CHAPTER 49

TYLER

Markus stood in front of the group the next morning, all smiles like he was hosting a morning talk show. “Alright, team. Today we’re splitting responsibilities. Mason will be accompanying me into the city for some press appearances and photo ops. The rest of you will have the day off to rest and recharge.”

I blinked. “Wait… just Mason?”

Markus’s grin widened. “Yes. The sponsors want him front and center. He’s got the look, the stats, and the story. It’s perfect.”

My stomach twisted. “Right. Perfect.”

Mason glanced at me, his brow creasing like he wanted to say something, but Markus was already steering him toward the exit.

As soon as they were gone, Malik walked over, hands in his pockets. “You’re glaring at the door like Mason just ran off with your boyfriend.”

I scoffed. “Don’t be stupid.”

He smirked. “So… not jealous at all?”

“No,” I said flatly.

“You’re sure? Because your voice is doing that tight thing it does when you’re lying.”

“Malik, drop it.”

TYLER I couldn’t feel my legs.My whole body was still trembling when Mason finally loosened his hold on me, his forehead pressed to mine, both of us catching our breath in the quiet room.“Holy shit,” I whispered, my voice raspy, chest still heaving.Mason chuckled softly, pressing a kiss to the corner of my mouth. “Holy shit is right. You’re… unreal.”“Don’t get all sentimental on me,” I mumbled, collapsing onto his chest. My face felt hot, but his skin was hotter. His heartbeat thundered under my cheek. His arms wrapped around me instantly, like they belonged there. “Not sentimental. Just facts,” he said, his voice low and lazy, like he could fall asleep right then.I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see it. “You say that every time.”“And every time, I mean it,” he shot back, brushing his lips over my hair.Silence stretched for a moment, not uncomfortable, just heavy with everything I didn’t know how to say. I curled closer instead, letting his warmth seep into me. His thu

CHAPTER 63TYLER The next morning, I thought my legs had officially filed for divorce. Every step onto the rink was like a private joke between my thighs and Mason’s smug face. But somehow, I was in a good mood.Yeah, Markus was still throwing his usual daggers from the sidelines — “lazy stride, Reyes,” “you’ll never make nationals if you keep dragging,” “try to skate like you’re not carrying baggage.”Normally, it would’ve ruined me. Today? I just let the insults slide right off me like sweat on the ice.Maybe it was because I’d already been ruined last night. Thoroughly.I bit the inside of my cheek to stop the grin threatening to break my face. If I started smiling mid-drill, the guys would know something was up. Mason caught my eye across the rink, and I swear his smirk nearly sent me flat on my ass.“Reyes, focus!” Markus barked.I nodded like a dutiful soldier, but inside? I was laughing. After drills, I tugged my skates off and stretched out my sore calves. Malik plopped down

CHAPTER 62MASONI thought I was the one running the show.Tyler was straddling me, kissing me like he was going to burn the whole place down if I let go. His hands were in my hair, his tongue deep in my mouth, his body pressed so tight against me I swore I could feel his heartbeat. And then—He pulled back, breathing hard, lips swollen and wet, his eyes locked on mine with a look that sent heat straight to my gut.“What are you—” I started. But then he slid off my lap. Onto the floor.Onto his knees. My whole body froze. “Tyler…”His hands were already on my waistband, tugging it down with this reckless determination that made my pulse skyrocket.“Tyler, wait—”“No,” he cut me off, looking up at me with a daring smirk that nearly destroyed me. “Don’t tell me to stop. You’ve had your turn. Now it’s mine.”Holy. Fuck.I couldn’t breathe. Couldn’t think. All I could do was watch as he freed me from my sweats, his hand wrapping around me, slow, teasing, like he wanted me to beg.“Jesus,

  • Craving The Enemy   CHAPTER 61

CHAPTER 61TYLERI woke up to warmth. Not the kind of warmth from sunlight or too many blankets, but the steady, solid kind—the kind that came from a body pressed against mine.Mason’s body. His face was right there, barely inches away. Eyes closed, lashes dark against his skin, mouth relaxed. He looked infuriatingly peaceful, like he hadn’t spent half the week driving me crazy, pushing me to the edge, testing me in ways I never wanted to admit out loud. And God, I hated myself for staring. My chest tightened. My father’s voice filled my head—sharp, clipped, always disgusted. Men don’t do this. It’s unnatural. If you ever—I squeezed my eyes shut, jaw clenched. I’d been carrying that poison for years, shoving every thought, every glance, every impulse into some locked-up corner of myself. Pretending. Performing. Being exactly what he demanded. But here, in this retreat, away from the perfect Reyes family image, I’d already cracked. Mason had kissed me. Touched me. Made me feel things

  • Craving The Enemy   CHAPTER 60

CHAPTER 60MASONNight at the retreat was too quiet. Too still. The kind of stillness that made my skin crawl.I couldn’t sleep. Not after the crap with the ball earlier. Not after seeing Tyler clutch his head like that.So I threw on a hoodie, shoved my hands into my pockets, and stepped outside. The air was sharp, cold, hitting me straight in the chest. That’s when I saw him.A figure, dressed head-to-toe in black, standing near the edge of the parking lot like he was waiting for something. Or someone. My pulse spiked. The stalker.I didn’t think. Didn’t pause. Didn’t breathe. I charged forward, slammed him into the wall, and my forearm locked against his throat before he could make a sound.“Who the hell are you?” I snarled, rage bleeding into every word. “You think you can mess with Tyler? Huh? Throwing balls, leaving threats—”The guy’s hands clawed at my arm, tapping frantically against my shoulder. His voice came out strangled.“Wait—stop—it’s not—I’m not—”I tightened my hold.

  • Craving The Enemy   CHAPTER 59

CHAPTER 59TYLERI woke up tangled in Mason’s arms, his breath hot against the back of my neck. For a second, I forgot about the fish. Forgot about Markus. Forgot about everything except how damn warm he was. Then reality hit.Crap.I moved, careful not to wake him, but his grip tightened instantly.“Where do you think you’re going?” Mason’s voice was groggy, low, like gravel.I rolled my eyes even though he couldn’t see me. “To shower. Or is that forbidden too, boss?”His chuckle vibrated through my back. “I’ll allow it.”“Wow. Generous.”“Or…” He nuzzled into my shoulder. “We could shower together.”“Mason.”“Tyler.”“I said no before. I’m saying no again.”He groaned dramatically, finally letting me go. “You’re killing me.”“You’ll live.” I slipped out of bed, grabbed clean clothes, and practically ran into the bathroom.By the time I came out, Mason was already dressed in practice gear, hair damp from his shower. Mf had gone to shower somewhere else.He smirked at me like he knew
