My feet were glued, not taking my eye off from watching Ren’s retreating figure disappear through the long stretch of white sand beach.

Her words didn’t affect me - a little maybe - what pains me was the emotions clouding her jade green eyes. It was dark and deep, like a haunting fear that never allows its prey to take a wink of sleep. The kind of pain that only a person who’s been to hell and back will be able to tame, to hold and contain in the cell of her heart.
