CHAPTER 10: Plans

Nala’s Point of View

I slowly opened my eyes as I heard a shattering sound that awakened my sleeping soul. It was followed by a crisp but faint curse coming from a familiar voice.

I jolted up from the soft, white bed, realizing that I had fallen asleep while waiting for Hugo to return from the chaotic five-star hotel. As we reached the rooftop of the hotel a while ago, we immediately boarded a chopper and were dropped off at the helipad of a yacht. I had no idea where we were going. All I knew was that we were now out at sea.

Since the lights were off, I couldn’t clearly make out Hugo, but based on the figure I could see, he was sitting on the sofa, not far from the bed where I was.

“Hugo?” I called out to him, causing him to look in my direction. His eyes, with their unusual glow-in-the-dark color, seemed to come alive again as our gazes met in the darkness.
