Divorce

Diana trembled on the floor.

She stared into nothingness as she was still in shock from what had just happened to her. She was still on the floor where her supposed husband had left her. Her back was on the tiled floor and the cold sipped into her naked body.

Her nightdress was beyond ruined. Her hands were sprawled on the floor. Her legs still vibrated like crazy. Lone tears escaped her eyes. They were no longer flowing down like before. She had already cried her eyes down.

Diana was finding it hard to believe that Matteo had done this to her. He was once sweet. He once made the world worth living. He promised to conquer the world and give it to her as a gift and she had believed it all.

Where was that gift now?

Where was the world he promised?

Where was the sweetness? The love?

Her lips started trembling again. They had gone pale from crying and she felt a fresh batch of tears coming again. She felt too hurt. Diana felt broken.

Matteo had crossed the line today. He had hurt her more than anyone else had and she cursed herself for still loving him even after all this!

How could she still want him? How could she still crave for his body? Was she losing her mind? Was she in a normal state of mind?

She slowly helped herself to sit up. After Matteo had found finished with her, he went back into the room and Diana suspected he was already in a deep sleep.

All Diana had ever wanted was a prince charming that would love her like she was the only thing that mattered. All she had ever wanted was a sweet marriage and a caring husband. Was it too much to ask for? Was it all too much to want?

The tears that were coming finally filled up her eyes and they started streaming down her face. Maria was right. She could not continue like this. She had to put an end to this wickedness.

Matteo had used her for too long. Matteo had played with her feelings for too long. Matteo had disrespected her for way too long. She could not let him keep having his way.

It was time to part ways.

As much as it pained her and burnt her insides, she had to do it. It was the right thing to do. She had found the answer to Maria's question. She could not love him and suffer forever. She would lose herself in the process.

It was better for her to set herself free and try to find happiness elsewhere. Matteo was not the one for her. He had been a bad choice from the start and he still was.

Diana had to find a way to make up with her parents. She had fought with them because of Matteo. She had cut ties with them because Matteo had demanded that it be that way. He was not worth all these sacrifices.

Diana slowly got to her feet and stood before the closed door of the room. She peered in and saw that he truly was fast asleep.

She needed to arrange her divorce papers with their lawyer. It was now or never before she lost the backbones to do it.

She walked away from the door and stopped where Matteo would not be able to overhear her conversation. It was an odd hour and it was rude to contact the lawyer now but she was desperate.

She dialed his number. She put the phone to her left ear. It began to ring but there was no answer. Diana prayed and hoped that he would answer it as she insisted on calling again.

Eventually, he answered the call.

"Hello, George Washington speaking?" the lawyer began in a sleepy voice.

"It's Diana speaking," Diana answered.

"Diana? Are you okay? Did something happen?" he asked.

The lawyer was used to their little family. There was no use for formalities. He knew everything about them, except for the fact that Matteo treated her badly. But he guessed that Matteo did.

"I want a divorce," Diana broke the news.

There was a pause on the other end. George cleared his throat before speaking again.

"Do you want to talk about it first? Divorce is a big deal. It can affect you for the rest of your life. Are you sure you want to do this?" he asked as he had become wide awake now.

Diana exhaled sharply and she felt tears begin to fill up her eyes. She remembered all of Matteo's toxicity. She could not keep forcing it any longer.

"Yes, I am. I want it to happen as fast as possible. You can call him tomorrow and tell him about it. I'll tell him myself tomorrow morning. Can you do this for me?" Diana asked.

George did not respond. She could only hear his heavy breathing on the other end.

"Please George, I can't do this anymore. I feel as if I'm dying inside. Please," Diana pleaded.

George sighed. "I'll arrange the divorce papers. I'll give your husband a call tomorrow as well," he finally gave in.

I smiled. I was going to be free from him soon. "Thank you so much, George," Diana appreciated him.

"It's nothing. Do take care of yourself. Have a good night," George bid her farewell and ended the phone call.

Diana heaved a sigh of relief before walking back into the room. She stood over Matteo's sleeping form and watched him for a while.

This was the man who caused her pain and at the same time brought her joy. She was about to put an end to their relationship. He was no longer going to have free access to her again.

She went into the shower and washed her pain away with the water. She broke down in tears and crude again. She remembered the previous event that had taken place between her and Matteo.

He had forced himself on her. She still remembered the gasps that escaped her lips with every thrust from him. She remembered the way he squeezed her tits without having any care in the world.

She cried throughout the bath and stepped out to wear another night dress. Then she chose to fall asleep on the couch opposite the bed. It felt uncomfortable but Diana told herself that she would bear it longer.

Morning soon came and Matteo yawned awake. He got out of his bed and raised a brow at his wife. He asked himself why she was in a chair. Then he shrugged it easy and got in the shower to prepare himself for work. He took his time cleaning up his body and when he stepped out, he saw that Diana was already awake.

She folded her arms at him like she had something to say. He ignored her and went to his wardrobe to find something to wear. He took out his clothes and started cleaning his body to put them on.

"Matteo, I have something important to tell you," she told her billionaire husband.

He continued working on his clothes. "I'm listening," he answered.

Diana wanted him to take her seriously. So she pulled his clothes out of his hand and glared at him defiantly.

"What is your problem?" he demanded as he was beginning to lose his patience.

"I want your full attention!" Diana exclaimed.

Matter glared at her for a long time as he thought of what to do to her. Eventually, he gave in.

"What do you have to say? I'm listening," he asked again.

Diana took in a long shaky breath before releasing it again. Then she began.

"I want a divorce," Diana broke the news.

Matter stopped and glared at her. He blinked only one eye multiple times before breaking into laughter. He dragged his clothes back out of Diana's hands.

"When you're ready to talk, let me know," Matteo said instead.

Diana had known that he would not take her seriously. This was why she needed the lower to call him and break the news to him. This was the only way that Matteo would take her seriously.

"I'm serious, I was t a divorce. I'm sick and tired of this marriage," Diana continued.

Matteo waved her away. "I have work to get to first this morning. Maybe I'll see you later today when I get back from work. Then we can talk about your little divorce," Matteo said and walked out of the room.

Matteo scoffed as he descended the stairs. He found himself chuckling at his wife. This was not the first time she threatened him about leaving their marriage. By evening, she would have cooled off. He knew that Diana could not live without him. She was just bluffing. He laughed again and exited the building.

His red car was waiting outside for him. He got in and drove off. Matteo turned on the music and played it as loud as possible. He soon came to a stop before a traffic light and waited for pedestrians to cross the road.

Suddenly, his phone rang. It was the lawyer calling.

"Why is this man calling me? Does he want some kind of raise or something?" Matteo asked himself before answering it. "How can I help you?" he demanded the moment he picked it up.

"Your wife has filed a divorce against you. She wants to end your marriage," George announced.

Matteo widened his eyes in shock. Diana was not joking. She truly wanted a divorce.

What was he going to do?
