I froze in the middle of the office, my desk had been moved close to his office. Too close, just a few steps separated me from Jace Monroe and that proximity made my stomach knot.

I straightened the stack of folders I was holding and matched towards him. “Excuse me" I said, keeping my voice steady. “Why is my desk here?"

Jace looked up from his laptop, expressions neutral while his eyes assessing as if I was worth his attention. “Because this is where it will be" he said, after a few seconds, his tone was calm.

“That's not possible or acceptable," I said. “I need my own space. I can't work this close to—" I stopped. To him.

He raised an eyebrow. “To me?"

“Yes," I said. “Exactly. It's uncomfortable and distracting"

Jace leaned back in his chair, hands steepled under his chin. “If you don't like it, don't come tomorrow"
