“Boss, you suddenly vanished and I couldn't find you,” Simon muttered, his eyes glistening as he stuffed a piece of bread in his mouth.

“Okay, okay, don't cry. I wasn't abducted. I returned to my family,” Harriet muttered, flinching at her own words.

“You had a family? How come they never came to visit you? Not even once after you revealed your mother passed away! Do they have any idea who you are?” Simon asked, his eyes wide as saucers. For the years he'd been with Harriet, he had never known she had a family. It all suddenly seemed so surreal.

Harriet stared at the young man, a year younger than herself before picking up her glass of apple juice and downing it in one go. If one looked closer, they would see the pain she has masked with coldness and indifference.
