LOGINEliana's POV
I stood up, fixing my summer dress, and sighed. I slowly made my way toward the reception, trying not to throw my phone out the window. With the millions I make daily, I took risks in the past, secretly investing in Calvin's company, making it rise from nothing to riches in record time. He never knew I was a private investor in his company, but I bet he'll be surprised when he finds out. I never told him about the company out of fear that he would feel inferior. I cared about him, placed him on a pedestal, and allowed my world to revolve predominantly around him and all his demands. Calvin thinks that my girl trips with friends were simply 'spoiled wives' vacations'. In reality, I was constantly traveling, finding investors, quality creators, the best in the world, and in our nation, making a living for myself... hoping to find the guts one day to tell him of all my achievements. I'd daydream of how excited and happy he would be to learn I wasn't just a spoiled stay-at-home wife, but rather, a contributor and top investor in his company. Five years... five years of a happy marriage changed the moment he decided to hire Kylie Sinclair, six months ago. Kylie was a college dropout, using her beauty to her advantage when she met Calvin, begging him for a chance to become a model at his agency. He pitied her for being of a poor background, with scarce resources. It didn't take long for him to fall for her tricks. I thought he was smarter than that. He swore in the past... 'I'd never fall for anyone else?. You are everything to me.' he had said. Now, he was buying Kylie luxurious items; jewelry, clothes, perfumes, and designer bags that any girl could only dream of. Then it got more expensive... the new apartment she wanted near the beach, because... it was closer to work. He bought a new flashy sports car so he could personally drive her to her new school, fully funded by Calvin, my husband. So generous! "Did you see the gold necklace Mr. Franco bought for Kylie? Ugh, I'm so jealous," a girl said, making me clutch the phone in my hands tighter. "Yeah. I hear they came back from the Bahamas yesterday. I've been following their posts daily. He took her to the most beautiful beach hotel. Took her shopping, and dined at the finest restaurants...God, she is so lucky," another girl said, not missing the chance to glance at me. My phone buzzed with a new message from my best friend, Shannon, bringing my anger down a notch. "Hey, girly. I got your paperwork ready, are you free now? The gang wants to hang out, and Brooks tried to call you, but he said you didn't pick up. He wants to see us." she typed, making my eyes bulge. "Do not tell him about the divorce." "Why not? You're finally free of the scumbag. Brooks will be happy." she replies, making me grunt inwardly. Brooks loved to tease me, but deep down, he was always overprotective of me. We had been best friends since our diaper years, after all. And though he respected my decision to marry Calvin, he had told me countless times he wanted to smash his head in each time I had called him crying. I sighed, putting the phone down, twirling my diamond wedding ring. I turn, seeing Kylie walking toward the door of Calvin's office. She raised her brow snuggly, not missing the chance to give me a confrontational glare. Her lips tugged into a smirk as she pushed the door open and stepped inside. "Hi, baby. Are you ready to go visit your new niece? I bought that cute blanket you wanted for her." Kylie says, deliberately leaving the door faintly open, enough to allow me to hear. "So they knew... they knew all along that Calvin and she were seeing each other behind my back." I thought to myself before grabbing the phone and standing on my feet. "I'm in. I'm divorcing the bastard anyway. What do you have in mind?" I say as I throw away the gift bag in my hand and walk toward his office. My mind was still swirling with deathly thoughts of how to get revenge on him and his dumb new side piece. If it had been a year ago, when I was still blindly and stupidly in love with him, I probably would have pleaded with him, begged him for us to work things out. I would have told him I could change, and that I'd be willing to modify anything he didn't like about me, whether physical or emotional. I was so sickly in love with him. But over the last few months, the careless acts he and his new whore had pulled in front of me had turned my heart into a cold stone. If they wanted a cold-hearted bitch, then they'll get a cold-hearted bitch. If there was one thing my momma had taught me was to be humble, but never let yourself be pushed around and allowed to be used. "Always be kind, dear, but take no bull... no matter who it is." she had said in the past. I had nearly forgotten who I was. It was time I fixed my damn crown, and stood on business. The first thing I had to do after talking to my best friend Shannon, was to get more evidence. I trust Shannon will make Calvin regret ever cheating on me. She had the best legal team behind her firm. And though I didn't like that she didn't want me to leave any of my assets to Calvin when I first hired her, I was glad I listened to her advice and my head lawyer, Amanda. "Since you have countless proofs of his infidelities, we will make sure he is forced to give you fifty percent of the marital belongings, including the house, half of the cars, private properties overseas, and villas, along with monthly alimony." "I don't care for any of those. Just make sure to draft it before tomorrow afternoon. I want him to sign the divorce papers before the end of the night." I said as I looked out the window of the room, sipping on my espresso. "Very well, Miss Vargas. I will work on it right now, and be back as soon as possible. Please make yourself at home." My phone buzzed, making me come out of my train of thought. "Hello," I said as an unknown number showed on my screen. "Eli, baby, where are you? It's late, my parents and everyone are waiting for us. The party has already started. I told you to wait for me at the office." Calvin says, with faint worriedness. The receptionist had obviously not cared to mention my arrival to him, making him think I was not in his office waiting for the past twenty minutes. "About that... I don't feel so good. Best you go without me. Do tell everyone I apologize, but I have a mean migraine, so I came back home to rest." I lie, clenching my jaw as I hear him huff in frustration. "Eli, it's just a headache. I told you this was an important event. My sister loves you so much, how can you not go meet her new baby?" he says, making my blood boil as I hear the two girls giggling in the back as they leave the reception. "I'm sorry, but I really do feel bad. I can't even stand the light right now. It's... It's really bad. I can always go by and visit her tomorrow, please tell them I'm sorry. I'll make it up some other time." I say, rolling my eyes and fighting the urge to vomit from disgust. "If your wife doesn't want to go, I can always be your date, Mr. Franco." Kylie's voice comes a little too sweet. "Kylie... not now. Stop it," he says, trying to cover the speaker on his phone. A giggle follows, making my anger rise. "Honey, don't take it to heart. Kylie is still young, she doesn't know any better. She's... still learning." he says as he tries to control his breath. If I knew any better, and if the rumors of how filthy she was, she was probably on her knees now giving him a fucking blow job. I hear her faint moan, making me want to throw my phone out the window, run inside that office, and yank her hair out. But, I play it cool, dismissively. "No, it's ok. I think it's a good idea if Kylie goes in my place. Let her go and take my place. Im sure the family will live to meet another of your... supermodels" I say, making him pause. Because yes, he thought I didn't know. But this was not the first time he cheated, and I was done with his stupid games. I'm divorcing him, and there's not a damn thing he can do now to make me change my mind. "Are you... Sure?" he asks, his voice caught, trying to control his breathing. "Oh... I'm sure." I say as I walk closer to his office, thankful Kylie left the door ajar, and smile.Ellie's POVFive days.Five days. Calvin and his mistress have been traveling through Spain and Milan for what he called "business."I, on the other hand, was grateful to Kylie. She didn't disappoint, sending me videos, picture messages, and texts of her intimate moments with my soon-to-be ex-husband.I had more than enough evidence to ensure a quick divorce. As for my dealings with his company? I was holding off on that termination until he signed those papers.I sat in my living room, sipping my morning coffee with my friends Shannon and Aria, when someone knocked loudly on my front door, repeatedly knocking and ringing the doorbell.Aria chuckled as she kept sketching on her tablet for our upcoming clothing line."Gee, I wonder who that is?" she asked, her voice dripping with sarcasm."Eliana, open the damn door! Did you think I wouldn't find out where you've been? I've been gone on business for four days, and I come back to this? Divorce? Give me a break, Eliana! This is low even
Ellie's POVI took a long sigh as the realization hit me. I truly did it. I finally let Sarah know what Calvin had been doing behind my back for the past six months. But what hurt the most right now was finding that Mercedes had known all along. I supported that bitch, and gave her freedom to spend my money, and she paid me back with condescension, stabbing me in the back by being their subordinate. My phone rang, making me snap out of my tearful charade. I pressed the answer button, listening to the person on the other line without looking at who was calling."Eliana, dear, it's grandma. I talked to Sarah; I know everything." Calvin's grandmother says in her old, shaky voice. She sounded tired and pained."Grandma, I-" "Not another word, child. I'm meeting you now; tell me where you are. We have a debt to take care of with you," she says, making me gulp in worry."Grandma, what do you mean?" "Give me your address; I'm on my way," she says firmly. I knew her health had been fra
EllieI am left angry, frustrated, and ready to yell. I can feel my body shaking; I am so angry that my tears fall down my cheeks, and I make a painful knot form in my throat. I sigh through the anger, closing my eyes and turning away. "Ellie, what is going on? You're not serious about this, are you? Divorce? I thought you and Calvin were doing so good. How can-" Sarah says, grabbing my hands softly and pulling me to sit next to her.My head lowers, unable to stop shedding tears. "I'm serious, Sarah. He's cheating on me. I know it." "What? How can you say that? Sweetheart, Calvin loves you. He would never!" Sarah adds, making me wail in her arms. "Oh, sweetheart. I'm sure this is all a misunderstanding. I know my son. He has a soft heart for people in need, you know that! But cheating? He would never do that to you," she says, rubbing my back in an effort to ease my cry. "No, I'm sure about it, Sarah. He's different; he's changed. He would never have taken someone else's side, n
Ellie's POVKylie looked between Calvin, his mom, and Mercedes, hoping for sympathy, but left empty-handed.Mercedes hated me, but she knew damn well I was right. She tried to keep this situation a secret from her brother, thinking she could leech off me because, in her eyes, Calvin never set an expense limit for me.All this, Mercedes thought, meant that every transaction was a notification being sent to Calvin’s phone with my name on it.She had to be some new kind of stupid to think Calvin wouldn't question a purchase of baby clothes, formula, and baby furniture.True, Calvin had set up a joint account for him and me, but what he failed to see was that I had never spent a dime of his money. And all the money his dear little sister, Mercedes, and her husband spent over the last two years was my personal spending money, earned by me alone. When Kylie realized Calvin wasn't going to choose her in front of his wife and mother publicly, she scrunched her nose in anger.Calvin had no opt
Eliana's POVI stood there, listening to Mercedes' complaint, her mom and brother looking at her with exhaustion, and her husband looking embarrassed at her pitiful whines. It was nothing new to any of us. The only one buying her dramatic charade, of course, was the other airhead in the room, Kylie.Meanwhile, movers continued to take boxes out, leaving through the back door as Eleanor signaled for them to stay out of sight as they took care of the kitchen and my room first. "You cannot be this insensitive, Eliana. I mean, she is your husband's sister. Why can't she spend her brother's money? There's nothing wrong with that." Kylie says, making me almost laugh."Exactly! Why do you always have to be so mean to me? You're nothing but a bully, Eliana. Don't you know I just had a baby? My hormones are still sensitive, and I am on the verge of getting postpartum depression because of this," she says, making me and her mom roll our eyes."Okay, enough. Mercedes, you-" Sarah adds, making
I smiled, standing on my feet, and hugged her tightly.I gave my girls a subtle signal, and they quickly understood, reading my cues and rushing to assist their maid by grabbing all the bags, unstrapping the baby's car seat, and carefully carrying the sleeping baby."Sarah, how are you?" I asked, giving her a tight hug. She chuckled, hugging me back tightly."Oh, sweetie. We missed you so much at the party last night. Calvin said you weren't feeling well, so I took the initiative to bring you a few supplements," she says as she takes a red box from her son-in-law's hand, brings it over with a smile, then takes my hand and sits me next to her on the sofa.'Open it," she says joyfully. She had brought a series of vitamin supplements and precious herbal remedies."I had these imported all the way from Oaxaca, Mexico, just for you. They are incredibly potent, so make sure you read the instructions carefully. Josie, be sure to prepare them for her every day, without a miss." She smiles at
Eliana's POVBrooks didn't say another word.He sat quietly in the car beside me, listening as I vented my anger. When I was finally done, exhausted, and feeling utterly drained, he gripped the steering wheel tightly, clenched his jaw, and let out a sigh."What do you plan on doing? I mean, do you
Eliana's POV So I let loose. For the first time in a very... very long time, I allowed myself to pàrty with my friends.I partied all night, taking a drink now and then. Not too much!Brooks wouldn't let me. He was acting like the protective big brother– as always!Either way, I. Let. Loose! For
First things first. After I recorded my dear husband getting a blow job from his side piece, I saved it, sent it to myself in an encrypted email, and then sent it to my lawyer, Shannon. It wasn't long before she called back, furious, and ready to leave the office, wanting to burn down his offic
Eliana's POVMy hands trembled as I gazed upon the picture on the phone. My husband, Calvin Franco, was exceptionally affectionate and fed a powdered sugar and blueberry pastry to the new model he hired in his company six months ago, Kylia Sinclair. It had been more than clear to me that she was h
