Adrian's POV:

The office had gone quiet an hour ago, maybe longer. I stopped counting.

Papers were spread across the desk; contracts, figures, a half-finished review that should have taken twenty minutes. My pen moved when it needed to. The rest of the time, it just sat between my fingers doing nothing.

Ethan kept pulling at me. Not in any way I could explain easily. Something was off with him. Something specific to whenever his sister came up.

I knew Ethan. Not perfectly, no one knew anyone pe

Ethan’s POVTwo weeks.Fourteen days of silence that felt heavier than any argument we could have had.It wasn’t loud. It wasn’t explosive. It was worse.A quiet, suffocating cold war.I stopped speaking to him. Completely. Not even a glance unless it was absolutely necessary. Not even a shared space if I could avoid it. I learned his schedule without trying, just so I wouldn’t accidentally walk into him. And when work demanded interaction…At home I did his work before he wakes up and walk back to my room. Mrs. Rosamand and others baffled with my actions but no one questions as they know it's something between me and him.Today I was 10 minutes late."I'll have the breakfast in my room", I mumble to her. "Okay...", she nods. The clock ticks 8:30 am, Adrian to come down for breakfast. And I quickly try to disappear. Couldn't dodge him though but avoided like a plague. As though we bumped on the staircase, I silently passed by him and so did he.After that he left for office in his car

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 23: What He Refused to Feel

Ethan’s POVThe door clicked shut behind me, leaving the sound of it ringing in my ears. As though I closed it normally—It felt louder than anything I had ever heard. I just didn’t stop walking. My lashes felt heavy. Eye bags teary. But I didn’t look back.Didn’t think.Halting my chain of thoughts and turning off the emotions completely. Because I knew—if I did, even for a second… I’d lose whatever control I had left."Hold on to it–", I mumble to myself. As a lone tear escapes the corner of my eyes. But I wipe it off roughly with the back of my handMy steps echoed sharply through the empty corridor, faster now, uneven. The keys in my hand dug into my palm, but I didn’t loosen my grip. I needed something to ground me.Something real.Because everything inside me felt like it was slipping.“Get it together,” I muttered under my breath, jaw tightening. “It’s nothing. It doesn’t matter.”But the image—It wouldn’t leave. No matter how hard I tried to push it away. The way he looked. The

Ethan’s POV"Stop...S-ttoppp...", Ivan taps my seat. The driver rolls the car to stop pulling the break and Davel ran out of the car first while Ivan followed. I turn to find them throwing up and my body felt creeped out.Ewww.....A shiver ran down my spine as seeing them I felt nauseated. The office was few walks away from here. My eyes half-lidded, body begging me to just… stay. To forget the keys. Forget Davel. Forget everything and ask the driver to drop me instead and leave this two here only. But reality doesn’t work that way.Sighing, I look at them, thinking to help them. But then unable to take the sight of them puking, I get down the car. "Take care of them, I'll just go get the keys fast!", I tell the driver and he nods."Okay sir!", he says. "But please come soon...", he requests passing a side eye at them."Okay..."I nod understanding his hesitation.Almost running the two minutes walk distance I stand outside the massive iron gates of Blackwood Company. For a moment, I

Adrian's POV:She did not wait for permission this time. She placed her hands on my chair and turned it to face her, the wheels gliding without resistance. I let it happen. I just watched her.“There,” she said softly. “Now you’re looking at me.”I didn’t answer. She stepped in closer, enough that my knees almost brushed against her. “Let me take you to ecstasy,” she murmured, like it was a promise she had already decided to keep. Her hands moved to my waist, fingers resting on my belt. Slow. Deliberate.I caught her wrist before she could go further. She paused, then looked up at me.There was a faint smile on her lips. Like she expected this.I held her gaze, steady but distant.“Careful,” I said quietly.“Or what?” she asked, her voice soft, almost teasing.I didn’t reply right away.Because even now, in this moment, a part of my mind was still somewhere else. She didn’t pull away when I caught her wrist earlier. If anything, it only made her smile deepen.Slowly, she slipped free

Something specific to whenever his sister came up.I knew Ethan. Not perfectly, no one knew anyone perfectly, but well enough. He wasn't the type to stumble over simple questions without a reason behind it. Yet every time I steered the conversation toward her, he'd find a way out of it. Smoothly, even. A laugh here. A subject change there. Half an answer dressed up to look like a full one. What was he protecting? That bothered me more than the secret itself. I could handle not knowing something. What I couldn't handle was being deliberately kept out. We'd built enough between us for him to trus

  • Contracted to the man who broke me    Chapter 19: A secret to be hidden

Third Person POV“There should be no mistake… and make sure no one sees you.”The voice was low, controlled yet edged with firmness like a warning. The back gate lobby of the club was a stark contrast to the chaos inside. The music was reduced to a distant, dull thump like a heartbeat muffled behind walls. A single flickering light hung overhead while the air smelled faintly of spilled alcohol, damp concrete, and something metallic that lingered too long to ignore. An emergency exit sign glowed weakly in the corner, its green light barely cutting through the dimness.“Time is slipping like fine sand,” the masked man replied, his voice hushed but urgent. “You need to hurry.”A faint line formed between the other man’s brows.Sweat gathered along his forehead despite the cool air, sliding slowly down the side of his face. His posture remained steady, but his fingers curled slightly at his sides tight, restrained.“I know that…” he muttered. His gaze moved instinctively, sweeping the lob
