Chapter nine

It was Ava's turn to be shocked,she jumped to her feet and looked at her friend confused.

" Wait, you can't be serious... there's no way I got married to the CEO of Ward industries,there must have been a mix up somewhere" Ava said trying to comprehend what she just heard.

" I can't be wrong,there is only one Elias Ward in coastal city and that's the CEO of Ward industries. Ava are you sure that man gave this card to you?" Jane asked her, still trying to understand the whole situation.

" Yes I'm sure that is his card...but how can he turn out to be the CEO of Ward industries?" Ava said to herself still in shock.

" There's only one way to prove this right" Jane said as she began to search for pictures of Elias Ward on her phone. " Is this the man you got married to?" Jane asked as she showed Ava the picture on her phone. In the picture Ava saw Elias standing in the midst of other famous people in the country.

It was him.

He really was Elias Ward.

Ava nodded her head in agreement. " That's him.. that's the man" she pointed to Elias in the picture. Jane looked at Ava in shock,she had just confirmed everything.

" You got married to Elias Ward... your husband is a billionaire!" Jane shouted.

"How is this possible... how did you do it?"

" I don't know... I'm as shocked as you are" Ava said. This was beyond her wildest imaginations.

" Wait... let's calm down and process this. I need a strong drink" Jane said as she moved to the fridge to get wine for the both of them. Ava sat still on the chair not moving,she was still in a daze from what she said.

Just some moments ago she was regretting her decision of getting married to a total stranger but now he turned out to be a billionaire. She didn't know how to feel, whether she should be happy or not. Jane returned with two glass of wine and handed one to Ava.

" I don't know Ava,I don't know if I should be happy or feel worried for you. You know this powerful families usually have one problem or the other,I don't even know what to say..." Jane said to Ava.

" I also feel kind of scared but I put myself into this so I can only go through with it...but it's all going to be fine" Ava answered trying to ease up the tension.

" Does your family know about this marriage?" Jane asked.

" Not at all...it was a decision I made at the last minute" ,Ava answered.

" Oh right...I can't wait to see the look on Clara and Rose's face when they find out who you got married to. And Jeff,that bastard jerk,he must think you're nothing without him but wait till he knows who your husband is" Jane said with a satisfactory smile.

" But I don't plan on telling them about my marriage,not yet..I need to understand him and get settled first before telling them", Ava said as she emptied the wine in her glass.

" That's true though. I bet your father will begin to suck up to you when he learns his daughter is married to the wealthiest man in coastal city" Jane said, disdain written all over her face. " He never really cared about you, despite what you went through in the hands of your stepmother and her daughter after your mother's death,he still didn't make up for it or even give an apology. Sometimes I wonder if..."

" That's enough Jane... he's still my father no matter what",Ava cut her friend of. Indeed her father had been unfair to her and even her mother when she was alive. Starting from when he decided to bring in his lover and her child into their home, Ava and her mother were always tormented.

That decision of his led to her mother's I'll health which later made her commit sucide. Even after Ava mother's death,he didn't try to get close to her,he always favoured her stepsister over her. But Ava had long gotten used to this treatment and just decided to let them do whatever they want.

" I'll let him know about my marriage at the appropriate time, but for now please don't tell anyone about it", Ava said to Jane,she closed her eyes and let out a long sigh. The day a woman gets married is supposed to be the happiest day in her life,it was the day every woman looked forward to. But Ava's case was different, she got married to a total stranger not out of love but out of revenge without anyone there to witness it with her,she didn't even have a wedding ceremony.

Ava remembered the cold face of Elias while he signed the marriage certificate, a chill ran down her spine. She could only hope her marriage turns out well and doesn't end up like that of her parents.

Ava few minutes of being lost in thoughts she then realised that she hadn't gotten back to Elias. She quickly reached out for her phone and sent him a message.

" I accept your terms"

" Alright...pack the necessary stuffs you need, I'll pick you up by 12am tomorrow". She received a message almost immediately.

Ava turned to Jane who was staring at her phone. " I'll be moving to his house tomorrow", she said.

" Wow so soon" Jane said looking up at Ava.

" Yes..it was part of the agreement,I have to move in with him" Ava answered.

" What time is he coming to pick you up"

" He said he'll be here by 12", Ava answered.

" Alright girl,I guess we should start packing. Not that you'll need any of this at his place,but let's just pack your essential stuffs", Jane said as she stood up and walked to the room.

Ava stood up to follow her,she looked around her small apartment,the place that has served for her home for years now.

She was moving to a new home.

She was moving into a new phase...
