Michael looked at me like I had shattered his entire world. His wide eyes, the sharp hitch of his breath, the way his body stiffened—all of it sent a thrill down my spine.

Beautiful.

The disbelief painted across his face, the sheer helplessness in his gaze, made my blood run hot.

It was a rare sight, watching someone as careful as Michael unravel, and I drank in every second of it.
