There was silence on Cassie's end as she tried to be sure she'd heard what Jules had said right.

‘Who even watches TV anymore?’ she thought.

“What's on there?" She asked, filing her nails away.

Jules stared at the TV with her entire mind, anticipating with no guess what he was planning to say.

"Just turn on your TV and scroll through the channels. I’ll call you back."

Jules didn’t wait for a reply. She ended the call and turned the volume up three notches.

Nolan sat across from Serah Nyx, the all popular TV host. And while he smiled at something she'd muttered, Jules noticed the bags under his eyes which he'd probably tried to hide but had failed to.

Finally, the cameras zoomed out, and Serah straightened herself, staring straight at the cameras.

“Good evening everyone, and thank you for tuning in this evening on our award-winning show." Serah announced with her usual bright smile, which could put anyone at ease.

“Alright, today, we have—based on popular demand—Mr. Nolan Cross.” She p

“Are you sure about this, Juliette?” her mom's voice came through her phone's speaker, soft and frail.“Not really,” Jules sighed, her head bent over some documents. “But I’ve thought about it. And I think it’s time.”Her mom sighed on the other end, too. “Thinking between last night and today is not enough, Jules. As wonderful as it sounds, having another child with another man could be a bad decision.”Jules dropped her pen on the desk, her voice growing firm. “Ethan is not ‘another man,’ Mom. He’s my husband.”"The same man whom you told me has been acting strange for some time now?” Her mom asked. "Or is it the same man whom you told me had killed someone?” "Jules, are you listening to me?” Her mom's voice was filled with nothing but worry.“I’m listening,” Jules muttered, picking the pen back up.“I know this is your life, and I respect that. But I don’t want you making a mistake.”Jules was silent.Yesterday when Ethan was done…drilling her, and making most of her doubts about

Concentrating at work now felt like a chore as Jules tried juggling emails, reports, contracts, and all that, along with the chaos in her head.A lot has gone on in such a short time. From her very confusing conversation with Colton. To Ethan's sudden change in behavior. And there was this thing whispering at the back of her mind about what Cassie had drunkenly said. When she thought hard about it, they all seemed to point in one direction. At the same time, what if she was just over thinking after all the drama with Nolan and Evie? She groaned and slammed the mouse on the desk, her fingers raking her hair in frustration.‘You really shouldn't be doing this, Jules. Stop letting things bother you. Especially not the fact that you and Ethan hadn't spoken to each other in an entire day, even though you both sleep on the same bed.’“Great." She muttered to herself, her eyes moving to the small clock on her table.A knock echoed through the room, and Zee pushed the door open, bearing the l

"How's this one?” Evie bounced out of the changing room in a Cinderella style wedding gown, her grin never leaving her face.Nolan looked up from his phone, his eyes scanning from her flushed cheeks to the gown—which was really nice but exaggerated the fact that she'd put on some weight.“I like it." He replied simply. Not because that was the one hundredth one she was trying on, but because it truly was nice.“How about this one, Evie." Maggie appeared from within a sea of dresses, holding up a completely different one.Evie's eyes widened, and she hurried over, careful to not stumble and ruin the dress. “Oh, my God." She almost squealed as she took the dress from Maggie and turned to Nolan. “Can I try this one out, please. Last one?" Nolan just sighed. “Knock yourself out." With that, Evie bounced towards the changing room once more, accompanied by a female attendant, drawing the curtain shutMaggie felt satisfied, her grin never leaving her face as she turned back to the dresses,

Jules' shoes were in her hands when she got down from the car. Her head was throbbing violently, and her eyes were heavy as she stopped herself from replaying how she'd found Cassie.Somehow, that grown ass woman had crawled into Brad's room even in her drunken state. But that wasn't the worst part. When Jules searched the hallway on the floor Cassie had hurried to, she'd stopped at one door which was opened a crack. She'd ignored her instinct and peered through, only to find Cassie on her knees. In the middle of Brad's room.Surrounded by three men naked from the waist down. And she was stroking one of them, ready to commit something that she'd probably regret in the morning.Normally, Jules would have left her there, as that wasn't Cassie's first foursome. But this was different because she was wasted and she was not in her right state of mind. Then in the morning, Jules would have to play the sorry, supportive friend. She really wasn't up for that, so she had to literally drag her

“Control yourself, Cassie,” Jules warned as they stepped into the building—already swarming with strangers grinding against aroused dicks, with music blasting so illegally loud it made her ears throb. This was definitely not a place she was supposed to be. But here she was. “Maybe it's you who needs to loosen up a bit," Cassie yelled over the music, her body already moving to the rhythm. “Ethan isn't here." “I’m not scared of Ethan." Jules yelled back. “Oh, yeah?" Cassie backed away in her moves and grabbed two shot glasses from a server passing by. She held one out to Jules, a smirk curling her lips. “Prove it.” Jules stared at the tiny glass, then back at the spark in Cassie’s eyes. ‘This is a bad idea.’ her head whispered. ‘You don't drink outside, remember?’ Suddenly, Jules remembered how much of a bad influence Cassie could be at times. But she'd agreed to go out with her, didn't she? What was she expecting—a church service? This was Cassie, and this could b

"The company from Germany agreed to reschedule, though. Because the manager also can't make it. But he'll be back in the city in two weeks." Jules let out a soft sigh as she fastened her earrings, eyes fixed on her reflection in the mirror.Apparently, her self-imposed break due to Asher’s illness was ending tomorrow—but somehow, the universe wasn’t quite ready to let her return. She was thankful though, because one part of her mind was not as ready, seeing how she'd left things in the office the last time.Anyway, here she was, slipping into her best clothes and trusting Cassie with the location she’d picked for their outing.“...for the others, I'll try making sure they don't reconsider, and all the meetings are held.”Jules had almost forgotten she was still on the call with Zee."Alright, then." She replied. “I'll be there tomorrow." She ended the call. But just as she set it down, it buzzed again.Cassie.She tapped the screen and set it to speaker.“Girl, where the fuck are you
