Zella

The floor was cold as ice under my knees. There was a hand around my neck, and I fought desperately to get it off to get him off.

No one is coming, cry all you want.

My nails clawed at my throat. It burned. Oh god, everything burned. Why was it so dark? Why was I back in the dark again, under that hand, that smell, that voice.

“Mrs. King?”

I jerked when someone grabbed my arm.

“Don’t touch me!” I screamed, scrambling backward until my spine hit the wall. Oh no. Oh no, I was trapped again.

“Mrs King, we need to get you out-”

“Liar! Liar, don't touch me. I'll kill you if you touch me ever again!” I cried. My chest rose and fell, my eyes darted everywhere, but it was so hard to see. The hand choking me around my throat was back and again, and I coughed and wheezed, squeaking out a weak “Help me,”

There was silence, and then there were loud, quick footsteps. I knew these footsteps.

“Ella.”

How was he here? I could barely see through the tears that filled my eyes and the darkness

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    Out for blood

ZellaSteel grey eyes were staring at me during the dinner. Isaiah had been very quiet, which was odd. He was quiet around others but never around me. The man always had something naughty to say. What made it even more odd was that he hadn't said a word about what happened at the plaza. He should be mad or something along that line.Something was wrong. It was just the two of us, Nina had been sent home after she made dinner. I tried to eat, tried to pretend I didn’t feel his eyes burning holes through my skin.“Isaiah,” I finally whispered, setting my fork down. “You haven’t eaten anything,”His grip tightened around his cutlery before he asked in a cool voice. “Do you know what would’ve happened if I hadn’t come to that plaza today?”Good, this was expected. He would

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    Red hood mystery

IsaiahI zoomed in on the image Gloria had sent to me. It was a picture of the pre-contract Miss Hawthorne had signed to snatch that land right under my nose. Attached to the picture was a message from Gloria. When you find her, let me know, I have some business with that witch.I ignored the text and stared at the signature at the bottom of the document. There was a large Z and a couple of scribbles all over it.Nico sat before my desk, playing with a yoyo.“Have you run this through the database?”“Already tried. Nothing’s pulling up. Whoever this woman is, she’s good at covering her tracks.” Nico grunted.I gritted my teeth. No one was untraceable. I already had my hands full dealing with whoever it was that had been trying to kill me, now I had to fi

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    His leverage over her

Zella“You have some nerve showing up before me,” I spat, shooting up from my chair so fast it scraped against the floor.. “What the hell are you doing here?”The pompous bastard strutted towards the chair before my desk and plopped himself in it. “Oh, relax, darling. I’m just here to discuss our contract. I saw your pretty little email of termination, and I just wanted to make sure we were on the same term.”My hands curled into fists, my nails digging hard into my palm. “Whatever business you had with me is over! You're crazy if you still think I would work with you after what you did,”“But your crazy husband beat the shit out of me. Isn't that enough for you?” The nonchalant way he spoke only made me hate him more. I never would have thought that Rafael would try to freaking rape me. “Leave! I want y

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    Nina's threat

Zella“I can’t believe this right now.”I was outside Diana's workshop along with several hundreds of people, watching thick black smoke fill the sky. Firefighters were still putting out the fire while I just watched my design and hard work go up in flames.“Are you okay, Zella? Did the smoke get into your lungs? Tell me if your chest feels too tight.” Isaiah demanded, wrapping a towel around me and tilting my head back so he could examine me for injuries. I had none. Thankfully, everyone left the building uninjured.“It’s not fair,” I muttered, feeling the urge to scratch and pull out my hair. I was sad - no, this bubbling feeling in my veins was not sadness it was anger. I was pissed. “Weeks of planning and working, just gone like that. Why can’t anything go right for me? Why does something always have to go

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    Somebody call 911

Zella“Smile for the camera!”It had been eight days since the whole Detroit thing had happened. Dad had come over because I wasn't picking up his calls and hadn't told him if I successfully acquired the land or not. I told him I did and managed to send him the pre-contract a few days later through a dispatch. I didn't want Isaiah suddenly stumbling on the document. The lady, Gloria, mailed the document to Dad, and I was thankfully no longer caught up in whatever this whole scheme was.I will find you, Chica.I shrugged off the threatening words from Gloria and focused on getting another picture with Diana. I had finished the designs for her building, and tonight was the launch party. There were to be at least five hundred people, including the press and reporters, ready for a tour of Diana Sterling's new workshop.“Zella, i

  • Daddy’s Good Girl    Spoilt silly by his man

Zella“I'm fine,” I sniffed, wiping my tears quickly. I hadn't been able to stop myself from crying. I had arrived about an hour ago, and everything that had happened came crashing down on me all at once. I stashed my costume in the storage closet, hoping I would never use or wear it again, flopped on the bed, and bawled my eyes out. What if Isaiah hadn't shown up? Running away from him had gotten me in Rafael's car in the first place.“You don't sound fine, Princess,”The bed dipped as he climbed on, settling beside me. His hand cupped the back of my head, pulling me closer. “What's wrong? Did something happen yesterday?”Could I tell him? What would I even say?Hey, so funny story, I'm the woman who stole the land right under your nose because Dad asked me too and almost got raped by Rafael Newman?&n
