Grey brought the car to a smooth stop in front of the penthouse building. He glanced at Camille in the passenger seat.

She looked exhausted, still wearing the same clothes from the hospital, the faint traces of dried blood still visible on her sleeves even after a quick wash at the hospital bathroom.

“Ten said he'll stay back at the hospital.” Grey said quietly. “In case the doctors need anything for Boss.”

Camille only nodded. She didn’t trust her voice yet.

Grey walked her up to the private

  • Darling Husband's Regret    Chapter 90

Victor arrived at the quiet residential building on the outskirts of the city. The location Dante had sent was modest, almost deliberately ordinary. He stepped out of the car, adjusted his coat, and walked up to the door. He didn’t bother knocking twice as the door opened before he could.Dante stood there, still bandaged on one arm and with fading bruises on his face. He looked tense, eyes constantly flicking past Victor toward the street as if expecting someone else to appear.“Come in,” Dante muttered, stepping aside. They walked into the small living room in silence. The curtains were drawn with a single lamp on.“Good day, Mr. Valdez,” Dante said carefully.Victor didn’t return the greeting. He stopped a few feet away and looked at the younger man with cold, assessing eyes.“I want to make sure I came here for the right thing,” Victor said. “You told me you have proof that my wife was murdered… because you did it.”“Yes. I was ordered to do it. She’s after my life right now, and

Grey brought the car to a smooth stop in front of the penthouse building. He glanced at Camille in the passenger seat. She looked exhausted, still wearing the same clothes from the hospital, the faint traces of dried blood still visible on her sleeves even after a quick wash at the hospital bathroom.“Ten said he'll stay back at the hospital.” Grey said quietly. “In case the doctors need anything for Boss.”Camille only nodded. She didn’t trust her voice yet.Grey walked her up to the private elevator and rode with her in silence. When the doors opened on the penthouse floor, he stayed back.“I’ll be downstairs if you need me.”Camille gave him a small nod of thanks and walked the short distance to the suite door alone. Her hand trembled slightly as she pressed the code and pushed the door open. The soft click of the door made the maid in the living room look up. The woman’s eyes widened the moment she recognized her.“Madam Camille…” the maid breathed, clearly shocked. She quickly w

The hospital waiting area was almost empty at this hour. Harsh fluorescent lights hummed overhead, casting a cold white glow over the rows of plastic chairs. Camille sat alone in one of them, her body rigid, eyes fixed on the closed double doors of the operating theatre. The clothes she was still wearing were stiff with dried blood, Roderick’s blood. It covered her hands, her arms, the front of her top. She hadn’t washed it off. She couldn’t bring herself to.Her fingers were locked together so tightly the knuckles had gone white. Every few minutes her breathing would hitch, but she forced it steady again. She couldn’t fall apart. Not yet. Not while he was still there.Footsteps approached her as Ten stopped a few feet away, his usual calm expression softened by concern. He looked at her for a moment before speaking.“Miguel’s body has been taken to the morgue,” he said quietly. “The police will handle the rest. Is there anything I can get you? Water? Food? A change of clothes?”Cam

The penthouse was quiet when the door opened. Ten stepped inside without knocking, his expression tense and focused. Roderick was standing near the large windows, phone in hand, looking like he hadn’t slept properly in days.Ten didn’t waste time.“Boss. I have good news.”Roderick turned immediately. “Talk.”Ten walked further into the room. “I found the merchants that Miguel paid and I tripled what he gave them and told them this is a kidnapping case. They agreed to work with us. Miguel is probably already on his way. They’re leaving tonight.”Roderick’s entire body went rigid. For a second he just stared at Ten, the words sinking in. Then he moved.“Gather our men. I want them armed and ready within the hour. We’re going to the docks and I want no delays.” Roderick ordered.“I’ve already started moving our men into position. The vehicles are waiting downstairs.” Ten said.Roderick grabbed his jacket from the back of a chair and pulled it on. His hands were steady, but his eyes were

Roderick pushed open the door to his penthouse suite and stepped inside, his movements sharp and restless. He loosened his tie with a quick tug, the silk sliding through his fingers as he tossed it onto the nearest chair. Victor followed closely, closing the door behind him with a firm click. The older man’s face was lined with exhaustion, but his posture remained straight, shoulders squared.“What the hell did you mean by what you just said on the phone?” Victor asked, his voice low but edged with disbelief. He stopped a few feet inside the room, arms crossed over his chest as he watched his son.Roderick didn’t answer immediately. He walked to the bar cart, poured a measure of whiskey into a glass, and took a long sip. The liquid burned down his throat, but it did nothing to ease the knot in his chest. He set the glass down harder than necessary, the sound clattering in the quiet space.“Someone called me,” he said finally, turning to face his father. “He said he was hired to kil

Roderick stood just outside the courthouse steps, the afternoon sun casting long shadows across the stone pavement. He adjusted his suit jacket, ready to leave, when Victor stepped up beside him.“What are your plans now?” Victor asked quietly, hands in his pockets. “About Aria?”Roderick exhaled slowly, staring out at the busy street. “I’m still going to put her on a trust fund. She’ll get it when she turns nineteen. She shouldn’t have to pay for her parents’ crimes. But right now, I need to prioritize telling her the truth. I don’t want to keep her in the dark for too long. Before that, though, I think Taylor should be the one to do it. She wants to meet her mom.”Victor nodded slowly, watching his son. “Any news on Camille?”Roderick’s expression darkened. “Not yet. It’s really difficult finding someone who doesn’t want to be found.” He paused, then added, “Anyways, I’m leaving now.”He turned and walked toward his waiting car without another word.--- The afternoon sun beat do

  • Darling Husband's Regret    Chapter 01

Camille Lockhart wondered, not for the first time, what a truly married couple looked like. Did the wife wake up to warm arms and softer kisses? Did the husband look at her like she was the only woman breathing on earth? Or was marriage simply this — two strangers sharing the same expensive cage, b

Roderick’s black Bentley rolled smoothly into the villa’s courtyard. The chauffeur quickly stepped out and opened the door for him. Roderick emerged, adjusting his cufflinks, still carrying the faint scent of Taylor’s perfume on his skin. He expected silence and order, the way things always were.

Roderick King woke up to an empty bed.The space beside him was cold, the sheets untouched. His eyes narrowed as he sat up, scanning the room. That was when he saw it — Camille’s wedding ring, placed neatly on the bedside desk like a quiet declaration of war. He stared at it for several seconds. D

“A divorce?” Roderick asked like he didn't hear her the first time. “Is this some kind of joke? Not a good time to play silly games with me, Camille.”Camille lifted her chin, even as fresh tears burned her eyes. “I said I want a divorce. Does that sound like a joke to you, Roderick?”He stared at
