Michael’s POV

The hallway still lingered in my chest like an aftertaste I couldn’t spit out.

I could still remember Dominique’s smug little smirk. The sharp smell of Fernando’s cologne on his skin, like proof seared into my nostrils.

I hadn’t realized I was gripping my own hands so hard until the door to Fernando’s and my room shut behind Ashley and me, muffling the rest of the mansion into silence.

I paced across the large room, each step sounding faintly against the Persian rug, my chest tightening with anger I couldn’t shake off.

Ashley leaned against the edge of the velvet armchair near the window, arms crossed, her expression carrying that same calm sharpness she always wore when she wanted to press me about something.

But she didn’t start right away. She watched me.

I hated being watched, especially when I wasn’t sure what I was feeling myself.

“Michael,” Ashley said finally, her voice smooth and faintly amused, like she was picking at a thread only she could see. “You’re st

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Pressure of Blood

Fernando’s POV The sun had started to fall lower in the sky, bleeding gold across the field, but all I could see was failure.Henry’s team had been on the defensive since the whistle blew. They stumbled over passes, missed easy shots, and their coordination was falling apart like glass under pressure. The scoreline on the electronic board mocked them with 3–0, favoring the other team, and at the center of that crumbling mess stood Henry. He was trying, that much was obvious. Sweat clung to his hair and dripped down his temples. His small frame trembled each time he ran down the field, chasing the ball with a desperate sort of determination. But it wasn’t enough. The ball came toward him again, and I held my breath. He drew his leg back, the crowd hushed, and he kicked but missed. The ball soared too high, slicing through air, landing harmlessly behind the goalpost. The opposing team’s parents cheered. I could feel the sound like a punch to my chest.Michael, sitting beside me, cl

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Field

Michael’s POV As the convoy of cars approached the field for the scheduled soccer match, Henry’s small hands fidgeted on his lap. His eyes darted between the window and me, a mix of excitement and nerves evident.“Michael,” he said softly, “do you think we’ll win today?”I smiled. “You’ve been practicing every weekend. You’ll do great.”He beamed. His small chest puffed up the way it always did when I complimented him. From the driver’s seat, Emilio’s deep voice cut in. “We’re arriving now.”The convoy slowed, turning into the grassy parking field beside the school. Parents stepped aside, eyes following us. It wasn’t every day they saw bulletproof cars roll up for an elementary game. Our car came to a stop and Emilio stepped out immediately, scanning the perimeter, his sunglasses catching the glare. Then he walked around and opened my door.I nodded and stepped out, the warm air brushing against my face. The sound of the crowd hit me all at once, children calling each other, par

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Promise on the Field

Michael’s POVSaturday mornings in this house always felt different, lighter, somehow. The air didn’t hum with business calls or footsteps echoing through the marble halls; instead, it carried the simple chaos of Henry’s laughter. He was already in his soccer uniform, bouncing on his toes in the foyer as I adjusted his shin guards. The white and blue jersey was a size too big, the sleeves brushing his elbows, but he wore it proudly.“Michael, look!” he said, spinning around to show off the number seven on his back. “It’s just like the real players.”I smiled, unable to hide the warmth spreading through me. “You look like the captain of the whole team, Henry.”He puffed out his small chest. I ruffled his hair and stood, adjusting my own jacket as the sound of faint footsteps approaching reached my ears.“Michael,” Anabelle said coldly, holding Henry’s water bottle. “We should leave soon if we don’t want to be late.”I nodded, already sensing the sharpness under her politeness. “Emi

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Pull of Vows

Michael’s POVThe clinking of glassware filled the room as the wedding planner held two shades of ivory against the sunlight streaming through the tall windows.“One is moonlight cream,” she said, “and the other is classic pearl. They look similar, but the undertone completely changes the mood of the ceremony. What do you think?”I blinked at the samples, pretending to care. They looked identical to me.“I think they both look fine,” I said carefully.Chloe tilted her head, reading my tone. “Fine? Michael, fine is not the word a groom should use three weeks before his wedding.” She laughed, the sound high and practiced. “Let’s make it magical! You and Don Fernando deserve perfection.”I managed a weak smile. “Right. Magical.”She continued talking, her voice rising and falling in waves of professional enthusiasm.I nodded when appropriate, but my mind was elsewhere. My thoughts drifted toward the ticking clock on the wall, its steady rhythm louder than her endless chatter. In three

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The Pretend Truce

Fernando’s POVThe air outside Ashley’s apartment building felt thick with waiting. The kind of stillness that appeared just before a storm. I sat in the back seat of my car, my fingers tapping against the leather, the faint rhythm echoing the restlessness in my chest.Dominique sat in the driver’s seat, silent for once, his jaw tight as he watched the apartment windows. He had been quiet for nearly ten minutes before he finally spoke.“Don Fernando,” he said softly, his voice carrying that careful tone he used when he was testing my mood. “We haven’t… been together in a while.”I looked up from my phone and blinked at him. His reflection met mine in the rear-view mirror, sharp cheekbones, dark eyes, lips pressed with restrained frustration.I sighed. “Dominique, this isn’t the time.”“When is it ever the time anymore?” he muttered. “It’s always work, Michael, or your damn plans.”I felt the annoyance flicker through me, not because of what he said, but because he was right. Still,

  • Dark Possession: Bound To The Mafia Don   The First Day of Suspension

Ashley’s POV The first day of suspension was supposed to feel like punishment but as I leaned against the kitchen counter, arms crossed, watching Nick crouched under my sink with his tool belt glinting beneath the light, I couldn’t bring myself to care. The only thing occupying my mind right now was the way the muscles in Nick’s arms shifted beneath his rolled-up sleeves every time he moved a wrench. He grunted softly, the sound deep and low.“You really did a number on this pipe,” he said from under the cabinet.I forced a casual tone. “Guess I’m just unlucky.”“Unlucky?” His voice came muffled. “Looks more like someone’s been kicking it.”I smiled to myself, tracing the rim of my coffee mug with my finger. “Maybe it was a crime of passion.”Nick slid out from under the sink, wiping his hands on a rag. “A crime, huh? Should I be worried about being your next victim?”I tilted my head. “Depends. Are you planning on overcharging me?”That earned a laugh, warm and easy.I still cou
