Aurora Brooks POV

I used my phone light to guide my steps and walked toward the hallway leading to the main door.

Just as I reached for the handle to leave, a man's hand suddenly grabbed my wrist.

"Where are you running off to, beautiful?"

The smell of alcohol from his mouth made me sick. I looked at his ugly, swollen face.

"Take your filthy hand off me before I break it."

I pulled free easily. He was weak. Swaying slightly.

"Do you not want to sleep with a rich businessman like me? Try me, sweetheart. You will not regret it."

I closed my eyes, my patience gone.

Then I grabbed his neck violently and squeezed until his eyes almost popped out.

"Say that again, you rotten bastard."

His breath leaked from his mouth like a dying animal. But suddenly he regained some strength and grabbed my throat the same way.

"I will fuck you right here until you learn who I am. Girls like you deserve nothing but our seed filling their wombs."

My grip loosened instantly as his hand crushed my throat harder.

Was this some kind of world day for dying?

"If you do not get away from me, I swear I will do something terrible to you."

He slammed my waist against the wall and started opening the button and zipper of my jeans.

I broke into loud sobs and screams. My voice refused to come out, as if my tongue had gone numb.

Then, in that critical moment, I heard heavy footsteps rushing toward us.

A tall shadow blocked the light of my phone on the floor.

Darkness filled the corridor.

A burning voice exploded through the narrow hallway.

"One more move and you lose your life."

Both of us turned toward the sound.

Only his face was visible under the light of my phone.

Relief and shock rushed through me.

"Mr. Alexander Roth!"

His furious breathing answered for him.

His fist smashed into the man's face. Hard. Brutal.

The bastard crashed to the ground.

Alexander pointed a finger at him, his voice dripping with rage.

"If you even think about breathing near her again, I will choke that breath out of you."

While the man groaned in pain, Alexander kicked him violently between the legs again and again.

Spit and blood flew from the bastard's mouth.

"You should thank God I am not killing you right now."

The filthy man spoke through a mouth full of blood. His arms wrapped around his injured stomach.

"That whore did not want to come with me."

I heard an angry growl from the captain.

Alexander bent down, grabbed the man by his shirt, and slammed him against the wall. I could see his legs hanging in the air through my tear-filled eyes.

"You picked the wrong woman, you piece of trash."

His fist crashed into the man's forehead.

One brutal hit.

The man went unconscious instantly.

I gasped in horror behind them.

"Oh my God… what did you do to him?"

Alexander dropped him. The body hit the floor like a dead sack.

Then he turned to me.

His eyes could burn a forest to ashes.

"I gave him a lesson he will remember as long as he lives."

He grabbed my hand tightly and dragged me outside. Seconds later fresh air rushed into our lungs.

He stopped beside his shining car. Standing next to it almost made me feel like an important businesswoman.

"What do you want, Mr. Alexander Roth? Why do you keep following me everywhere?"

He rubbed his face painfully. I noticed the sharp sting in his chest when his hand pressed against his heart.

I raised my voice so he could not ignore me again.

"I am talking to you. Why will you not answer?"

He closed his eyes slowly, fighting something inside himself.

"Lower your voice, Aurora Brooks."

I refused.

It was enough that he terrified me with that threatening note like some kind of mad criminal.

"No. Talk to me. Why did you come here and ruin my work?"

Suddenly he stepped toward me with tense nerves and grabbed my hair hard.

My voice died in my throat.

The mechanical clench of his jaw frightened me.

"Aurora Brooks. You are selling your body in my own territory. Does my son know? Does your father know?"

Embarrassment forced my eyes closed.

He shouted.

"Look at me."

My lashes trembled under the fire burning from him. Still, I forced my eyes open and met his hard gaze.

"No. Neither of them knows."

My voice nearly choked as I finished.

"But my father... if he finds out... he might actually like it. He only cares about money. He would not care even if a stray dog slept with me."

He shook his head like a man losing control of his nerves.

"Good. Then this is the last time I see you here, Aura. If it happens again, I will do things your little brain cannot even imagine."

A bitter smile touched my lips.

Reluctantly, he released my hair.

He stepped closer. Our distance vanished.

"I would never feel honored letting my sister marry your son. A man who cannot understand other people's struggles. And all of that comes from your narrow mind."

His eyes wandered across my face quietly. I was pretending to be just as cruel as him.

The way his expression tightened at my last words was strange.

Then he raised his finger toward my face.

"And I would never feel honored letting my son marry the sister of a whore like you."

A bomb exploded inside my heart.

It shattered everything.

It was not fair. Not fair at all. All I could think about was how he dared to say something so cruel.

I lifted my head. Not because I was strong.

But because I refused to let a tear fall.

"You know I am not that."

He walked to his car and opened the door violently.

"Prove it to me. Or I will prove the opposite myself."

He climbed into the car and slammed the door shut.

At the same moment, my tears finally broke free.

Hot water burned my skin without mercy.

All I wanted was to pick up a rock and smash his car windows.

I would not even care if he died because of it.

In fact... I truly hoped he would.
