4. Easily replaced

It was a little over 8pm in the evening when a black sedan car pulled up at the entrance gate of an exquisite estate in Georgetown.

A door opened at the side and Loki weakly stepped out from the car.

Staring at the grey-haired older man seated at the owner's side, she hesitated briefly before she walked away.

"Ms. Donovan, please wait." The young man who had approached her earlier, said as he went after her, a pair of comfy slippers in his hand.

Loki paused and turned to him. She was taken aback when he reached her side and gently lowered the slippers close to her legs.

"Please put this on," he said gently.

She stared at his gorgeous face before averting her gaze to the man seated in the car. He was looking back at her with an unreadable expression on his face.

"Thank you for your concern, but I'm sorry I must decline." She coldly said.

"But your feet..."

"You don't have to pay me any concern, Mr. Greyson." Loki interrupted, returning her gaze to him.

The young man by name; Kylo Greyson, shot a brow upwards in a brief surprise before he gave one short nod at her.

"Alright if you insist, my lady." He bowed slightly at her and Loki frowned, her brows creasing briefly.

She turned around to leave but on second thought, paused.

Turning back to him she added, "Its been Ms. Colleen for many years now, not Ms. Donovan. It is way too late for a sudden change of names, don't you agree?"

Kylo was stunned by her words. And although it was obvious they came from a place of pain, it was not in his place to interfere in any manner. "My apologies, Ms. Don... Ms. Colleen," he quickly corrected. "I would take my leave now."

Loki nodded at him. And when Kylo lowered his tall frame a little in other to retrieve the slippers, in that split second, she felt his scent was familiar in a way. However, she shrugged the thoughts off immediately.

Seconds later, she watched as their car slowly drove off.

Her gaze lowered to her right hand and her expression clouded at the sight of the business card in it. Why now?

Loki blinked back the tears that threatened to spill from her eyes and proceeded on her way back home.

An unusual feeling of nausea suddenly overwhelmed her the moment she walked into her matrimonial home.

For a moment, Loki wondered if Glen was home and if everything that's happened today would suddenly turn into an unpleasant dream the moment she sees him.

Maybe she would wake up immediately and breathe a sigh of relief when she finds herself wrapped in his warm arms. Perhaps if it wasn't a dream, he might be home waiting for her and would apologize for everything and beg for forgiveness the moment he sees her. She couldn't help but allow herself entertain such useless thoughts.

Still nauseated, Loki pulled off her shoes at the in-house corridor and slipped on one of the indoor comfy slippers she and Glen usually use when home.

However, the moment she stepped into the living area of their dreamy manor, her handbag instantly dropped from her hand to the floor in her shock. At only one glance, she had noticed the huge changes that had occurred in her absence in the manor she had known as home for the last five years.

Before she left the house earlier in the day, all her framed photos had been intact in its original position. But now, not just hers but including her photos with Glen were nowhere in sight, not even their wedding photos was spared. Instead, her photos had been replaced with that of Lucy, and that of Glen and Lucy.

To any other person who didn't know the truth, it might be easy to deceive them with these photos as they wouldn't even notice any difference. But Loki wasn't stupid right now. Maybe in the past it might have been easy to deceive her since she wasn't aware of Lucy's existence then.

"Glen!" She screamed, feeling so frustrated. All her hopes for a different reality were now completely dashed. She might as well confront him right away, just this once, if possible.

When she received no response, Loki picked up her bag and hurried to the master bedroom. She didn't see any signs of him at home. She dropped her bag on the dresser and immediately noticed the absence of the huge romantic black and white frame of herself and Glen that had been placed on the wall close to the huge king-sized bed. And that too, had been replaced by a new frame of Lucy and Glen.

The entire feel and vibe of the manor now, gave off a feeling Loki didn't like. It felt like all her memories had been erased from the home as though she never existed in it before.

Once again, tears filled her eyes as memories of her passionate moments with Glen flashed in her mind.

"You had promised to love me and choose me for all the days of your life, Glen. So what happened to you? What happened to us? Were your vows to me five years ago all a lie too?" Loki sniffed as she used a hand to wipe the tears flowing down her cheeks. Her tears didn't seem to run out at all no matter how much her eyes bled the salty liquid.

Her eyes caught sight of her reflection on the vanity mirror and a sigh escaped her lips. Right now, she wouldn't exactly blame anyone who referred her to be an imposter to the supposed Mrs. Robertson.

Her long auburn hair wasn't at the beautiful state it had been several hours ago when she had walked into Glen's office. Her siren-shaped golden-brown eyes were swollen and her lips were dry and slightly patched. In general, her appearance wasn't the least bit sightly at the moment.

After some moments of checking every aspect of the manor in search of Glen, Loki paused at his study. It was locked and that meant he hadn't come home yet.
