Circle soldiers formed a perimeter around the blast site—rifles lifted, scopes glinting, drones humming overhead. Red laser dots danced across the snow like a silent warning.

“DOWN!” Alexander hissed, dragging Lena behind a fallen log.

Elias stepped in front of both of them, glowing like a small sun ready to erupt.

His amber eyes narrowed, jaw clenched.

“They want her,” he said, voice low.

“They’ll have to go through me.”

Sable stood a few meters away, hands raised lazily, as if she were bored.

“They won’t negotiate,” she said calmly.

“They’ll shoot to kill.”

Alexander looked at her sharply.

“Is that supposed to be helpful?”

Sable smirked.

“No. It’s supposed to be realistic.”

Lena peeked over the log.

There were dozens of soldiers. Maybe more. All armored. All armed.

Her blood ran cold.

“They knew we were here,” she whispered.

“They were waiting.”

Alexander nodded grimly.

“They must’ve tracked the facility’s collapse. Or Sable led them here.”
