Aurora Brooks POV

As we walked toward the street to catch a taxi, I grabbed Ivy’s hand. She turned her neck to look at me.

"I have to go to work now. Can you get home safely?"

She nodded with disappointment. It felt as if I had signed a slavery contract with that bar.

"We can manage. Do not worry. We will get there safely."

I squinted my eyes in a bright smile, using the last bit of my strength to fake it, then handed her the shopping bags.

"I will be home before ten. I will try to work from six until nine thirty."

She muttered while pointing to a taxi.

"Take care of yourself, Auro."

I arrived about ten minutes later. The moment I walked in, Nicole attacked me with questions.

"Aurora, you still have not told me what happened in the upper suite that day."

I placed my bag on the bar and looked at her with cold eyes.

"Where have you been until now?"

She hurried toward the liquor cabinet behind her.

"I was traveling. Mister Martin gave me a week off."

A bottle of water and a glass sat on the table. The moment I saw them, my throat went dry with thirst.

"Happy vacation, Nicole. But I do not want to remember that cursed night while telling you about it."

She slammed a whiskey bottle down hard. The sound made me remember his rigid hands.

"Did he touch you?"

I pictured him sliding the straps of my dress down in a slow, tempting way. A strange feeling moved inside me. I pushed the thought away.

"You mean..."

She understood from my tone. She nodded.

I shook my head in shock.

"No. Are you crazy? Who would want to sleep with a virgin?"

A look of disgust crossed my face. The real question was who I would allow to touch me while I was still a virgin.

"I will not allow him or anyone else. You know very well I am not into that kind of thing."

Her body relaxed and she grabbed my hand.

"I prayed so much when I saw you going upstairs with him. I thought he would assault you."

I drank the water before looking away.

"He could not. I would have been the one attacking him despite his huge size."

A man in a blue suit sat beside me. His black hair was styled neatly. He rested his hand on his arm and spoke in a serious voice.

"Should I get you ladies a drink? If it helps you relax."

Nicole muttered with a nervous voice. The girl clearly liked him but did not want to admit it. My instincts are sharp.

"Martin."

He took the glass from my hand and spoke firmly.

"Martin is outside the workplace. Here you call me Mister Martin, Nicole."

She smiled shyly.

"Okay, Mister Martin."

I sighed at the lovebirds trapped inside a small cage, then stood up to go to the dressing room.

Before I could move, Mister Martin’s words froze me in place.

"You almost fainted because of the little tiger, did you not?"

We had never talked like this before. Our relationship usually ended with my payment at the end of the week.

"He was not as scary as his owner."

Without turning around, I answered seriously and walked to the place where I changed my clothes.

Five hours later my shift ended. I took a short break, then returned to the stage.

A tight black dress hugged my body like a guest of honor. The eyes of the bastards in the crowd kept flattering me, hoping for even a small glance.

I did not give them one.

I will not repeat my previous mistake.

I was thirty minutes late for the guests’ arrival.

I stood on the sidewalk with tense limbs, my eyes ready to cry.

I was not afraid of my father as much as I was sad for my sister. She was probably crying just like me now.

I sat on the cold sidewalk chair and placed my hand on my chest, trying to stop another panic attack.

It was my way to release everything I had lived through and everything waiting for me tonight if a taxi did not stop.

"Calm down, please."

I punched my chest hard while gasping for air. It felt like I was breathing through a thin hole that could close at any second.

My tears would not stop. I imagined the events waiting for me and the dark room in our house.

Suddenly a taxi stopped in front of me.

I ran toward it as if I had found the door to salvation. I asked the driver to hurry. He obeyed.

Minutes later I arrived in our neighborhood. My steps grew faster.

Near the house, I heard my father’s disgusting laughter. It sounded vulgar, like he was trying to hide something with it.

Strangely, no other voice could be heard.

With trembling hands, I opened the door slowly and slipped my head inside like a thief.

My eyes landed on Ivy sitting close to a handsome young man. My mother was serving coffee. Amelia was talking to a girl.

Before I could step forward, my eyes met a pair of eyes watching me closely.

He raised his coffee to his lips with calm dignity.

That dark cloud on his face was still there. It had grown worse after he saw me sneaking in.

I whispered under my breath as if talking to myself.

"Oh my God."

He tilted his head slightly. His black eyes stayed on me while my father answered someone angrily.

"What is this man doing here?"

I could not delay any longer. My father would kill me for sure.

I placed my hand on my jaw, begging silently for him not to speak so I could run to the stairs.

He understood.

He moved his eyes away from me and asked my mother where the bathroom was.

I slapped my palm against my forehead in shock.

"I cannot believe this. What brought this bastard into my house?"

Before I could open my bedroom door, a huge body pushed me inside.

I thought my father had followed me to teach me a lesson.

"Easy, Dad. I almost fell."

The moment I turned my face, my body froze.

His voice came out full of cold authority.

"You are lucky I am not your father."

He walked toward me slowly.

I stood still despite the fear.

"If I were him, I would not hesitate to punish you for entering the house at this hour."

He noticed how my expression hardened to match his anger.

I asked darkly.

"What are you doing in my house?"

His tall body pushed me backward.

He slid one hand into his pocket while his eyes studied every inch of my face.

"The better question is what you are doing here."

I lifted my head and laughed with contempt.

"Logically, you are the intruder. This is my house."

Without hesitation, he grabbed my jaw and pulled it back with a hard grip.

"So the scared bar dancer is the sister of my future daughter in law."

I smiled proudly, the opposite of the dark displeasure on his face.

"Yes. Do you object? Your son did not say anything."

With his firm grip still on my face, he dragged me toward the bed.

He threw me onto it and climbed over me, keeping his painful hold.

He inhaled sharply between his teeth.

"Listen to me, little girl. This marriage will not happen. I am not ready to let my son marry the sister of a bar dancer."

I laughed lazily while studying his features.

He looked damn handsome to my eyes, even though he reminded me of my father when he was angry.

"Mister Alexander. So I finally learned your famous name."

I wet my lips, then wrapped my leg around his waist.

His grip loosened. His eyes dropped to my leg.

"What are you trying to do?"

In seconds I pulled him closer with my leg. He was distracted, so it was easy to flip him over me. He resisted by placing his hand against the wall.

I bit my lower lip and spoke with bold challenge.

"Great Captain, this marriage will happen. Your son and my sister love each other like crazy. No matter how disgusting you think my job is."
