Mag-log inEvelyn POV I was standing in the middle of an old warehouse, the air thick with dust and the smell of rust. Damien was in front of me, holding a gun, his face covered in sweat and determination. “Damien, please!” I screamed, reaching out for him. “Don’t do this! Let’s just go home. We can find another way!” He turned to me, his eyes soft for a moment. “I have to, Evie. For Aveillie. For us. I need to end this.” Suddenly, shadows moved around us. Allen stepped out from behind a pillar, smirking. Before I could warn him, a gunshot rang out. Damien’s body jerked violently as the bullet hit his chest. “No!” I screamed, running toward him. “Damien!” He stumbled, blood spreading across his shirt. His eyes met mine, wide with shock and pain. He tried to speak but only blood came out of his mouth. “Evie… I love… you…” he whispered, collaps
Damien POV It was finally dawn. The first light was just breaking through the sky as I made my way upstairs. My heart felt heavy, but I knew we had to move now. I entered Evelyn’s room quietly. She was still fast asleep, probably from the sleeping pills the doctor gave her. I sat beside her on the bed and took her hand gently. “Evie,” I whispered softly, kissing her knuckles. “I have gone to bring back our baby. Wish me luck, my love. I’m going to get Aveillie and come home to you. Please hold on for me. I can’t lose you or her. I love you so much, Evie. Fight for us, okay?” I leaned down and kissed her forehead, then her lips, lingering there for a few seconds. Downstairs, the team was waiting. Sophia was standing close to Julian, holding his arm. “Come back safe,” Sophia said, her voice full of worry. “All of you. Please come back safe."
Charles POV"I’ll lead the perimeter cover where she’s supposed to lead. Ayla isn’t going. She’s staying behind. I can’t bear to lose her — not after everything. I won’t risk it," I said, my voice firm, laced with a desperation I no longer tried to hide.Julian and Damien looked at each other, clearly surprised by the raw emotion pouring out of me. The tension in the room thickened, almost suffocating. No one had ever seen me like this before, not over a woman.Ayla turned to me sharply, her eyes flashing with frustration. "Charles, this is my fight too—""Ayla, please," I cut in, stepping closer until I could see the unshed tears glistening in her eyes. "I understand you’re trying to get closure. You’re trying so hard to numb the pain Allen caused you. I see it every time I look at you. But this is dangerous. I’m not doubting your capability — you’re one of the strongest people I know. But I can’t help worrying. Let me do the dirty work f
Damien POVThroughout my ride home, Leo’s words kept echoing in my head like a curse I couldn’t shake. Maybe he was right. Maybe I truly am a walking danger. Everyone around me ended up hurt — Evelyn is still lying on the bed, our precious daughter Aveillie taken. What if my presence was the real poison in their lives? I gripped the steering wheel tighter, knuckles turning white, and pushed the dark thoughts down as best as I could. I couldn’t afford to break now. Not when my little girl needed me more than ever.I drove through the gates and stepped inside the house, tension coiled tightly in every muscle. Julian was already seated at the large dining table that had been turned into a command center, eyes glued to his laptop screen. "Damien, I found the maps of every warehouse district within two hundred kilometers," he said without looking up, his fingers flying across the keys with urgency.I nodded, too drained and heavy-hearted for
Ayla POV"So, you’re playing the tough girl, huh?" Ivana said, raising an eyebrow as she watched me swirl the dark liquid in my glass. The condensation trickled down my fingers, cold against my warm skin."No, Ivana, you’re not getting it," I whispered, my voice barely holding together. "I can’t have fun with Charles unless I’m drunk. Only then can I console myself that when I wake up, it’ll all feel like a dream." The alcohol was already blurring the edges of my pain, softening the sharp memories of Allen that had haunted me for weeks.Ivana sighed dramatically and flopped onto the sofa beside me. "You really can’t move on from this Allen guy, can you? Even Charles isn’t enough to help.""But I don’t want to use him like that," I trailed off, the guilt twisting inside me. "Still… I need a distraction, Ivana. I’m losing my sanity here." The words spilled out raw and desperate. I felt myself fraying, my composure cracking under the weight o
Damien POVI left home and headed to the old dockyard. Sector 7. Alone. I just wanted to take any risk as long as I can get my daughter Aveillie back, because it hurts seeing Evelyn lying lifeless on the bed. I just have to get my daughter back. The air smelled of rust and saltwater as I stepped inside the dimly lit warehouse. The heavy door closed after me with a loud metallic clang that echoed through the empty space. Footsteps sounded at my back.“You’re quite bold, coming here alone, you must be really desperate to save your child,” he said.I turned back to see Evelyn’s friend Leo standing there, half-hidden in the shadows.“So, it is you?” I asked, my voice low and guarded.“Who were you expecting to see before?” He said and leaned against the wall.“I am sure you didn’t call me here to test how bold I am,” I said.“Yes, I called you here because I might know where Allen is staying,” he sa
Damien’s POVI woke up with a deep smile still resting on my face, my arms wrapped around the soft warmth beside me. For a few seconds I stayed like that, half lost in sleep, enjoying the quiet comfort of the morning. The early sunlight was slipping through the curtains, the soft glow spreading acr
Evelyn’s POVHis mouth crashed back onto mine. This kiss was hungrier than the last. Tongues tangled immediately, no preamble, no teasing. Just raw need. I tasted myself on his lips from where he had licked and sucked at my skin earlier, and the thought made heat flood my core all over again. He ki
(Damien’s POV)“Finally, you’ve lost it. I’m serious this time — I need to book you into a psychiatric ward, because I cannot keep calling myself friends with a lunatic. There’s no other explanation for this level of strategic suicide.”Charles’ voice came at me before the door had even closed. He
Evelyn povI dressed up for work and took one of Damien’s cars, the one with mirror tint. I was meeting Sophia at a café near the estate. She was already waiting when I walked in. We hugged tight.“Look at you,” she teased. “Rolling up in Damien’s car like a mafia wife. Should I start calling you M
