After Alena and I parted ways, I turned into my house as well.

The plan was to hit the sack while waiting for Alena and her mother to be done with their conversation but the plan was utterly ruined as soon as I walked in and saw Mom seated on the couch.

Without thinking twice, I hid my wounded hand behind my back. "Mom, you didn't tell me you were coming. What a surprise!"

Mom springs up from the couch, approaching me with a wide smile plastered across her face.

"That's because I wanted to surprise you" She responds. "I went through the fridge and found it empty. What on earth have you been eating, Asher?"

"I haven't had time for grocery shopping yet"

"Thank goodness I came then" Mom say, pointing over to a bag ontop the kitchen counter. "I brought you some cooked food. They're your favourite"

I throw myself at Mom, hugging her ever so tightly. "Thank you"

Mom refrains from my embrace as she pulls me down to sit on the couch. "So, how has things at the hospital been?. Is it fun
