Kaylee

I stared at my reflection in the mirror.

The dim lighting of my condo bathroom cast soft golden streaks on the marble floor, but even that warmth couldn’t soften what I saw in the mirror. My face—raw, angry, ruined—was a stranger’s. I clutched the edge of the sink, knuckles white, breath shallow.

It's been weeks now, and I still haven’t stepped outside. My once-glamorous condo felt like a damn prison, and I was stuck in solitary. I felt lost, and that little wretch–Olivia–kept saying, “It’s not that bad,” like that pathetic lie would change a damn thing.

My face looked fucking burnt. Like someone lit a match and smiled while I screamed. How did this happen? I kept asking, day in, day out. But silence was the only answer.

This was sabotage—had to be. But who’d be bold enough to come for me? No one on my makeup team would dare. They knew better.

That night kept replaying like a sick joke I couldn’t escape. The only person who wasn’t supposed to be there... was Olivia.

PhilipThis wasn’t possible! I must be stuck in a nightmare because I pulled down each and every crate like a madman, and each of them broke, shattering into sand! SAND?!The cold air in the warehouse suddenly felt suffocating, like it was closing in on me. My hands trembled, coated with dust, as disbelief tightened around my chest like a vice. This wasn’t happening. Not again!I fell to the ground, right on the pile of fake Rhodium. The grainy texture scratched against my palms as I leaned forward, breath ragged. The taste of failure—bitter and heavy—choked me from the inside out.I wasn’t sure how this had happened. I had planned out everything. My chest ached. My head spun and the urge to kill was tightening my throat. The silence was so loud it screamed.Kaylee stood there, face frozen in shock, and stared at me without saying a word.No one knew about this. It was only between me, my uncle, and…Kaylee. So how did we get played? Were the Davenports bringing in fake Rhodium? No, th

  • Dear Husband, My Turn To Love You    Chapter 42

PhilipThe evening air was cold.A biting wind whipped through the open lot, slicing past my coat like it had a vendetta. My hands stayed buried in my pockets, fingers curled tight from the chill—and the simmering irritation gnawing at my patience. It was almost dark now and I’d been standing here for about an hour. My feet ached, my neck was stiff, and I was this close to losing it.What the hell was taking Kaylee so long? She was supposed to be here by now. I glanced down at the sleek watch strapped to my wrist, jaw clenched tight. If my calculations were correct, my Rhodium would be arriving in town in an hour.Tick-fucking-tock.Finally—after what felt like an entire goddamn century—Kaylee’s car rolled into view. The soft growl of the engine reached my ears before the headlights cut through the dusk. She pulled up and parked right in front of me, then rolled her window down.“What took you so long?” I asked, voice sharp.“Traffic,” she yawned like she hadn’t just nearly given me a

Sebastian"You won't get it, Tony. Just leave it be, okay?""Get what, Sebastian? You just keep going on and on, confusing me even more. Make me understand at least," Tony said, running a frustrated hand through his hair. The car was quiet, outside, the wind licked at the open windows with wet fingers, carrying the sharp scent of oncoming rain and the low hum of an approaching storm. The interior was dim, lit only by the occasional sweep of passing headlights. Tony was my best friend, yeah—but in that moment, I wondered if I could really trust him with this, I wouldn't want him encountering trouble because of Julian Kings."Look, man. I know I'm not part of the Echelon Society, but my dad is—and I know everything that needs to be known about them. Are you in any kind of trouble with them after what your dad did?" He looked at me, worry written all over his face. With a sigh, I loosened my tie, the fabric suddenly feeling like a noose. Just hearing their name made my skin crawl. Those

OliviaWhat the hell was Kaylee doing here so early? She wants us to hang out, and she didn’t even call—sneaking into my room while I was asleep? Since when?I blinked hard, still groggy, the dull light spilling through my curtains casting long shadows across the room. My brain wasn’t fully awake, but my gut screamed danger. Something wasn’t right, but I kept my grin plastered on like a mask as I studied her overly excited face.“Okay, so what do you have in mind for us to do?” I asked, still smiling. Since she wanted a girls’ hangout so badly, I’d give it to her.“Nothing much. I thought maybe we could just hang out here,” she said.“In my house?” I asked, needing to hear it again—because none of this was passing the vibe check.“Yes.” She nodded, bright-eyed like a damn cartoon. My mind spun, eyes darting to her like she was a puzzle with bloody pieces. She definitely had a reason for being here. No way this was just a casual pop-in. I could practically hear the wheels spinning in h

KayleeLight streamed in through the window, but I didn’t remember taking the curtains up. The soft golden beams filtered across the room and i sat up, using the blanket to cover my chest, my skin still tingling with the ghost of Philip’s touch. My legs ached from last night, but the memory… it was amazing. Philip knew exactly how to handle a woman—he touched all the right places and made me forget my worries.I looked to the side of the bed, but he wasn’t there. Still, I saw his clothes on the ground, so it meant he was still around. The sight sent a quiet thrill down my spine. Good. I wasn’t ready for him to disappear—not yet.I rested my back on the headboard, eyes closed, as I relived last night. Every detail was still imprinted on my body like a sinful tattoo.“Good morning,” a sweet yet cocky voice greeted.I leaned forward with a smile, but my words hung in the air. The upper part of his body was bare, and the sunlight hitting it made him look glorious. His waist bone was vivid
