Chapter 32

“Oh my God, it’s Lisa!” voices rang across the streets as I walked to a nearby restaurant on my own. I am about to go and see my old friend, Jane, who is also a chef. She has excellent cooking skills and has been my close friend from the start. We stopped seeing each other when we were occupied by busy schedules, but we called and talked on the phone once in a while for a few minutes. I decided to go see her today. I enter the restaurant and can’t find her.

“Please where is Jane?” I asked Mark, one of her close associates and only companion. Most of the workers in the restaurant hate Jane, only Mark makes her feel better by telling her not to worry. Jane had complained about hating the place and she wanted to leave. The fact that customers commended Jane’s cooking skills made them hate her more.

“She left a month ago”, Mark said and I cut in.

“How could you let that happen?” I asked as I covered my face with my fingers. “She didn’t even tell me”.
