Smoke still curled into the night sky where Hale’s command center had burned to the ground. The city’s underbelly felt the tremors of that explosion far beyond the physical destruction. Dominic and his team had struck a significant blow, but the repercussions were already unfolding—some expected, others surprising.

They returned to their safehouse exhausted but alert. The adrenaline of the mission had faded, replaced by an uneasy tension. They knew Hale wouldn’t respond with weakness. Instead, he would retaliate with a fury that could tear everything apart.

Sienna was the first to speak. “Hale’s empire is fracturing—some of his lieutenants are questioning his leadership. Our strike has shaken his hold.”

Evelyn nodded, scrolling through her encrypted messages. “I’m receiving chatter about internal conflicts. If we play this right, we might turn his own men against him.”

Dominic rubbed his temples. “That could be our chance to dismantle Nexus from within.”

“Your failure at the compound has weakened us,” Hale said, voice cold and sharp. “But there is still power here. We’ll crush those rebels—and restore order.”

Marcus glanced at Olivia. “Sir, some of the men are wavering. They see the city turning against us.”

Hale’s eyes narrowed. “Then we make examples. Fear will bind them.”

Olivia’s voice was steady but carried an edge of warning. “There’s talk of defectors. We risk losing the entire network if we don’t act carefully.”

Hale slammed his fist on the desk. “I won’t tolerate weakness. Find the traitors. End this rebellion.”

The team organized a covert operation targeting the shipments.
