The moon hovered just above the large white tips, shining everything around them in a soft silver glow.

The cold air squeezed her skin, but Aria felt the heat inside. A warmth that no longer belonged to her

alone. It had shifted. They stopped at the edge of the trees.

Aria closed her eyes. She could feel her baby stirring again. A gentle pulse, not panic, not pain.

It was a sign.

“He’s waking something in you,” Sarah said, not looking at her. Aria didn’t ask who ‘he’ was since she

already knew. Although every part of her refused, the truth was as hard as a stone in her stomach.

Kale.

The name had a bitter taste in her mouth. The memory of his refusal burned behind her eyes. But the

connection is neither broken nor complete. She heard it in the wind as the trees whispered his name.

She felt it in his bones.

“I thought I was free of this,” Aria whispered. Sarah placed a hand on her shoulder.

“Freedom doesn’t always mean silence.” Aria looked at her, eyes wide.

Sarah’s gaze softened. “

The trees whispered louder than usual, their leaves full of secrets that only the wind could relate. I was standing under the silver oak tree where I first experienced the moon enveloping my soul. The air was colder that night, as if I were crying over something I had completely lost. My fingers were around the edge of my cloak as I looked up at the sky and the clouds flew far enough for the moonlight to touch my skin. I only felt myself, but incomplete.Kale's voice still echoed in my dreams, sweet but firm. Every night, but left me with pain and longing, I scratched the barrier that Sarah had created to protect me. Even at the moment, as I woke up on the ground, I could hear his voice calling me; it wasn't just a noise but was an attraction. But I didn’t follow it.He made his choice because the whole pack broke me with the certainty that it only brings cruelty. I repeated the moment again and again, seeking hesitations in his eyes, vibrations in his voice. Only the cold decision of

The night was quiet, but something in me moved stronger than the wind outside. I was sitting by the fire in Sarah’s house, my hands trembling slightly above my growing belly. My body had changed, my senses were sharper and more alert, but it was no longer just the baby or the whispers of the moon goddess. It was something deeper, something buried in blood and bones, finally awakened.Sarah noticed the silence in my eyes and did not ask questions at first. He gave me a wooden bowl filled with a thick infusion of spices and sat down in front of me. The flames danced among us, casting bright shadows on worn walls: "Do you feel it, do you embrace it?" She says slowly, almost like a mother talking to a child who already knows the answer. I just nodded my head, thinking that my voice was fine."All in their blood," she continued, stopping her eyes; "not just the sign of the moon goddess; you’re wearing more than you know, Aria." I swallowed hard, the heat of the drink covered my throat, but

Aria’s POVThe forest enveloped us like a memory. Not pointy, but something warm and old, like the way a mother can separate you after years. I didn’t see any lines on the ground, but by the time we crossed the forest something changed. The air was changing - denser, full, throbbing with a force I could feel in my chest. The magic, deep and ancient, hung like a heavy cloak above us."We’re safe now," Sarah whispered, even though her voice didn’t seem completely relieved. It held something deeper. Respect, maybe. Or fear.“These woods,” she said, “they’re older than any Alpha’s rule. They answer to something higher. They protect who needs it.”I put a hand on my stomach and I felt the baby move under my skin; they moved as if they felt it. How this place recognized them. The silvery marks on my arms pulsated softly and reacted to the energy in the air as if it were just music we could hear. Even the trees tilted in passing, as if they were greeting something I had not yet become. The p

Kale’s POVThe band tore my chest like a fucking hook. I tried to ignore it and tell myself that it didn’t mean anything, but it continued. Every step I took in the forest made it warmer. My wolf was tense, running up and down and moaning as if he could no longer stand sitting in my skin. There was something else tonight. Her scent was there, it hit me as soon as I crossed the stream, still Aria, but not like in my memories. Like the moonlight mixed with wild flowers and ancient magic, I didn’t even know how to explain it, but my heart knew it.I pushed myself through the branches and ignored the sting on my face. My wolf wanted me to run, but I forced myself to stay on the ground. What did I do here? She didn’t want me anymore. I said it clearly the night I rejected it and tried to convince myself that it was the right choice since. But tonight, I didn’t feel like I made a mistake. It felt like something was calling me back. Not just the bond, but her. Something about it felt urgent.

The chain was burning in my palm when we arrived at Sarah’s cabin. The moonstone beat at a quiet pace, a rhythm that matched the incessant excitement of the baby in me. I couldn’t let go, even though all the instincts I should have buried were whispering.Sarah opened the door without intervening, turned towards me and her eyes captured the moonlight like stagnant water."You feel it, don’t you?" she asked, her voice barely more than breathing. “The change.”I gave a small nod. My voice had left me. The necklace grew warmer, vibrating with something ancient. I felt a pull. Yes, the bond. But not just to Kale anymore. Something else stirred beneath my skin. Older. Deeper. Vaster.“Sit,” Sarah said gently, motioning to the wooden steps. “Before it swallows you whole.”I sat on my stomach with my hand, the other firmly wrapped around the chain. The baby kicked again. Stronger this time. Like it too could sense what was coming. The moon felt too close. Too bright. It wasn’t just lighting
