EPISODE FIFTEEN.

RYKER'S POV.

"I'm sorry, Ryker." She repeats again, I turn in her direction just to see her curled up, she looks so small and almost adorable.

"Why do I feel like you're not apologizing for what you said to me about my mother?" I chuckled, ignoring the burning sensation in my nose.

Fuck. Why am I getting emotional over a fucking apology?

"Because I'm not." Jenna mumbled in a drowsy tone.

Why does it feel so soothing hearing it from her?

And why the hell is the apologizing for that deadbeat of a mother? Not that I'm mad, but it feels so weird in such a good way.

Maybe because no one apologized to me for being my mother's child. Or because no one apologized to me for the trauma she caused me even after her death.

"Thank you." I whisper under my tone, hoping it's audible enough for her to hear me appreciate her but instead of her to give me a reply, I start to hear her soft snores.

I turned off the lights immediately and covered her properly with the sheets, deeply amazed on how the past few weeks have been a rollercoaster for us.

From Lana's death and this tiny woman walking into my life, turning it upside in a chaotic manner.

What I'm more grateful for is that Arlene is now leaning towards me more, maybe because of Jenna's presence, she's now more calm and free, I hope it doesn't change anytime soon.

The next morning.

I woke up with Jenna's soft body on mine, her breathing faint, I gently pushed her beside me, careful enough not to wake her up so she doesn't freak out even though, I'm trying not to as well.

Fuck, how does my body not repulse hers despite her saying she hates me so much and acts like she does? I'm definitely going to bully the hell out of her over this.

Stepping down from the bed, I let out a huge breath of relief and walked straight to Arlene's room, she's already awake, making her bed.

My independent princess.

"Hey baby."

She broke into a smile and lifted her tiny legs towards me.

"Good morning Dad." She coos, snuggling into me for some morning cuddles which I introduced some days ago.

We do this for a few minutes before going down to the kitchen to make her breakfast and snacks for school. She's grown to love it and look forward to it every morning.

"How did you sleep today?" I ask in a careful tone, her body tensed a bit against mine.

Arlene didn't speak for a while until she wrapped her hands around my neck."I had the same dream, where a woman was shouting at a man, while i was between them, crying and...."

"It's okay, princess. I promise to do something about it." I cut her off calmly, because it's so unbearable to talk about.

"No, it's fine, Dad. People only shout in my dream, as long as I wake up to this every morning, I'm okay." Arlene muttered, batting her wet eyelashes at me cutely.

"My baby is so smart." I drop a few kisses on her forehead before taking her to the bathroom to get her washed up.

After that, I dressed her up in casual clothes and took her downstairs to prepare her breakfast.

A delicious smell of freshly made pancakes welcomed us into the kitchen, Jenna was already there, reading through the small note I thought I hid well from others.

She's in one of the dresses I ordered for her which is above her knees, her slender body leaned perfectly on the cabinet, her long hair covered most of her face.

Jenna is truly a replical of Lana but strangely, the feeling that overwhelms me anytime I'm around Lana vanished the moment she died.

The hatred I had for her, gone, leaving me with pity, maybe if she lived her life better, she wouldn't have died like that.

"Hey." I greeted, diverting her attention to us.

Typical Jenna just stared at us gobsmacked and confused until Arlene waved at her.

"Good morning Mom."

Jenna quickly dropped the notebook on the cabinet and walked towards us.

"Hi, Arlene." She waved back at her shyly, Arlene withdrew from me and stretched her hands towards Jenna.

"Arlene, you're quite heavy..."

"I will take her."She said ecstatically, collecting her from me.

"Dad, can you make some milk for me? I will take it with the pancakes." Arlene pleads, eyeing the pancakes.

"Oh, sure."

Arlene was in Jenna's arms until she's ready to eat, I don't know whatever Jenna was saying to her, but she keeps giggling at intervals.

After settling her down in the dining room to eat her food, Jenna returned to the kitchen, maybe to eat, or question the hell out of me like she always does.

"Did I mess up in bed?" She blurted, standing close behind me, that I could feel her hot breath on my back.

"Give yourself a break, Jenna."

She stomped her foot in the ground stubbornly and kept trailing after me closely.

"Just tell me if I was good in bed or not?" She yelled in embarrassment.

The room became deaf silent after her words, maybe she realized her wordings are fucking weird as she's blushing furiously.

I decide to stick it to her by taunting her about it, I take her a few steps closer to her and smirk.

"What do you mean by that? Did you think you jumped on me when you were sleeping?" I tilt and lower my head sideways, trying to match her small frame. "Oh, you actually did."

Jenna's eyes widened comically, she launched her head towards me in shock and covered her mouth immediately.

"I jumped on you?" She repeats my words slowly.

"Yes, you did. I woke up to your body on mine and your snores? Loud as fuck. please, don't make me sleep in the same bed with you again." I rolled my eyes.

Her cheeks reddened more and she curled her lips like she was about to cry.

"I don't snore."

"Well, you do."

"Ryker!" She shouts in frustration, Jenna continues to follow me around the room, trying to explain why she almost tore down the whole house with her snores and it's the cutest thing ever.

She says dramatically, I laughed through my tears and turned to Elijah whose expressions haven't changed a bit.Judging from what his face is depicting, Michelle has probably found out how he was able to sell the stocks knowingly or unknowingly because one thing about Elijah is that, even if he's lying, his facial expression always sells him off."Why did you sack Rosie and the rest? I still make sure I pay them their salary every month even if it's from my purse, why would you do that to the people that started from the scratch with me?" I ask angrily, my chest tightens more as more words continue to spew out from me because I shouldn't have let the matter escalate to this stage, I'm such a dweeb."You mean the reduced salaries? Tell

Dad's voice jolted me out of my pool of thoughts and I almost hissed out aloud."Exactly,Dad. I have no business with your visitor or whoever he is, that's why I choose to ignore." I shrug nonchalance, ignoring the daggers he's throwing at me with his eyes."You never cease to embarrass me, Jenna Wolfe." He mumbled bitterly, the old me would have been moved to tears hearing such words from my own father but I'm no longer bothered, it now sounds like his daily mantra, I've always been a disappointment."Good for you, then.""Jen!"
