When he was done changing, he got into the car without a word. My face was still burning, and I could feel the heat radiating from my cheeks. He just sat back in his seat as I started the engine, his expression unreadable. I kept my eyes fixed on the road, following the GPS to our destination.

When we arrived at the hotel, Marco and Antonio were already there, their faces as stony as ever. Antonio shot me a look like he could kill me. He was the only person who seemed to see me as a threat, and I in all honesty, I was. Marco, however, walked over to my side of the car, his massive frame still somehow moving with surprising grace.

"Did you manage to stop the bleeding?" he asked.

"Yeah, I did," I replied, "He's fine."

"Did he bleed a lot?" Marco's eyes, usually so blank, held a flicker of genuine concern.

Dante, who had just gotten out of the car, cut in. "I'm fine Marco. Stop asking stupid question." He then turned to me. "Wait here with Marco. I won't be long."

Antonio scoffed, a loo

I strode into the hotel lobby, the scent of expensive perfume and polished marble filling the air. I told Liam to wait at the lobby with Marco as I went ahead with Antonio. The doors to the elevator opened with a soft chime, and we stepped inside. "Are you sure you're alright, Boss?" Antonio asked as soon as the door shut."I'm fine," I replied, my voice flat, my eyes on the floor numbers as they lit up.He gave me a concerned look. "We should go to a hospital. Just for a checkup, to see if there are any internal injuries."I simply nodded. This was a familiar ritual. My condition…my inability to feel physical pain was a double edged sword. It made me immune to pain, but it also made me vulnerable. I could have a life threatening injury and I wouldn't be able to tell because I couldn't feel it. Only a handful of people knew about this. My brothers, Marco, and Antonio. They were the only people I trusted with my life.“Do you still have those flashbacks?” He asked concerned.“I'm fi

I pulled Liam into my body, my arms wrapped tightly around his much smaller frame as the car crumpled around us. When the silence returned, I pulled back slightly, my hands on his shoulders, my eyes scanning his face. "Are you okay?" I asked, my voice filled with a concern that was uncharacteristic of me. I checked his body for any wounds, but found none. He was fine. Thank goodness. Before I could say anything else, the gunfire started. I rolled my eyes, a sense of annoyance replacing the concern. That damned Raymond was obviously a man child. Antonio and Marco were already in motion, their guns drawn, as their movements were quick and efficient as expected, and in a matter of moments, it was over.I raised my head, looking outside at the scene of the massacre. Bodies lay scattered across the road, so I hopped out of the car, my movements fluid, as I watched Marco drag a man by the collar, throwing him at my feet. "Only survivor boss." He grunted. I stared at the man, and his eyes

The next day started unpleasantly. I woke up to the news that my shipments had been seized by customs. And they were even legitimate goods. Those fuckers wanted to mess with me.I slammed my fist on the desk in my study in frustration, "Antonio," I snapped, "get the Minister of Trade on the line. I need a meeting with him, immediately!"Antonio did as he was told. He made the call on speakerphone, and I listened to the conversation. “We would like a meeting.” He said with his voice clipped. “I am sorry to inform you, but the minister currently isn't available. I can book a meeting in a month's time if you would like.” The voice from the other end suggested. I scoffed at the audacity. I should wait a month? It was clear from the tone of the minister's assistant that this wasn't going to go my way.Antonio hung up, "He says the minister is busy and won't take the call."I hissed, the sound of air through my teeth sharp with annoyance. "I anticipated it anyway. They say he's like a st

I reached for a remote on my desk and turned on the small monitor hidden in the bookshelf. The screen flickered to life, showing a live feed from the camera I had placed in Liam's room. I noticed he had snopped around to check for cameras in his room but Marco had hidden it somewhere He would never see, no matter how good he was at detecting these things. He should be amusing. He should distract me from…all of these horrible memories that was drowning me.I poured a glass of wine, the deep red liquid swirling in the glass, and I watched him. He was pacing back and forth restlessly in his room and I wondered what he was thinking about in that head of his. I watched as he reached into a bag and pulled out a small device. I saw his eyes scan the room, and then he put it away. He went to his wardrobe and grabbed some clothing. He quickly changed into a black hoodie with dark pants. I took a slow sip of my wine, as I kept watching intently. “What is my little kitten up to now?”I watched

I woke up with a singular purpose. And that was to mess with the little cop. I wanted to see how far his desperation to maintain his cover would push him, so I dragged him along to the wine import factory. As soon as we arrived, I ordered Liam around like a personal errand boy just to test his patience. “Go and get the quarterly reports from Larry's office now.” I pointed toward the far end of the warehouse. “And make sure they are categorized by profit margin, not by date.” I watched as he scrambled, his movements quick and efficient. My satisfaction grew as I saw him move through the large, bustling space trying to get the work done. After he completed one errand, I assigned a more difficult one just to mess with him. Then I joyfully decided to educate him about the importance of wine and how each one is different from the other.I could tell he was annoyed, but he didn't show it as he kept up his facade. I would like to see how long he can keep it up.I lit a cigar, taking a long,

As we drove, I kept staring at the photo of this Liam Carter. I hoped he looked as good as he does in the picture."Are you absolutely sure you want to hire him, Boss?" Antonio voiced out. His gravelly annoyed voice only grated on my nerves. I stopped looking at the screen and shot him a hard glare, my eyes narrowing. "You're starting to talk too much. Do you have a problem with my decisions?"He immediately stiffened, his head snapping down. "No Boss. I apologize."I rolled my eyes and continued staring at the pic. “We've arrived, boss.” the driver announced and I looked up. As soon as we stepped out of the car, Marco was already there waiting, with his usual expression."Everything's been taken care of, Boss," he rumbled, his voice a deep bass that was far more pleasant than Antonio's.I simply nodded and headed into the building. Workers scattered as soon as they saw me approaching, their faces pale with a mixture of fear and respect. Miss Rossi, my head of human resources, pract
