Mark’s POV

The sunlight was too damn bright. It streamed through the windows like it belonged here—like it had the right to touch everything in this twisted place. I wanted to rip the curtains down.

I sat on the edge of the bed, elbows on my knees, trying to push away the heavy weight in my chest. My body was stiff, sore, and every time I closed my eyes, flashes of last night slammed into me like a punch to the gut.

Alice.

I gritted my teeth, dragging a hand through my hair. I shouldn’t have touched her. Shouldn’t have let her get to me. But she knew exactly how to push my buttons—how to chip away at the part of me that still cared.

And worse? I didn’t hate every second of it.

I hated myself for that.

A soft hum broke the silence. I didn’t need to turn around to know she was awake. I could feel her eyes on me—feel her damn satisfaction polluting the air.

“You’re quiet,” she said, her voice warm and lazy. “Was it really that bad?”

I didn’t answer.

I stood up, pulling my pants on like I

Sage’s POVI wasn’t crying. I was just sitting on the couch in Mark’s living room, one leg over the other, sipping wine in one of his shirts—completely unbothered. Or at least pretending to be.Truth was that I did cry, I hate seeing Mark angry, but seeing that anger directed at me made me scared more that’s facing Cholo or Vincent. I wasn’t scared that he would hurt me.No, he would neverI was scared that all we’ve been through would have been for nothing, that he didn’t love me like I did, and he wasn’t ready to face the world at my side. But I knew he did love me, and he was scared which made me steel my resolveIf he thought I was going to fall apart because he stormed off after one mistake, he didn’t know me at all.He was the one with the issues. He was the one who cared too much about appearances. Me? I stopped caring about the world’s opinion the moment I realized I’d rather live for myself than tiptoe around someone else’s rules. He had months to figure that out. I wasn’t ab

  • DADDY'S LITTLE PLAYTHING    CHAPTER 095

Sage’s POVThe beach looked like something out of a postcard—soft waves brushed the shore, the sun was already setting, melting into the ocean like a candle, and there was not a single soul around. For once, it felt like the world wasn’t watching. For once, I could breathe.I slipped my sandals off and ran ahead, letting the sand sink between my toes. “Come on, grump,” I called over my shoulder, laughing as Mark followed behind me, shaking his head.“You’re seriously not tired of dragging me into trouble?” he muttered, though he didn’t sound mad.“I’m giving you peace,” I said, twirling around in my sundress. “God forbid we have one normal evening without bodyguards or paparazzi breathing down our necks.”Mark looked out at the ocean and sighed. His shirt was rolled up at the sleeves, and even though he tried to act calm, his fingers wouldn’t stop twitching. Always alert, always prepared. But I knew he needed this, he just didn’t know how to admit it.I walked up and wrapped my arms a

  • DADDY'S LITTLE PLAYTHING    CHAPTER 094

Mark’s POVThere’s nothing like waking up to headlines about your sex life to ruin your day.The press went nuclear. It wasn’t just one site or one tabloid—it was everywhere. My name. Sage’s name. Photos. Theories. Disgusting assumptions. “CEO caught with younger lover,” “Power imbalance?” “Billionaire boss seduces his assistant?” On and on, like sharks circling blood.I sat in my office, blinds drawn, fingers steepled under my chin as the PR team tried to talk over each other on the speakerphone.“We need a public statement—soon.”“Denial won’t work, Mark, there’s too much evidence.”“We could say it’s an old flame, nothing serious—”“She was your assistant. That’s the narrative now. That you took advantage.”I rubbed my temples. “Enough.”Silence.I took a deep breath. “I’m not throwing her under the bus. Not for you. Not for anyone.”“Mark—”“I don’t care how the story plays,” I snapped. “I don’t care what the public thinks about the age difference or the job titles or whatever mor

  • DADDY'S LITTLE PLAYTHING    CHAPTER 093

Sage’s POVWaking up next to Mark felt like a dream I didn’t want to end. His arm was still draped over my waist, his breathing slow and steady, and for a second, I didn’t move. I just stared at his face, half-lit by morning sunlight, and let myself enjoy the silence. He looked younger in his sleep. Softer, less like the fierce man who ran a company and more like the man who held me like I was something precious.I traced a finger along his jawline. “You’re way too good-looking for a forty-year-old,” I whispered, smirking. His lips twitched. “I’m thirty-nine, I would be forty,” he mumbled.I rolled my eyes. “Still old.”His eyes opened, all sleepy and green. “Still hot.”“Unfortunately.” I leaned in and kissed him.We didn’t have anywhere to be, we didn't have to rush. so, one kiss turned into two, then five, and before I knew it, I was under him again, gasping against his mouth, my fingers tugging at his shirt. And he banged the hell outta me. Not that I was complaining.I was curled

Sage’s POVI hadn’t worn heels in what felt like a lifetime.I wobbled in front of the mirror, fluffing my curls and trying not to twist my ankle before we even left the apartment. Beth was already waiting by the door, looking like a goddess in a black mini dress and hoop earrings that could double as weapons.“Come on, slowpoke,” she yelled, grinning. “We’re late and I need you drunk enough to tolerate Kara’s music taste.”“I’m coming,” I muttered, grabbing my purse and lip gloss. “If I break my ankle tonight, I’m blaming you.”“I’ll carry you home like the queen you are.”I rolled my eyes, but my lips curved into a smile. It felt… good. Weirdly good. Like a slice of normal life I’d forgotten I was allowed to have. The last few weeks had been a blur—chaos, blood, close calls, and Mark. Especially Mark. But tonight was different. Just girls. Just fun. Just… breathing. The club was already packed when we got there. Lights flashing, bass pounding, laughter spilling from every direction.

  • DADDY'S LITTLE PLAYTHING    CHAPTER 091

Mark’s POVIt felt weird wearing real clothes again.I stood in front of the mirror, tugging my shirt down, running my fingers through my hair like that would magically fix the bags under my eyes or the faint scar still healing on my jaw. I didn’t recognize the guy staring back. He looked tired, lighter maybe….but definitely tired.“You look good,” Sage said from the bed, her legs curled under her, she had a book in her lap, something she had started doing lately, reading.I turned to her, she hadn’t even looked up. “You didn’t even see me.” I pointed out, I could tell she was trying so hard not to smile. She flipped a page. “I don’t need to. I can feel it.” She said and I nodded and grinned. “You’re full of it.” I chuckled. She finally glanced up, smile small but honest. “Still true though.” She replied.I walked over, bent down, and kissed her forehead. “Be back in an hour. Maybe two.” I said. She looked up at me like she wanted to say something—then just nodded and said, “Tex
