Jem's POV

Just a few minutes after Dante left, Shark followed shortly after to get me some clothes, and he returned not too long later.

Once I was done dressing up, Shark and I walked out of the hospital and headed toward the waiting car outside.

The driver stepped out the moment he noticed Shark and immediately opened the door for me. I slid inside, and Shark got in after me.

Jem's POV Just a few minutes after Dante left, Shark followed shortly after to get me some clothes, and he returned not too long later.Once I was done dressing up, Shark and I walked out of the hospital and headed toward the waiting car outside. The driver stepped out the moment he noticed Shark and immediately opened the door for me. I slid inside, and Shark got in after me.The drive to Dante’s mansion wasn’t really long, and before I even fully registered how far we had gone, we had already arrived.Shark got down first and immediately moved to my side, opening the car door for me. I stepped out slowly, still feeling a little weak, and muttered a quiet “thank you,” even though my voice came out lower than I intended.Shark only nodded once.He collected my hospital bag without hesitation and shut the car door carefully behind me before locking it.Then he led the way.I followed behind him as we approached the main entrance of the house, and the moment we stepped inside, I felt m

Dante's POV “Ah, fuck—sorry, boss!” Shark blurted out immediately, his voice cracking as realization hit him all at once.He didn’t wait.He turned too fast, almost stumbling in his hurry to escape the room, his steps rushed and uncoordinated as he backed toward the door, still muttering apologies under his breath repeatedly as if saying it once wasn’t enough. It was clear he was trying to find the exit without looking back, embarrassed, panicked, and desperate to erase what he had just witnessed. But before he could fully leave, I slowly pulled away from Jem. Then I let my gaze drop for a second before I lifted it again.“Shark. Wait,” I said calmly, my voice steady and controlled—almost too calm for someone who had just been caught kissing his… well, whatever Jem was becoming to me—new boyfriend, anticipating husband… whatever.I didn’t even flinch or act surprised. I remained composed, almost unnaturally calm—too normal for what had just happened moments before, as if nothing unus

Dante's POVFor a moment, Jem didn't utter a single word. He just stared at me like he couldn’t believe what I had just said. Then suddenly, he chuckled—softly at first—almost like he was trying to hold it back. A second later, he chuckled again, this time harder, as if something about the situation had finally clicked in his mind. And before I could even fully react, he burst out laughing completely, unable to contain it anymore. The laughter wasn't forced. It came out naturally, almost uncontrollably, even though I could tell he was still in pain from the way his hand twitched slightly near his head. That caught me off guard, so I raised a brow slightly, watching him closely.“And what exactly is so funny?” I asked. He shook his head, still trying to catch his breath, his laughter slowly dying down into something softer.“I just…” he started, his voice uneven. “I can’t believe you actually think I would ever turn… gay.”There was something almost innocent in the way he said it. Cert

Jem's POV I tried to speak, slowly at first, like I was afraid that if I rushed it, whatever memory I had left would slip away again. My head still felt heavy, like there was something inside it I couldn’t fully reach, something just out of grasp.“There were… a lot of cars,” I said, my voice coming out softer than I expected. Then I paused, trying to remember more of what had happened that day, but that was all I could recall. My brows drew together slightly as I tried harder to remember, forcing myself to reach deeper into my thoughts, to pull out anything more from the fog in my head. But I could only remember a little.“There were a lot of people too… a lot of men…” I swallowed hard as I continued to speak. My throat suddenly dried as a dull ache pressed against my head. I squinted slightly, as though forcing the memory out only made the pain in my head worse.“That’s all I can remember… just the cars and the people,” I said quickly, a weak sense of finality in my tone.I hesita

Dante's POV I was in the meeting room at the house, seated with a group of top-tier investors, discussing business as usual, when a soft knock suddenly came against the glass door.My eyes didn’t leave the documents in front of me, but I already knew who it was.It was Mara. She’s always the one with the nerve to come knocking on my door, even when I’m in the middle of a meeting—hell, even if it were with the president. My mom wouldn’t dare try that with me… but Mara? She’s something else.Sometimes I wonder if she got that stubborn streak from me or if she was just born that way. Either way, once she decides something matters, there’s no stopping her. She’ll walk straight through any door, no hesitation, no second thoughts. And the annoying part? She’s almost always right to.The door opened gently, and she stepped in slowly, her movements careful, almost too respectful for someone who usually walked in without hesitation.Without looking up, I spoke.“Mara, I’m in a meeting. It can

Dante's POV She continued, shaking her head repeatedly as more tears fell. “You don’t believe me… I can never do something like that… I can’t hurt him—”“Shh… hey, it’s okay,” I cut in immediately, my voice softer now, controlled but steady. “I believe you, okay? I believe you. You just have to stop trying to hurt yourself. Please, just stop.” My eyes stayed on her face the entire time as I gently used the back of my hand to wipe her tears, trying to calm her down as best as I could. She let out a shaky breath, her body still trembling badly, and without thinking, she suddenly threw herself into me. Her arms wrapped tightly around my neck as she held onto me like she was afraid of falling apart completely.“I’m sorry, uncle… I’m really sorry,” she sobbed against me. “I tried to save him… I tried to get him to the hospital as fast as I could, but I just… I just… couldn’t—”“It’s okay,” I interrupted her gently, pulling her closer as I rubbed her back slowly. “Stop talking. I know. I
