Diane's POV

The silence in the house was becoming unbearable. It had changed since Andre found the folder missing. It was no longer just quiet. It was watchful. He was watching me. I could feel his eyes on me when he thought I wasn't looking. The suspicion was now a wall between us.

He asked fewer questions directly, but the silences between us stretched and thickened. I knew what that meant. He didn’t trust me.

Andre was many things, but subtle was not one of them. If I let him continue in suspicion, he would push me away. I couldn’t let that happen.

He had questions he would not ask out loud. He suspected me of something.

And that made him dangerous.

But Andre was weak too. I knew his weak points better than anyone. His pride. His guilt. His need to drown everything in alcohol.

That was why I waited for him that night.

He came back late. He smelled like whiskey before he even took off his coat. His hair was messy. His tie was undone. His steps were slow, heavy.

I stood at the foot o

Henry’s POVAndre wasn't picking up his phone. Again. He had dropped a bomb when he said he slept with Diane. I needed to know what was going on. I was on a trip, and I just returned, so we hadn't had time to meet yet. This was the third time I'd called today, and it was starting to piss me off. When a man drinks as much as he's been drinking, you check on him. It's basic friend code. He was not in his office or the bar he usually visits… so where was he?I called him again that evening, and he did not pick up. That was not like him. Even when he was busy, he usually sent a text. I leaned back in my car, staring at the road, and thought about what to do. Finally, I decided to just drive over to his house. If he wanted to ignore me at work, that was fine, but at home, he had no excuse.Just as I was turning onto his ridiculously long driveway, my phone rang. It was him.His name flashed on the screen.“Finally,” I muttered before answering."Where the hell have you been?" I answe

Lisa's PovThe text from Max came on a bright Saturday morning. ‘Going to the park. Want to come?’I stared at the phone. I had been hoping to hide in my room this weekend, surrounded by old newspaper of my mother and my sketches, even though being around them felt like I was suffocating. But I didn't care.Max invited me to join him for one of his outings at the park, but I knew it was more than that. Riley peeked over my shoulder. I didn't realise she had come into my room. “Ooh, a date! Say yes. I’m your chaperone.”“It’s not a date,” I said, but my finger hovered over the reply button.“It’s a date if I get free food out of it,” Riley declared, grabbing the phone and typing a reply before I could stop her. She yelled, “We’re in! And by we, I mean me too. I won't disturb you guys. I’ll blend in with the trees or something.”Riley was tagging along whether I wanted her to or not. I did not argue. A part of me was nervous, so having her there helped. We agreed to meet in about an

Andre’s POV Morning light came into the room, blinding my eyes, and it was not welcome. My head throbbed, not from the whiskey, but from the memory of what I had done.I should never have let Diane touch me.I sat on the edge of the couch-bed, my shirt was wrinkled, and my mouth dry. I felt a heavy weight in my chest. The room smelled of her perfume and the whiskey we had drunk. The space beside me was warm. Diane was still asleep.Last night was a blur. A mistake. A moment of weakness I could not afford. I had let her in, and all I could think about was Lisa. All of it, burned into me. Last night had not erased any of that. It had only made me feel worse.Diane shifted behind me, stretching like a cat. “Good morning,” she purred like a cat.I didn’t answer. She sat up, leaning against the back, watching me. “You regret it,” she said simply.I dragged a hand down my face. “I shouldn’t have…”“You did,” she cut in, smugly. “Your body remembered me.”I turned to look at her. “Don’t m

Diane’s POVIt was late, and Andre had locked himself in the study again, so I brought him food. He had been doing that a lot. He thought I didn't notice the way he watched me sometimes, a question in his eyes that he would not ask.At first, I thought it was just his usual work obsession, but then I saw it. Last night, he came home with a folder. He held it like it was something precious. That folder. He tried to hide it in the office. When I stepped inside his study with a tray, he did it again.I smiled as if I had not noticed, but I had. He shoved it into the drawer like a guilty man and locked it. He thought I was blind, but I had always been sharper than him.“Andre, you cannot live on whiskey alone,” I said gently, putting the soup down.“I am not hungry,” he muttered, not even looking at me.I sat on the couch and crossed my legs. “Come rest,” I told him. “Just for a minute.”He ignored me, drowning in his papers, but I was patient. I always had been.Hours later, when I kne

  • Did I Steal My Fiancé’s Ex Identity   Chapter 67

Andre’s POVTruthfully, I had not planned to stay this long. The first day, it was just a drive by. I wanted to know where she worked, what the place looked like. I told myself I would keep moving, that I would not stop. But the car slowed on its own, and before I knew it, I was parked across the gallery.Through the wide glass windows, I could see Lisa. She was painting, her head bent, hair tied loosely at the back. She looked focused and calm.My chest tightened.I came out of my car, pulled the hood of my jacket up, and got a little closer. I wasn't sure if I was cautious enough. That it was better this way, to watch without disturbing her.The next day I came back. And the day after that.It became a routine. After work ended, I found myself here, outside the gallery. Watching through the glass as Lisa painted. Sometimes she smiled at the lady Riley. Sometimes the other guy. Those moments made me want to tear the hood off and walk inside, tell them to back away, tell her that I
