LOGINAndromeda
These people looked scary, and I knew I had to tread cautiously. The atmosphere was tense, I had my heart in my mouth.
I knew the man in the seat with his legs crossed was the leader. He didn't look like a police officer, and this made it worse.
It meant only one thing for us-trouble.
“Who are you people?”
The man looked up and locked eyes with me, and I took a few steps back. His gaze was chilly, as if it was from hell itself.
I haven't seen anyone with eyes filled with so much hatred and disgust toward another. We haven't met before, but this man didn't need to speak for me to know he despised me.
[Pa!!!]
[Pa!!!]
I didn't know when one of the men got close to me, but I felt the sting of those slaps.
Blood quickly rushed to my mouth, but I swallowed it back at once. I wouldn't wish to scare Phyllis.
I fell limply to the floor, my hands clutching my cheeks. It hurt so much that I couldn't see or hear anything for a few minutes.
Why my teeth weren't lying on the floor was a mystery to me.
“You only speak when you are spoken to.” The man’s words were clear. The two slaps were for questioning the boss.
Who was this man? I needed no one to tell me he was ruthless, and wouldn't bat an eye if he had to kill someone.
“I… I’m sorry.” I apologized, not daring to look the man in the face. However, he seemed to have accepted it, as his men threw some documents on the floor.
I picked them up and glanced through, but my hands froze as I read them. Halfway through the document, I went on my knees and pleaded.
“Please, sir, spare us. Please spare us. I… I’ll do anything. I mean, I'll do anything to save my family. Please…”
I didn't care if I was slapped a thousand times. The documents contained solid proof of treason. If this ever made it to the public, the courts may not even need to sentence our whole family to death. The public would do mob justice without looking back. It was this bad.
The penalty for my dad's crimes would be for all of us to be executed with him. However, I wasn't ready to die, and I didn't wish for my younger sister to die either. For her, I would do anything.
“What do you have to offer?” The stranger finally spoke, and his words caused my body to tremble. Tears streamed down my face as I knew I had nothing to offer.
Then again, he must have come here because he had a price. He wanted something, and no matter what it was, I was ready to do it.
“If you can pay fifty million, I'll let all this go away. You have three minutes.”
He didn't need to speak twice, as I ran to my room and grabbed my phone. The screen was cracked a little, but it still had its uses.
Was this man joking with me? Fifty million dollars was a piece of cake for me. I could even pay five hundred million if he requested it.
“Huh?” My bank app declined the payment. I stared into the stranger's face apprehensively, all the while checking the time. I had one minute and thirty seconds left.
Since all my bank apps didn't work, I decided to call people I knew. No one would know they lent me money, right?
“Annabel, please send me fifty million dollars. I’ll explain everything when…”
What! I nearly blacked out at my best friend’s response.
Six months ago, I loaned her a hundred million dollars when her father's company experienced difficulties. She was supposed to pay back in three months, but she never did.
Right now, I only needed half of that amount yet she claimed she didn't have it.
I didn't dwell on it too long, as time was ticking by. I only had forty-five seconds at this moment.
“Caden, I need fifty million in twenty seconds. Please…” My elder brother didn't even wait to hear my words, but he ended the call as quickly as he picked up.
I felt he may have misheard, or just maybe the call dropped by mistake. I called back, and Caden said,
“You are a woman, Andromeda. Put your nice body to use. Don't call to ask me for money again.”
The whole place went pin-drop silence, as the strange man and his people heard our conversation. I had to put the phone on speaker, so they heard everything we discussed.
I looked back at Phyllis who was still trembling and looking listless. Then I returned my gaze to the stranger.
He still had that disgusted look marred with hatred. However, this time around, he mocked me.
It was laughable that Andromeda MacKnight couldn't afford fifty million dollars in three minutes.
I knew I had no time to bargain. In fact, I had no bargaining chip. We were alone and helpless.
“The police will be here shortly. Hand them over with the evidence.” The strange man stood up, and I moved back unconsciously. Had this been a different setting, I would have admired his looks.
Then again, I wondered why someone so attractive was being this cruel to me. The police didn't have this evidence yet, so why did he wish to torment us this way?
“Sir, please, tell me what you want.”
He was about to bypass me when I grabbed his leg. It was a reflex action, but I wasn't going to let go unless he agreed to help.
“Please, have mercy on us. I’ll do any…”
“Tsk! Don't flatter yourself, Andromeda. Do not allow your stupid brother’s words to get to your head. You do not qualify to breathe the same air as me, much less share my bed.”
Those words hit me hard, but I wasn't going to dwell on them.
I am Andromeda MacKnight, the young lady with millions of suitors wherever I went. I could never be hidden in a crowd, and in Hillview, the reporters always clamored to get a glimpse of me. Yet, this stranger said I wasn't worthy to share his bed? Didn't that mean I couldn't be a common mistress even if I wanted to?
“I'm fine with anything. I’ll be your servant if you wish...”
“Did you suddenly go deaf? I said you do not deserve to breathe the same air as me.”
His words were a huge jab. He was treating me like a plague, but I had no other choice. Since birth, I've had tens of servants at my beck and call, and I never had to lift a finger to do anything.
I was likened to royalty but suddenly, I wasn't worthy of being this stranger’s lowly servant? Who was this man, or did he only come here to torture us?
“Ok, sir. How about your servants? Don't they need servants? Please, sir, I won't dare to go anywhere near you. I can be your servants’ servant. Anything… Please, spare us….”
Andromeda “Please… Please, spare me. Please, I didn’t do anything. I know nothing about this.” All I could do was beg. There was no escape from this.“Yeah. I know. You’re innocent, but so was my girlfriend.” What? His girlfriend? “Your beloved father made sure she wouldn’t get justice, when he covered everything up.” What the heck! “My girlfriend wasn’t interested in that beast you called a boyfriend, so he humiliated her. He violated her, filmed it, and accused her of being a whore.” What the heck! When did this also happen? I watched the young man who looked to be in his late twenties squat before me. Taking a closer look at him now, I could understand why his girlfriend wouldn’t wish to do anything with Randy Mitchell. This man beat Randy in all aspects. He had a chiseled jawline that was so striking that it nearly overshadowed the deep green shade of his eyes. His nose was also pointed enough to look like a work of art. He could be mixed race. Well, he may be handsome, but he
Andromeda“Hey, can you hear me? Should I call the ambulance?” Huh? An ambulance? There were no ambulances in the afterlife, right? Andromeda… Andromeda… Open your eyes. Someone came to save you. You wouldn’t know what that monster would do if he heard about you ending up in the hospital, right? “Just hang in there. I’m calling the ambulance…”No. No. I feared what Luther might do, but what about all the people who were out to get me because of my father? A hospital wouldn’t be the safest place for me to be. At least I knew what Luther could do if he wanted to punish me. I could still guess… Luther wanted me humiliated-broken, even. Those hidden enemies, however, wouldn’t spare me… I wouldn’t wait to find out. “No.” As if a dose of adrenaline was just injected into my system, I grabbed the person’s hand with all my might. “Hey, calm down. I’m not a bad person. I’m trying to help you here, okay?” Why wouldn’t my body just listen to me and move? I couldn’t do anything else afte
Andromeda I didn’t know how long I walked, but no vehicle passed by. I knew people like Luther usually lived an isolated life, but I didn’t expect everything in a few miles here to belong solely to him. The design and layouts of most of the houses in the vicinity were just as I heard Xavier speak about them. I once overheard him say Luther personally had to vet those who wanted to purchase the properties, after they run a background check on the potential buyers. If there was the slightest bit of doubt, the applicants were rejected outright. No other considerations were made. How could one person build such a shield around himself for no reason? The wicked always found ways to stay awake when others slept. Why did I even think about that dare-devil, anyway? Of all the problems on my plate right now, the devil himself came to my mind. My feet began to hurt, then they gradually went numb. I found it harder and harder to move. The cold seeped into my bones, and I felt my teeth chatte
LutherI was in a terrible mood when the Finleys came here. Not even in my wildest dreams did I expect them to make this trip. I held myself back from snapping their necks or even giving the order for them to be gunned down where they stood. However, there was no reason to rush it. I would take my sweet time to torture that family as much as they tortured me back then. When I saw them cowering like the cowards they were, nothing made me more thrilled than the horror on their faces. To think the mere sound of gunshots caused them to be this shaken. Tsk! What if they had a gun pointed at their heads? How would they even have reacted when everyone around them breathed their last? I bet those two hadn’t even seen a person bleed out before. Probably, the closest they ever got to a gory scene was a knife accident in the kitchen. They had the guts to ask me if I had experienced a shootout in the villa before. I went through hell when they all ganged up to eliminate me. I walked through f
Andromeda “B… Boss, I never spied on you. I never did anything like that. I swear it. I didn’t, boss. Please forgive me. This once I’ll do anything you say, boss. I’ll even bark like a dog if you want me to. Just let me stay. Please!!!” He said I was his pet, so this should make him believe me, right? I’d do anything to prove my innocence. I really wanted him to drop dead, but I wouldn’t do what he accused me of. I wasn’t that bold to begin with. How could I mess with someone who had Phyllis in his hands?“Okay.” Did he just say okay? Okay, to what? Xavier paused and looked toward Luther, just as I did. Right now, I would do anything for his forgiveness. I was too impulsive earlier. I should have known he would set a trap for me, even when the villa was under attack. He was that evil. I didn’t have any plans and carelessly tried to escape just like that. What was I even thinking? I never acted this impulsively.“You say you’re sorry, huh?” He looked me dead in the eyes, amusement
Andromeda“B…Boss…” My chest felt so tight that I dropped to my knees and held onto my breath in silence. “I…” Even when I finally got my voice back, I couldn’t say a single word.Meanwhile, the man whose mere presence tormented me this way didn’t give a damn about anything. All I smelled was the thick scent of smoke from his cigar. The air around him was obviously colder.“Did you forget any personal belongings?” What! What personal belongings? I came to this house empty-handed. There was nothing on me at the time. I couldn’t even tell where he placed my phone, so why would Luther ask if I forgot any personal belongings in the room? Shit! He knew it. He could tell I tried to run away but came back for some reason. “B… Boss, I… I…” Gosh! How on earth would I make him understand that I changed my mind and came back willingly? “Get out!” What! “Huh?” Did Luther just tell me to get out? To where? This is my room, for crying out loud. “Boss?” I finally regained my wits and called out
