chapter 2 Poppy

i've been here for three days now and have started to relax, viola heard from sky that they had bound holly with magic and that i have approximately one week before she breaks their magic and escapes.

in the meantime i have taken it easy, resting and eating plenty, i don't look so thin anymore and even viola says that i have gotten more color on my cheeks.

I told Viola what happened when Holly caught up to me this time, four days ago and I told her about my mate that I was forced to reject and that wolf that seemed familiar even though I don't know how. 

She listened quietly when I told her and without a word she hugged me hard. All my feelings came crashing down and I broke down in a crying mess in my cousin's arms.

Right now i'm helping viola with her flowers and plants, all witches are bound to an element, viola is an earth witch just like her mom and our grandmother, my mom is an air witch, holly is bound to the fire element and sky is an metal elements and me, yeah i am neither.

I'm dysfunctional. The others can draw energy from their element and use it but I was never bound to any element so I don't have magic on my own. Instead I draw energy from other living creatures and let that energy meet my magical core and make some sort of magic.

even though i don't have green fingers it's rather nice, touching things that are alive. 

“ hey poppy, i'm coming in with a friend” i heard viola say from the outside.

I went to the door to say hello when I stopped and just stared at her so called friend. He was big, not fat but packed with muscles and had this predator aura around him. black hair, 5 o’clock shadow beard and piercing silver eyes that looked really familiar.

I sniffed in the air and his scent made my mouth water, liquorice and lemons. my mind was screaming “mate” but at the same time an image came forward with that of a black wolf with silver eyes.

“ Poppy, poppy, did you hear me?” viola asked and snapped her fingers at me. 

“huh”

“ I know he's your mate and he hasn't met Holly so I took him here so you two could meet each other. Poppy?”

I just stared at him, I didn't blink and I couldn't think straight so I did the only thing I could do. I started to laugh, hysterically laughing.

viola and my newfound mate looked at each other in confusion, they probably thought i lost the plot.

“ Poppy, are you alright? answer me please, you're scaring me”

I stopped laughing and just stared at her, shaking my head while chuckling softly.

“ Viola I love you so much but you can be really naive sometimes you know. He was right there that night, right by hollys side when she caught up to me, so I'm sorry but I will go away now, bye bye.”

I opened up a portal while I said that and was about to step through it when I heard an angry growl and turned just in time to see my new mate run for me and just by a millimeter catch me by my elbows and we get into the portal.

A portal works like a door of some sorts, when you open one up and step into it you need to think of the place you want to go, if the portal doesn't have a goal it will usually just spit you out where you came from but it could go very wrong also.

It could lead to another place or worst case rip you apart, so I was surprised when the portal opened up again and I landed on a very hard floor, lika that in a basement. cold, hard concrete floor, it even had that disgusting cold air smell. My mate landed upon me and my instinct told me to get him off so I raised my hands to use my magic but nothing happened, wtf?

“ Why do you always need to be so rash?” my mate asks in a deep voice that sends chills down my spine.

“ if you just let me explain it would have been easier and by the way you cant use your magic here”

I look at him with my eyebrows lifted and show a “duh” expression.

“ Where are we?” i ask him

“home” he answers, like that would answer all my questions. 

he gets up and reaches his hand towards me to help me up. “ come on, she can't get to you here, she doesn't even now that this place exists”

“ what how is that possible”

“just come and i .. i mean we will explain”

“Who are we?” I ask in confusion when I hear a lot of different voices upstairs.

He still has his hand reaching down to me but I get up on my own. I don't need anyone's help. I have survived on my own so far. He holds up his hands in front of himself before he walks toward a small staircase and opens a door which he holds up for me.

I walk past him through the door but stop dead in my tracks and want to go home but he pushes me inside a large room. the room itself looks like a ballroom but with four really long tables but what stops me are all the men that sits at the tables staring at me like i'm their exclusive prey.

“ hell no! i'm not going out there” i tell him and try to turn around and go down to the basement. 

“ Good thing you're not then” he chuckles in my ear as he catches me in his arms. tingles run up my arms from where he touched me and how much that i wanted to escape i actually felt safe in his arm, stupid mate bond.

“ Silas, you finally found her!” a man's voice sounded above my head and I tried to look up to find where that person was.

i finally see up for a flight of stairs on a platform leaning over the railings, he's ridiculously hot, light blue eyes, dark red hair, a bit of a beard and leaner muscles. he was shirtless and even though he had a scar on his chest i was almost drooling just by the sight of him. “mate”

damn, again? I have two mates now. What the hell is going on?

the man behind me chuckles, Silas was it, and i turned to look at him, about to question him on what was so funny when he leans over me and sniffs my hair and whispers

“ if i can smell your arousal, care to guess who else can”

I blush and feel my cheeks redden but I look away from him just to see that every man sitting down had either completely black eyes or red eyes, but everything told me they were hungry and not for food but lust.  

“Nobody moves!” a voice shouted and I even froze when I recognized it. oh no.

“aziel” I whispered and as I laid eyes on him walking towards me I remembered how much I had already hurt him, he must hate me. tears formed in my eyes and i was about to speak but he held up a hand when ha stopped in front of me and then he spoke instead.

“Poppy” he said my name with such darkness in his voice that it sucked out all the light from my heart.

“i reject your rejection”

i looked at him in confusion, she said he had accepted it, he cant take it back like that, can he? did she lie to me again, i have lost count to how many times she has lied but this time I really believed her. it even felt like the bond was broken.

He grabbed me by my shoulders and ripped my head to the side and sank his fangs into my neck, marking me. My last thought was that Aziel was human , how could he have fangs but I couldn't ask, all I could do was scream just before the darkness took me and I fainted.
