KATERINA

The distance from my apartment to the hospital felt like forever. On normal days when there's no emergency, it's a ten minute drive. However, it felt as if we had spent an eternity though it had been seven minutes. With Lucas lying on the stretcher with his eyes shut, bloodied clothes, his lips tightly clumped together and his body unmoving, the distance felt a stretch of a million kilometres, each second that passed by a silent whisper of death looming in the air…

“Please doctor, you need to save him. He has a daughter that needs him. He can't die. He needs to survive.”I cupped my hands as I pleaded for the doctor to save his life. It's not often that I plead for someone's life. However, this was different. We’re talking about the father of my little girl. The father of the triplets.

“We’ll try everything in our power to save him, ma’am. But for now, you can't enter the emergency room. We’ll update you about his condition shortly.” The male doctor whom I didn't care to know h

  • Dear Ex-Wife; Will You Marry Me, Again?   Chapter 082

KATERINA The pungent smell of medicines and disinfectants hit my guts, almost making me choke. I hated the smell because every time I breathed in, it reminded me of how life can be fragile sometimes. It also reminded me of how many people that I have lost in the past years. And the people that I nearly lost.Sitting on the chair beside the hospital bed, I stared at Lucas who seemed to be in his own world. Unpredictable world where life is a gamble. He could lose it or…win. Uncertain.Oxygen pipes were in his nose, and the beeping of the monitor a constant reminder of the harsh reality. The doctor finished operating on him not long ago. It took two solid hours to retrieve the bullet from his chest and ribs. The doctor told us that the reason why the surgery was a little slow was because they had to be careful. The chest bullet missed his heart by an inch. It was close. Way too close. The ribs bullet fractured his ribs and scratched his left kidney, another risk to be worried about.

Chapter 082KATERINA I couldn't tell how much time had passed. However, I could tell that it had been a couple of minutes or…maybe an hour.I was standing outside the emergency room, waiting for the doctors to pop out of the room so that they could update us about Luca’s condition but…none of the doctors had come out so far.“What about you go take a rest as I wait for the update from the doctor? You have been standing here for a couple of minutes now. Your feets will hurt from standing for too long.” Andrew said in a worried voice. I turned my head to look for him, “I’m fine. I’ll wait here for the doctor's update.” I said, the corner of my lips curving into a small smile.Andrew was right, I needed to get some rest. My feets were already sore from standing way too long. However,I didn't want to walk even one centimetre away. I wanted to remain standing at the same spot as I waited for the report from the doctors. I know damn well that even if I go to the waiting room to rest my fe

KATERINA TWO WEEKS LATER “Be good kids, three of you okay? Do give grandma a hard time.Goodnight.Mommy loves you so much.” I told the triplets. Just like every single day, I facetime Paula so that I could talk to the triplets before they go to sleep. It had become a routine. A routine that was so hard to skip.“We love you too, mommy. Goodnight.” They said in unison as though it was a martyr. Their cute little voices were like music to my ear that I wanted to listen to forever. It soothed my soul and reminded me of the reason why I have to be strong no matter how hard things get sometimes.Arabella had a big smile on her face and her blue eyes sparkled, full of life. The boys looked happy too and so was I. It felt so damn good to talk to them, especially at times like this when I was going through some struggles.Camilla, who is their nanny, took them to their rooms when we were done talking so that they can have some rest and now Paula was incharge of the phone.“How is everything

AUTHOR'S POVIt was a little bit silent on the other side of the phone, “Are you sure about it?” The voice on the other side of the phone asked doubtfully.“So sure. Would you like me to send the pictures so that you can confirm them?” He asked with an arched eyebrow.“Yes, send them to me.” Stephanie, who was standing at the balcony of her penthouse with a glass of red wine in her hand as she watched the sunset said, the corner of her lips curving into a smile.Ding! Her phone beamed with notifications shortly after she hung up the call. She tapped on the photo notifications and it directed her straight to the gallery. “Anna Salvador, died on 7th march.” The tombstone read. The grave's soil was still fresh, screaming of a lost soul. “I’m sorry nanny. It didn't have to come to this. All you had to do was to disappear to the depths of this world where no one would ever find you. I’m not a bad person. The problem is…I get a little bit agitated when someone doesn't listen to me.” Steph

  • Dear Ex-Wife; Will You Marry Me, Again?   Chapter 0078

AUTHOR'S POVTWO DAYS LATER The cloud was gloomy as the rain poured heavily, thunder rattling in the cloud, loud enough to awaken the dead. However, it seemed as though the people who were at the cemetery didn't care that much about the weather. They stood in the rain as it washed over them, washing away the tears that streamed down their cheeks. The people at the cemetery were none other than Katerina, David, the lawyer, a priest and nanny’s neighbour.“Nannnnnny….” Katerina cried out in pain, tears streaming down her cheeks as she watched the coffin being lowered six feets underground. She was soaking wet from the heavy rain. David tried to hand her the umbrella so that she could shelter but she refused, pushing it away. Her brown hair was a tangled mess and damp, clinging over her face. The black long dress that she was wearing clung onto her as though it was a second skin. And the heels were full of mud, her feets white from being soaked in the rain for way too long.“Please ta
