Liam I call the number Ted gave me. Denver is now looking skeptical about the whole thing. I kind of knew he might want to skip out, I don’t blame him. Going after someone isn’t just the sort of thing anyone will do. Only I’m here now and I’m not prepared to let that douchebag get away scot free from what he has done to Tammy. “There’s still time to walk away.” I turn and say to him. We’re parked up in an unused parking lot that has a wire fence perimeter. There’s a burnt out car to the left and an old caravan that has lost all its wheels. This isn’t the best neighborhood to be in. Certainly not where we all hang out. I know that the lies of Tate, Denver and myself, Tammy and Lilly are privileged. We have extremely rich parents and money is never an object. Although my dad always makes me realise that it doesn’t grow on trees. Yes, I have an allowance on a monthly basis that even I know would be an annual allowance for most kids and yes, my father pays for a lot of my shit. But trus
Tate I’m lying on my bed, it’s nearly eleven outside. It’s pitch black except for the moon which is half this evening. It’s still absolutely stunning. The only thing that is spoiling it for me, is that Liam still hasn’t contacted me. Denver hasn’t contacted Lilly and we’re both besides ourselves. The way my stomach is lurching and the nausea I’m feeling, it tells me something bad has gone down. All I can do is wait and wait until Liam does send me a message. I reach for my book on the bedside cabinet, I’m an avid reader but tonight I open it up and just stare at the pages. So unlike me, especially when it’s the a Colleen Hoover like this one is. Really, I’m not even able to focus on the words, they’re swimming in front of my eyes. Perhaps I ought to swap to an audio book, that might soothe me whilst I wait. “Hey honey, you asleep yet?” I hear my mother say from the other side of the door. My fairy lights are still on and my bedside lamp, she can see the light no doubt filtering bel
Tate Liam stays cuddled into me, his warmth radiates through my own body and it’s causing a warm sensation to spread throughout the bottom of my stomach and up into my chest. My heart rate has increased. This feel is amazing. I’m fighting hard, really hard to not turn to him and kiss him. A nice long, lingering kiss where I can feel his tongue inside my mouth. I want my best friend so bad that it’s driving me practically insane with longing. I know I shouldn’t feel like this but it’s just so damn hard. He’s everything I want in a boyfriend. To start with he is my best friend and they say that your boyfriend, husband, lover should be your best friend. He’s gorgeous with his impressive height, his broad shoulders and that jet black hair that sometimes hangs in his face. His eyes are piercing and when he looks at me in a certain way, it makes me go to mush. I’ve got it so bad. So. Fucking. Bad. “You okay?” I ask quietly, my voice just a whisper. “Mm.” He responds not saying anything
Liam Damn it, what was I thinking cuddling into her like that.? I’ve not held Tate since shit knows when. I mean we were just kids when we used to cuddle and hunker up. I loved how we were when we were younger, becoming a teenager and growing into an adult can be really sucky sometimes. I easily make my way down the trellis minding not to get stabbed by the thorny roses. This trellis has been the bain of my life for so many years. If tonight hadn’t been so serious it would probably make me smile that I act like some damn cat burglar sneaking around in the middle of the night. It’s pitch black outside the sky displays an array of stars, Tate loves stars. We sometimes drive further into the mountain area and just sit on the hood of my jeep and take them in. I like them but not as much as she does, she’s kind of obsessed with them. My girl Tate, there is no-one quite like her in the world. My breathing is rapid, even though I know her folks are well and truly asleep and mine will be t
Tate I groan as I hear a knock on my bedroom door. I hardly slept at all last night. “Hey, honey are you awake?” Mom’s voice is on the other side of my door. I check my mobile it’s eight already. Shit. I said I’d meet Lilly at Doogle’s diner for nine before we head off shopping. I rub my sleepy eyes thinking I must have dropped off around three a.m after Liam left. Liam. About that. First I need to respond to my mom. “Hey, Mom. I’m awake but not up.” “No worries, darling. I’ve bought you a nice cup of herbal tea.” She opens the door and steps in. Wow, she is looking amazing for this time of morning. Her hair is blowed out and she’s wearing hot pink, straight trousers that skim her ankles and black kitten heels. Her pale pink blouse contrasts beautifully with her bottoms. “Wow, you look like a vision out of that movie, Legally Blonde.” She smiles. “Thanks, honey. Here you go. What time are you off out today?” She places my favourite Frozen mug on the bedside careful to move my book
Tate I’m still thinking about Liam when I hear Lilly beep her car horn. She loves that damn horn. Her daddy had it fixed so it sounds like one of those really cool classic motors from the 1920’s. It’s funny I guess if you like that kind of thing and Lilly can be very quirky. “Mom, I’m going. Have a lovely time at the club and tonight. See you tomorrow. It is tomorrow you’re back right?” I’m slipping into my favourite Nike’s my white ones with a swirling pattern on the back on the heel and grab my mini rucksack from my chair in the bedroom. “Mom.” I shout again. Where is she? I don’t want to have to go running around the house, it’s huge just to find her. She comes out of their room fixing an earring in her ear. “I heard you, Tate. Yes, tomorrow around four or five. Daddy has to leave early on Monday to fly to Dallas with Patrick.” My dad never gets a break but he thrives on his business, it’s his whole life aside from my mother and I. “Okay, perfect.” I move towards her and place
Tate It feels as if someone is peering over my shoulder, I can feel warm breath on the back of my neck it makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand on end. I turn swiftly ready to push back. Then I get a shock. He’s standing right behind me. SHIT. Has been hovering and watching me gazing longingly at his photo? Fuck’s sake. I hope not. “What are you doing here? I ask then notice Denver is standing right behind him. “What are you doing?” Liam asks me with a smirk on his face. Yep busted I bet. “What’s that supposed to mean? Obviously I’m standing in line for a McDonald’s.” I don’t tell him that Lilly has gone off to buy sexy lingerie for a hot date with Denver this evening. He grins, his dimples show, the ones I love and want to touch. Liam is looking fucking hot today, I have to tear my eyes away from him because just looking at him is heating me up inside. His hair is flopping all over his face and I resist the urge to move it away with my fingers and to feel his locks. I can
Liam We hung with the girls for a couple of hours but honestly shopping isn’t for me, not unless it I need something. I know that sounds kind of weird especially considering I can buy myself anything I want, anytime I want but truly I don’t care much for shopping. The girls have had a nice time going in and out of all the designer shops and Tate has bought herself some nice outfits. I love it when she looks to me for approval, even though Lilly and Tammy are with us. Denver looked bored all the time, he is itching to get to the game that starts in two hours. The girls have decided they’re coming with us. When Tate came out of one of the changing rooms with the skimpiest red halter neck dress on I’ve ever seen, I almost had a heart attack. “Where do you think you’re going to wear that?” I said without even thinking. “What’s that supposed to mean?” She retorted with her hands on her hips. I’ve never seen her wear something so revealing, it made me twinge and seriously that’s not fuck
