Chapter Four

"WHAT?!" Calvin yelled

Shock is an understatement. Alexis reminded his hubby that Kian can read minds but, they always make sure that their minds are concealed. So, how? There are two possible answers. First, their son is that powerful even at that age. Second is, Kian met Kaleb. 

"So, did he found out through mind-reading? But why he didn't say anything about it earlier when he came? Also, I will see it in his mind if that's the case." Calvin voiced out.

"Maybe he forgot because he has more important things to say than that," Alexis said. "For ten years?" Calvin asked in disbelief. Alexis shrugged.

Calvin sighed, "Hm..as long as his power remained contained and is not mark yet." Calvin said trying to console himself but...

"He's marked already," Selene said.

Calvin was about to shout but, "What?!" Alexis beats him. "Since when? And how?" he added. The head councils are having a headache. 

"Sit down and listen," Kaios told them and they followed. "Okay so first, yes, he knew through mind reading. It happened 10 years ago." Kaios started but, "He knew since then? And you didn't tell us?" Alexis cut Kaios' sentence.

"Baby prince, I said listen. You can ask after I finish, okay?" Alexis nodded. So, the deity continues...

...Okay, as I was saying, it happened 10 years ago. It was that day when he, Vance, and Myron got kidnapped and you were all on an important mission. His will to save them broke the seal, remember?" Kaios asked and they nodded.

"But we sealed it again and even intensified it. Also, that knowledge is sealed as well." Calvin stated.

"Yes, you did but, it didn't last long and it broke again. But at that time, Kian broke it himself." Selene answered. The couple was shocked at the new information they just learned. Alexis asked how it was possible.

"As he grows up, his powers grew as well and will continue growing. Since it was broken before, he easily broke the second one. He did it because he finally embraced his uniqueness. He embraced his true powers and learned to control them. Although, sometimes he loses control. And also because he acknowledged us. He finally acknowledged that he is a part deity." Selene explained.

"He knew when he tried to look beyond what your mind is showing him. You two can read minds and use telepathy but Kian can look way beyond the past. His power is the same as mine and maybe more." Kaios added.

"And we didn't notice it." Calvin rubbed his face in frustration. The deities told them that it's because Kian concealed it with his powers. And the seal they made? It was Kian's doing making them think it's theirs.

"What about his mate? Did he also know since then?" Alexis asked.

"No. His mate knew that they're mates the moment they met and that he is strong but not the real deal. Kian also told him he's your son since he needed to tell his mate his real name for the mating process. And yeah, some mana was shared as Kian marked him too." Selene explained. 

"I guess Thorin needs to tell them about the prophecy," Alexis said and Calvin agreed since Kaleb already met his mate.

"But wait, if my son was marked, how come-

"That, we don't have an answer. Only Kian can." Kaios cut Alexis and the couple didn't believe it but they decided to let it slide for now.

"Either way, that future alpha king must protect my son or else," Calvin said seriously and sternly.

At the pack mansion...

Kaleb and his pack are having a meeting with the king and queen. "I heard what happened earlier at the café. I'm glad that no one got hurt." King Thorin said looking at them.

"That's true, Alpha King. We are lucky that we were with the Shadow Knights. If it's not for them, we are probably dead by now." Jax said making the king and queen frowned.

"You met them and you chose a café to be your meeting place?" Kaleb and his pack can feel that the king is not pleased. So, before it leads more to misunderstand, he starts explaining.

"That's not it, father. That café is owned by them. We went there just to get to know them. And then the incident happened. We did talk about the plans, but no one else was there and the place is sealed." He explained. The king didn't know that the café is owned by the Shadow Knights.

His father turned at his Papa Aryn and smirked before facing him again. He groaned internally knowing what's about to come.

"What about the other incident? I knew about the café attack, well except for the fact that they own it but, this one incident is what I'm more curious about. Right hun?" Thorin said. He gulped and his pack finally realized what the king is talking about.

They're chuckling on their seats. "What now, baby wolf? Cat got your tongue?" His Papa Aryn teased him. His so-called friends are now laughing at him. He glared at them making them shut up. 

"Uhm, ye-yes. I. I f-found my mate." he stuttered and jolted when his papa squealed.

"Oh! My baby wolf finally met his other half. Tell me, is he cute?" Queen Aryn asked excitedly.

"How did you know my mate is a he?" he asked his papa in confusion.

"Duh? Of course, we knew. You are our son. We knew that you are going to have a male omega just like me. We knew since you were two." King Thorin answered with a bored tone. That statement made them confused.

They told him that Kaleb's mate is an alpha but the thing they wanted to know is how they knew that their son is going to have a male mate? And Dominic can't help and ask for it.

Theo remembered something before Thorin can answer. "Are you talking about the prophecy, your highness?" he asked.

 "You knew about that, huh?" the king said. Theo told him that he just heard it from his parents.

"What prophecy?" asked Kaleb. Sighing, Thorin asked them to listen carefully and not to disclose whatever they will learn.

"Yes, it's about the long-forgotten prophecy. Two years after your birth Kaleb, Leluna visited your papa in his dream and told him about it. 'A great gift that will come. A gift that everyone will want. Possessing a great power that everyone will wish to have. Many will attempt to have the gift for their own greed'...only our close friends knew about it and decided to keep it as a secret." Thorin told them.

"And it has something to do with me?" he asked his father.

 "Yes, because you are a part of it. Because whoever possessed that gift will be powerful as the 'gift' itself. You still don't get it? Can't you see through our minds?' King Thorin said and Kaleb shake his head 'no'. But he has an idea.

"Hun, you don't remember? Our knowledge about it is sealed remember?" Queen Aryn reminded his hubby.

"Oh, right." He then looks at Theo. "So vampy, how much do you know about it?" The king asked.

"Uhm, to be honest, nothing much. I just heard them talking about it. They just mention that what if the prophecy happens in our generation. I thought it was a myth. I just connected the dots." Theo answered.

"I see. Okay, so let me tell you more. Like I said, whoever possessed the gift will be powerful, why? Because whoever this person gonna be, this gift will do anything for him or her. And also, this person can be the gift's downfall." He said

"Wait Alpha King, if it was given, why no one knew about it? You said that this gift will do anything. So, it's not a thing. It's a person, am I right? Jax asked and Kaleb is just listening.

"Yes, it's not a thing but a person." The King confirmed.

"Then why nobody knew about it? No one noticed about the one to who the gift was given? And if it's a person, that person should conceive right?" Jax asked again

The King chuckled... "No one noticed because no one conceive." Their faces hold confusion. "This is how the rumor starts. He was not born like us. The deities used the DNA of their carriers and their blood. And with their powers, the gift was born."

"Wait, that makes him a demigod!" Theo exclaimed. Kaleb is feeling nervous suddenly.

"Oh, I remember, I read it somewhere. There are only two people that are known as the deity's carrier. These people are the head councils of the Mages." Theo added. Kaleb felt more nervous. His hunch is confirmed when Theo speaks again... "The Knights."

"But your highness, why is it connected to Alpha Kaleb?" Dom asked

Kaleb closed his eyes. Taking deep breaths to calm himself. When he opened his eyes, he saw his father smirking at him. His friends are confused.

"I believe you figured it out now," Thorin said.

"Figured what, your highness?" Dom asked again politely.

"The reason why it has something to do with him." It's the Queen who answered. They look at the young alpha, waiting for further explanation.

"So, son, tell us how this is connected to you. Can you tell us the name of your mate?" his son is having a hard time answering. His emotions are messy. He can't believe that his mate is not just strong but more.

"His mate is Kian Winter, Alpha. The leader of the shadow knights." Jax answered for him. "Is he?" The others got confused more. Kaleb is having a hard time breathing. He's about to say something but a distorted voice boomed inside the room.

"Kian Knight. That's his mate's name...

My name."

Before Kian appeared at the pack mansion:

"Is Kian not here yet?" Sean asked. They are all in the living room watching a movie. 

"Been here for two hours already," Kian answered walking towards them.

"Oh? Then why didn't you tell us?" Kian just shrugged at the question.

"So, did you tell uncle? What did he say?" Vance asked

"Yes, I told them about the attack. We know who the possible mage that is working with them and also, dada approved to fasten our plan." Kian told them everything that he learned about the enemies.

"So~ did you also tell them about your mate and your mark?" Myron asked teasingly. Kian blushed and his friends tease him more.

"Shut up all of you or else. We have important things to do than this. Tomorrow, we will go to your parents Vance before we go to the Blood Moon pack." Kian stated firmly.

The knights nodded in understanding. Kian has something more to say but he halts when he lowered his walls and opens his link with Kaleb at the same time. His eyebrows furrowed. He felt the uneasiness of his mate.

He waits a few more seconds to feel more, but Kaleb's feelings are getting more troubled. That's when he decided to just go where his mate is rather than to communicate first.

"Where did he go this time?" Sean asked when Kian suddenly disappeared.

A black smoke suddenly appeared inside the room. They can feel how strong it is. Then slowly, a solid black smoke is forming in front of where Kaleb is sitting. Then a distorted voice was heard.

"Kian Knight. That's his mate's name. My name."

The smoke slowly fades away. Kian appeared with his eyes that is pitch black with a purplish-blue like lightning swirling. This is how his eyes look if he is using his dark core solely. He turned to his mate and hold his face.

"Kaleb"

he called softly. He calmed the young alpha down with his power. Kaleb looks at him sadly. He knew exactly what's going on in his mind and it made him angrier. Because his mate is belittling himself as his mate. He turned to them and the aura that he's emitting is suffocating Kaleb's father.

"W-wait, K-Kian" Jax is trying to talk to him. His power is directed to Thorin only because in his eyes, he is the threat to his mate's wellness.

"You knew already who his mate is and you still do this to him," Kian said with his distorted voice. This is not the Kian that they met earlier. Kaleb snapped back when he felt how angry his mate is.

"Kian, baby. Calm down. I'm okay. Baby, please..."

he said trying to calm Kian.

Kian didn't stop. His anger is fogging his rational mind until, "Kian! Stop hurting my father!" Kaleb raised his voice. With that, Kian abruptly withdrew his power. Breathing deeply. It hits him hard. He almost killed Kaleb's father.

He looks apologetic to the king. Thorin just smiled and nodded. He knew that Kian did it because of his mate and out of control. This is the perfect example of what he said earlier that the gift will do anything for his owner.

"I'm sorry. I was just..." he felt guilty that he lost control. He turned to Kaleb sadly full of guilt before disappearing.

Kaleb was dumbfounded. He tried reaching him through telepathy but, Kian is not responding. Even what he's feelings are blocked. He sat back rubbing both his palms on his face harshly. His friends are still in shock. He tries again.

'Baby, talk to me, please. I'm sorry.'
