Lisa's POV

(Flashback: Four Months Earlier)

Andre had told me to dress comfortably, but what did that even mean when you don't know where you were heading to?

I went with a soft peach dress and a loose scarf that made me feel beautiful. Stanley dropped me off at a rooftop garden restaurant and nodded like he approved.

I wasn’t expecting what I saw.

Andre was already waiting.

He stood from the table when he saw me, in a navy shirt with the sleeves rolled up and a pair of black pants. It was the first time I noticed him smile a little.

"You came."

I smiled too, a bit nervously. "You said it was brunch. I wasn’t going to miss food."

A long white table stood in the center of the rooftop.

There was a linen and flowers on it. A spread of breakfast and lunch items was already arranged: waffles, strawberries, small sandwiches, sparkling drinks, even a tiny stack of pancakes with a candle stuck in the middle.

“You did all this?” I asked, not sure how else to start.

He gave me a nod.

Lisa's POV Present DayI zipped the suitcase slowly. The sound felt loud in the quiet room.It was raining outside. Heavy drops against the windows. But I didn’t careDiane’s little act had pushed me over the edge: the fall, the fake tears, the blame. And Andre…He chose to believe her.Not even a single question. I didn’t want to cry anymore. I didn’t even want to feel. I just wanted to leave.Andre was probably still with Diane, making sure she was "comfortable" after her little performance. I didn’t make a sound as I folded my clothes, tucked my sketchbooks between layers of fabric. My hands didn’t shake. That surprised me. I folded one last shirt and shoved it in the suitcase. I didn’t need much. Just enough to get away for a while. Maybe forever.I pulled the engagement ring from my finger. The metal felt colder than it ever had.I set it gently on the nightstand. He could have it back.He could have all of it back.A man who truly loved me wouldn’t treat me the way he was do

  • Did I Steal My Fiancé’s Ex Identity   Chapter 34

Lisa's POVPresent DaySaturday used to be our day.It used to be our time together. Since we started getting incredibly close, after we had made love for the first time, Andre always made sure he didn't work on Saturdays, so we could spend time together. We had similar preferences. We weren't the outdoorsy kind, so we liked staying at home.Andre and I would curl up on the couch, wrapped in blankets, watching whatever movie was on. His arm around me, my head on his chest. Just us. We'll be watching something funny on the TV, we barely paid attention to because we were always talking instead. But that was before Diane came. Now, I hardly saw him at all, so I went about my Saturdays alone. This Saturday was no different. I came down the stairs, hoping maybe today would be like before. Maybe today, he would remember me. These days, I come downstairs and the whole house feels like someone else moved in and took over everything I loved. I knew Andre would be getting ready for work

Andre POV(Present Day)The screaming woke me up.It was almost 3 a.m. I sat up, my heart pounding. It was Diane's voice.I threw the covers off and rushed to her room. Stanley was also standing by her door, still fully dressed in his butler uniform as though he hadn't slept.I threw the door open. She was crying. Another nightmare. She had been having constant nightmares these days, and it only kept getting worse. She was sitting on the bed, gasping, drenched in sweat. Her blanket had been thrown off, and she looked around like she wasn’t sure where she was.“Diane,” I said softly, stepping inside. Her head snapped toward me. She looked terrified.“It’s okay,” I said, walking slowly, like I was a frightened animal. “It’s just me. You’re safe.”I crossed the room and knelt beside her. Her hands were fists in her hair. Her breath came too fast. “Diane.” I kept my voice low. “You’re safe.”She covered her mouth with one hand, the other gripping her sheets tightly. She didn’t stop sh

LISA'S POV FLASHBACK (CONTINUATION)He pulled back just a little, his hand resting on my jaw.I looked at him. “You kissed me this time.”“I’ve been wanting to,” he said. There was no more talking after that.He kissed me again. I kissed him back. His hands slipped around my waist, and I let myself lean into him.I could feel the rhythmic thumping of his heartThen we sat still, facing each other on the basement couch.I wasn’t sure what I was doing. But I didn’t want to stop.I touched the hem of my shirt nervously. His hands covered mine, stopping me."Let me," he murmured.I nodded. His fingers were careful as they lifted my shirt over my head. His touch was light, like he was afraid I’d break. Like I was something precious.I shivered when his hands slid down my arms. His thumbs brushed over my collarbones."You’re beautiful," he said.I didn’t know how to answer, so I reached for him instead. My fingers fumbled with the buttons of his shirt. He let me take my time. When his ches

Lisa's POV (Flashback: The day after the movie date)I woke up remembering how that night had gone. I had covered Andre with the blanket, and I also remembered the way he had looked so peaceful in his sleep. I then went downstairs. He was already out.He hadn’t said anything that morning, but he left a note on the kitchen counter. “Thanks for the popcorn.” Just those words, simple, but they made my chest feel warm. But the night and the note changed something. He started texting me during the day. Just small things.“How’s your painting?”“Don’t forget lunch.”“Left early today. Will be home before dinner.”Nothing big, but it’s more than before. More than nothing. I tried not to read too much into it. I told myself not to hope. But my heart doesn’t listen. But still, I smiled every time his name popped up on my phone. That Friday, there was a storm. The sky was dark even though it was only afternoon. Then the heavy rain. Heavy rain pounded against the windows. By 8, the power

  • Did I Steal My Fiancé’s Ex Identity   Chapter 30

Lisa's POV (Flashback )Since we came back from the private resort, something had changed between us.It wasn't dramatic or loud. It's just, Andre wasn’t so distant anymore. He didn’t avoid me like I was something inconvenient. He didn’t lock himself in his study every day or keep our conversations limited to stiff greetings and short instructions. Now, I could knock on his door and he’d say, “Come in.”Sometimes, I didn’t even need to knock. He had started taking me out. Not grand dates or anything romantic, just simple outings. A bookstore, lunch, one time even a drive through the hills with music playing. He let me into his world, little by little. When he was at work, I filled my days with painting, journaling, reading, and of course, K-dramas. I wasn’t bored. I liked the calm life I was having. It was the kind of life I imagined people with peace had. And I tried to hold onto it.I stirred honey into my tea in the kitchen. Three weeks had passed since we returned from the priv
