Interlude: Chapter 9

Amy

As Saturday loomed closer, Amy was starting to become more anxious. She did not like any of the dresses in her walk-in, so she decided to go shopping alone for the first time since she moved to New York. Being nervous, she called Lizabeta for advice.

“Amaranthe! How delightful to hear from you, love. I am sorry for my absence; I have been busy organizing the Black and White ball and snowed-in with work. How have you been?” her mother-in-law gushes and Amy immediately smiled. “I have been well, Mama. I’m actually calling for some guidance.” She answers honestly. She was not certain where to go shopping or what to get. Being Dimitri’s wife now, she knew she needed to look and act a certain way. “Hmm? Is my son not treating you well? Must I have a word with him?” She asks, a playful edge to her voice that caused Amy to chuckle loudly.

“No, mama! Dimitri is good to me, I can assure you,&rdquo
