Chapter 2: A Four-Year Farewell

J City.

At the southern suburb airport, a young mother was pushing luggage, with two children hopping along behind her.

"Brother, look at those uncles and aunts. They are so strange, always taking pictures of us with their phones."

The little girl tilted her head up, looking at the boy who was a head taller than her, blinking her big, watery eyes, full of confusion.

Just outside the airport, there were many people. Yvonne Harrington was dragging her luggage and hailing a taxi, completely unconcerned about this situation.

Hearing the little girl's words, the boy's pink lips curved into a smile. His face, as if carefully carved, was filled with helplessness. He slightly lowered his head to look at his sister, his eyes brimming with affection.

"Well, that's all thanks to Joanne's charm!"

The little boy, wise beyond his years, even winked at his mother after saying that. Yvonne Harrington couldn't take it anymore and shot him a stern warning glance.

Joanne Harrington, if you keep using your innocent face to attract uncles and aunts, Mommy will have something to say to you!

The little boy seemed used to such glances. He reached out with his small hand to smooth his wind-blown bangs and then gave a V sign to the aunt who was openly taking photos.

"Your children are so adorable! They’re so good-looking. Have you ever considered making them child stars?"

Seeing that the boy wasn't rejecting her, the photographer quickly put away her phone and grabbed Yvonne Harrington, who was about to get into the car. Her eyes were full of admiration and aspiration, very curious about what it felt like to be the mother of these two cute kids.

"Auntie, didn't you see we were about to leave? It's very impolite to block someone's way!"

Joanne Harrington, who had been smiling, suddenly changed his expression. Like a little adult, he ran to Yvonne Harrington, shielding his mother and sister behind him, his tone full of displeasure.

"Pretty lady, you should go now. My brother is going to get angry again."

Jodie Harrington pouted, and seeing her brother about to scold someone, she immediately reminded the woman kindly.

The word "again" was emphasized, successfully tarnishing Joanne Harrington's image once more.

The photographer, feeling embarrassed, had a slightly awkward look on her face.

Yvonne Harrington thought: Here we go, these two are starting again.

She lifted her clean face and politely smiled at the woman, reaching out to pat the two little heads. "I'm sorry, the children don't understand. With their temperaments, if you make them do something they don't want to, who knows what kind of trouble they’ll cause."

"Hmph!"

Joanne Harrington snorted, then took Jodie Harrington's hand and climbed into the back seat of the car.

Yvonne Harrington apologized to the woman again, put the luggage in, and followed them into the car.

"Joanne Harrington, did Mommy tell you to be polite? You can't talk to others like that."

The little boy, ignoring her, crossed his arms over his chest, looked out the window, and left his mother with a view of the back of his head.

Yvonne Harrington felt helpless, holding Jodie Harrington in her arms, and shook her head at her son, wondering whose personality he inherited.

"Joanne, have you booked the hotel yet? I'm so hungry. Can we eat something first when we get there?"

Jodie Harrington, looking pitiful, drooped her eyes, on the verge of tears.

"We’ll be there soon. I’ll give you milk to drink, okay? Be good~"

Yvonne Harrington hugged Jodie Harrington and planted a big kiss on her rosy cheek.

Joanne Harrington snorted again, annoyed.

"I'm not a three-year-old anymore! Stop always asking for milk!"

This remark caused the middle-aged driver in front to burst into laughter. Through the rearview mirror, he saw this family of three, so happy and harmonious, it was hard to describe how blissful they looked.

Especially those two adorable kids, one mischievous and clever, the other with a maturity far beyond his years, acting like a little adult.

And their mother, who looked like a college student, was very young.
