CHARLENE'S POVThat's probably why my pulse was increasing rapidly. As my mind raced in endless circles, trying to understand the situation, the person on the couch noticed me looking at him through the windows of my house and turned to look at me. His emerald eyes widened when he saw me, and his face instantly contorted into a shocked expression. He stood and began running towards the front gate of my estate. CHARLENE'S POV"Where is he?" I asked hurriedly. "Why hasn't anyone found him yet?" I added anxiously. "Your mate is still in the hospital. It's been three days. We tried calling him to see how he was doing, but there was no response," the male replied calmly. "How long will it take for the doctors to fix him?" I asked hopefully. The male shrugged. "A while." "What do you mean 'a while'? Is he going to die?" I cried. "Calm down, Charlene. He will be okay," the male said, holding me back. "How do you know that?" I demanded. "You don't know that, Charlene. Your mate isn't strong enough to defeat someone who has the power to manipulate gravity and time to their will," he responded. I hesitated. "If he is powerful enough to fight that, then maybe he won't die..." I murmured. "You still don't believe us, do you?" the male said in exasperation. "Yes. Of course I do! CHARLENE'S POVI didn't dare to breathe as I waited nervously for one of the men to enter the room. Just when I thought that my heart was going to stop beating, the wooden door swung open, revealing the third guy from earlier. He was holding a tray with four bowls on it. He carefully set the tray down on the floor next to the bed. "Hey Charlene, are you feeling any better now?" He greeted me cheerfully. I looked up at him warily. What is happening? I wondered. He walked closer and extended a bowl towards me. "Here, eat some breakfast, sweetheart," he urged. Still hesitant, I grabbed the bowl with shaking hands and raised it to my lips. As I began to drink, I realized that the liquid was warm, and that I hadn't eaten anything all day. I gulped down half of the bowl before setting it down. The second man had returned with another bowl. I watched warily as he poured water into it until a few drops dripped down to land on the floor. He put that down as well. "You seem a bit nervous.

CHARLENE'S POVA tall, dark haired girl smiled at me. She sat down beside me on a bench near the edge of a small lake. "Are you feeling better now?" she asked softly. I nodded slowly, looking down at my lap. "What's wrong?" She reached over and brushed away some stray hairs that framed my face. Her fingertips caressed my cheek, leaving goosebumps in their wake. "Who are you? Why are you here?" Her eyes flashed with anger. Suddenly her hand shot out, grabbing my wrist so forcefully that my entire arm was lifted off the ground. She twisted my arm painfully before slamming me hard against the stone bench behind us. "How dare you question our presence?" "Let go of me!" I cried out in pain as my elbow hit the bench seat. With a growl, she pushed me again, causing me to stumble. I grabbed onto the bench tightly. She snarled angrily, leaning forward until she almost touched my face. "Do you think you're above us just because you were–" Tears streamed down my face and blurred my visio

CHARLENE'S POVI guess people do actually need to sleep sometimes, huh?" I laughed awkwardly. The gray wolf didn't respond and simply kept walking. After a few moments of silence, he spoke. "So how did you make such a big commotion earlier?" "Oh, um, well..." "I think it would have been best if we had avoided that." The gray wolf frowned and shook his head sadly. "It's okay. It was bound to happen eventually." "Yeah," I murmured weakly. "But still… I hate seeing all of you suffer like that…" "We understand." He shrugged. "Anyway, it's too late to worry about it now. Let's just go." With a sigh, I followed suit. When we returned home that night, I was greeted by a large crowd waiting inside. Upon spotting us, they hurried over, excited chatter filling the house. "Hey Charlene, look what I got!" "Look who came early again today!" "Did you see what happened?" As everyone surrounded us, Xavier stepped forward and put his arm around my shoulders. "Thanks for watching her, guys."

CHARLENE'S POVI placed my hand firmly across my chest. "My heart is broken. My body is weak from losing so much blood. My mind cannot hold the memories anymore. Xavier shouted as he grabbed my shoulder and yanked me toward him. He grabbed onto my face roughly as he stared me in the eye, his expression one of pure anger. "There's simply no way you could be such an evil person!" He threw my hand away violently, sending me stumbling backwards slightly. "Xavier, calm down." "Don't tell me to calm down! You are sick!" I frowned at his outburst, clenching my fists tightly. "I'm not sick! I'm not crazy! Everything has always been just too much!" "Charlene, please calm down!" His pleas were useless, however. CHARLENE'S POVIt was as though there was a large, transparent dome overhead. It looked to be made out of glass instead of concrete. I looked around nervously as I walked carefully, wondering why I wasn't getting crushed by the amount of weight that was being added onto me at a rapid pace. Suddenly, the whole area around me began to shake lightly, causing me to stumble slightly. I raised my eyebrows in surprise, confused as to what was happening. It couldn't be an earthquake, surely? No way… Another quake shook the ground violently as I stared at the ceiling apprehensively, waiting for it to pass. When it did, however, it was replaced by a faint rumbling noise which grew louder and louder. I looked around in alarm, trying to figure out where exactly it was coming from. Suddenly the shaking intensified, making me almost lose my balance. I struggled to regain my balance before continuing on. CHARLENE'S POVAs they entered the room, the man in the front stepped forward menacingly with his arm extended in front of the woman defensively. He shouted threateningly, "Where's the kid? Where is she?" The female wolf growled fiercely at him, "Keep your voice down, you idiot! If you wake her up, you'll never hear the end of it." He sighed irritably, "Fine…" he conceded reluctantly, although his eyes were still narrowed dangerously at her. "I hope she's worth it." As the two stopped a couple of yards away from me, I noticed a long cut across his chest which covered most of his shirt. He must be hurt badly enough to need medical attention! But what could I do to help? I couldn't heal the injury, and there was definitely no way for me to transport him anywhere without risking exposure.
