Chapter Six

Kaleb was about to sleep when he heard the voice of the man he was trying to reach out to.

'I'm okay and will come back later. I promise'

He jolted up and try to talk to him, but the link was blocked already. He flopped back down. 'At least you're okay. I miss you, baby. I'm sorry.' He still linked him. But little did he know that Kian heard him. Their link is just concealed to his part. That's why Kian can still hear their thoughts. Kaleb went to sleep hoping to see his mate tomorrow at the meeting.

Meeting day

----------------

The Midnight pack arrived at Council Ryce's house. The maid led them to where the others are. When they entered the room, the Knights greeted them and they greeted back.

"Where's Vance?" Jax asked when he didn't see Vance. "He's with uncle- oh they're here," Myron said seeing his mate and his in-laws. Kaleb and his pack politely greet the elders.

"Have a seat. I'm sure you know us already, am I right?" Marius said and they nodded.

"Good, so, first thing fi- wait. Vanvan, where's Kian?" he turned to Vance and the pack was confused by the nickname. "We don't know dad. He didn't return last night after disappearing." Vance answered his dad's question while glaring at Kaleb.

'Vancen, stop glaring." Tristan told his son. Vance obeyed his papa. "Wait, he's your son?" Theo asked and Tristan nodded.

"Okay, let's start. So, the café incident confirmed that the rogues are working with mages. Since the main target of the rogues is the foundation of the Were which is the royals. If the leader falls, it will be easier for them to take over." The younger ones are listening carefully to council Ryce.

.....Also, because pure wolfsbane can't harm the royals, they are mixing black potion to it. A potion that can do fatal damages to the royals. to anyone, actually." Marius said.

"We really need to find them," Jax said. "Finding them is our best option?" Myron asked

"Yes and also, Alpha Kaleb, you need to get ready your pack for a war just in case." The council told him.

"Our pack warriors are training hard already in case this ends to war. But my father wanted to solve this without war if possible, to prevent bloodshed." Kaleb answered.

"Yes, we don't want that too. That's why we need to move fast. Calvin already gave the go signal to fasten this mission. Also, he said that he forgot to tell you something last night-

"Uncle Calvin's with you last night!?" Vance exclaimed cutting his dad's words.

"I'm talking here.. *Vance muttered an apology* ...as I was saying, he forgot to tell you that he approved about all of you staying in one house. Since you are a team now and it will be easier." Marius finished. "But we still need to keep our identity a secret." Vance butted in again.

"That's true. That's why you will stay there as a family of his mate. It's okay to let them know that you are a mage. But just a simple one." Tristan said.

They nodded. Kaleb heaved a deep sigh. His pack knew the reason for his gloominess but the Knights can only tell that something happened. Their leader is MIA.

"Whatever happened to you and Kian, know that he'll come back. Just give him time." Marius assured him and he returned it with a smile.

"Excuse me, uncle," Sean said raising his hand. "Yes?" Marius replied. "I was wondering, are we the ones who will locate the enemies? Since the pack are at risk because of their enhanced weapon?" he asked.

"No! We will not let you handle this alone. This is our battle in the first place. We will still do our part to find them."  Kaleb answered before the council can say something. "But it will be dangerous to your kind."  Vance countered.

"Yes, but to yours also. That potion can affect mages too. Besides, we are a team now. No, more like a family. We will find them and take them down together. We just need to be prepared." Kaleb reasoned out.

"He's right!"

They all turned to where the voice came. Their eyes widened and, "Kian!" The Knights yelled at the same time. "Baby' Kaleb said almost inaudible. His eyes are getting teary. His pack is looking at him with mixed feelings of relief, worry, and happiness that finally their Luna is back. They bombarded Kian with questions about where he went.

"Ugh! Enough!" Kian finally freed himself to his koala friends. "I'll tell you later. There is something more important that I need to tell you," he said with all seriousness and they all keep quiet. Taking a deep breath...

"The poison is not the only problem," Kian said making them frown. Kian starts telling them what happened.

//flashback//

Kian is still in the home of the deities and mythical creatures when he felt something odd. He felt the uneasiness, fear, and many unpleasant emotions of the man who threw the canister at the café. He bid goodbye and went to where the man is. He keeps himself hidden. He saw how the man pleaded for his life to be spared.

"P-please don't kill me. I did what you wanted me to. Please.." the man begged. "Yes, you did. But you failed! You have given a simple task but you failed." the other man spat back.

"But I didn't know that they are mages there that can block the poison.  Please... Just give me another chance, please don't kill me." the henchman continues begging. "Hm, let me think. Do you have any idea what's their relationship with those mages?" the man asked.

"I'm not sure but when I was surveying the café before the attack, I saw them in a heated confrontation when the future alpha king entered the café." the man answered. The other man asked why and the henchman think for a moment and he then remembered what happened.

"So, you are saying that one of the mages is the future king's mate?" The man asked scratching his chin.

Then a wicked smile slowly creeping on his face. "The prince's mate, how does he look like?" he asked again.

"He's about the same height as the prince. Tanned skin and good looking. Beautiful for a man." the henchman answered dreamily. Kian who is listening smirked.

"Now that we found the future king's weakness, it will be easier. Besides, we also have something for the mages. Let's see if they can use their power once the serum invades their bloodstream." the man said smirking.

'Serum?' Kian frowned. The henchman asked the same question.

"The serum that can block their mana. They can't use their powers without mana."

Kian left the place after that. He put a tracker on the other man because he knows that the poor man will be killed. And he's right. Not long after, he felt it.

//flashback ends//

They remained quiet after Kian finished telling them what happened. Kaleb is the one who broke the silence.

"So, this is not just rogues overtaking the weres but also the mages," he stated and Kian nodded.

"Yes. Whoever behind this serum, he wanted to control the mages too." Kian said.

"So, they are still at, it," Marius muttered but they still heard it.

"But the org. is long gone and there's no data left about the project,"  Tristan said

"Wait, you said he?" Marius asked Kian.

"Yes, uncle. I can tell that Paris is not the main brain here. She is just a pawn too. And I have a hunch that the man behind this has enough knowledge and resources to continue this project. Maybe he is a hidden member of the org." Kian shared his theory.

"It means that there is a traitor in the higher-ups?" Neo asked.

"Yes, and I think, I know who," Kian answered.

"Wait, if it's in the higher-ups, then how are we going to push through this mission? I mean, they knew this mission, right?" Dom asked. Naturally, all the members of the council knew.

"No. The only councils that knew about our existence and this mission aside from my and Vance's parents that are here with us are Myron's parents." Kian answered.

"The head council's inner circle," Sean added.

"Wait, Myron is also?" Jax paused "...is he and Vance are also like a demigod?" he continued. His pack members shook their heads at his bewildered face. The Knights frowned and the elders just chuckled.

"Demigod? What demigod?" Sean asked and Jax thought that he's just playing innocent. But he saw that he is really confused as well.

"Me" Kian said to end their confusion. They finally get what he meant.

"Oh! No. He's the only special one." Sean answered.

"And I would appreciate it if you stop calling me that," Kian told Jax.

"Wait, let's get back to our main agenda," Marius called their attention back. "Have you told Calvin about this?" he asked him.

"Yes, uncle. Dada knew already. And like me, we have the same theory. So, he said that everything that you learned today in this room must stay here that's why I sealed it already. And also, *turning to Kaleb* "Dada will talk to your parents. And we have a change of plan" he smiled a little.

"Okay, so what's the plan now?" Kaleb asked his mate. Kian smirked and told them the plan.

After the meeting, they went back home to pack their things. They are going to shift tomorrow. Kaleb wanted to talk to Kian but the latter told him they will but after they settled at the packhouse. He agreed. But Kian is not that cruel. He made sure to let his mate know that they're okay. That made Kaleb relaxed a little bit.

Now, that they gained more info about the enemies, all they can do is wait patiently and keep alert. Hoping that they win this battle without too much bloodshed.
