LOGINCade and Yohan, Noah's cousins, were surprised to see him arrive with a Grab driver.
“Weren’t you supposed to be our designated driver?” Cade asked as Noah slid into the backseat.
“He resigned,” Yohan said with a chuckle. “Last time we went out, you threw up all over his Mustang.”
Noah resisted the urge to slap his own forehead. Why did he let these two drag him into going clubbing tonight? He could've just gone out on his own. Then again, he wasn't the type to go out alone either. He wasn't even the type to go out at night, period.
"Where's your brother?" he asked the two as the car pulled away from the curb.
Cade answered. "He didn't want to come."
"He's gone crazy again, backed out at the last minute," Yohan said.
"You probably teased him again," Noah said, eyeing Noah knowingly.
He knew Yohan was a notorious prankster and a relentless teaser. Damien, the brother of the two, on the other hand, was easily offended when he wasn't in the mood; he was probably the moodiest guy Noah knew. Damien and Yohan were now in charge of Alfonso Trucking Services, or ATS, owned by their family. Their father stepped down last year, and his own father recently retired. Theirs was the biggest trucking company in the whole country, and their services reached every corner of it.
"No, I didn't," Yohan denied. "He's just like someone who's on their monthly period sometimes; he gets moody." He suddenly saw something outside the car window. "Did you see that?" he exclaimed, as if in awe, pointing to the underpass they were passing.
"What?" Cade asked.
"I saw a CLM member! I think I know him; I'm just not sure."
"What's CLM?" Noah asked.
"C*ck lives matter," Yohan replied, which made Cade laugh. He even teased Noah before he got annoyed. "I'm not sure whose little c*ck that is, yours or Kuya Damien's. Is yours still attached to you? Kuya, on the other hand, wants his little pet to go on a s*x hunger strike. You guys are getting more members, huh?"
His cousins burst into laughter; even the driver was smiling at their conversation.
"You're such a jerk, Eugenio!" Noah snapped.
The three men eventually arrived at Vibe, an expensive club in Makati. They had been there for less than half an hour when Cade met a woman. Noah wasn't surprised because Cade was the flirt of the cousins. Soon, he was with the woman on the dance floor until they moved to a table away from him and Yohan.
"Hey, we've been here for an hour; you haven't met any women yet?" Noah commented to Yohan after a few minutes of him just fiddling with his smartphone. "Is your little pet planning to join CLM too? Well, Damien and I need a secretary," he teased.
"Hell, no!" he denied, not taking his eyes off his iPhone. "I just want to unwind tonight and have some booze. I'm not like Kuya Cade, who just goes to a club and picks up some girls." He glanced at him briefly. "Besides, why are you bothering me? When are you going to notice that woman who's been looking at you?"
Noah frowned. "Where?"
"Your three o'clock. Medium-length hair, red dress."
He discreetly followed the direction his cousin said and caught the woman he was referring to. The woman was probably around mid- to late twenties and beautiful and sexy too. She smiled at him when their eyes met.
"Hey, go talk to her," Yohan urged him.
He wasn't really the type to pick up women at bars; all the women he had dated were introduced or set up by his friends and relatives. But he wasn't looking for a date tonight.
Yeah, that's right. He went to the club hoping to find a woman for a one-night stand. He had given in to his body's demand for heat.
He didn't have time to look for a date and wait for them to have s*x. F*cking himself with his hands wasn't enough anymore. Besides, he didn't like what he was thinking about whenever he did that. He needed to stop the dirty thoughts he had about his executive assistant. And he thought it would be more helpful if he had a real s*xual partner. A woman he could f*ck and release all the heat that had been sizzling deep inside him.
And, why not? What he was going to do wasn't illegal. He wasn't going to force a woman or have s*x with a minor. This was better than another option he was considering: hiring a high-class pr*stitute. But then again, why not f*ck a h*oker if it all came down to it? It would just tarnish his image. But honestly, right now, his immaculate image was the least of his concerns.
"Do you need pick-up lines?" Yohan asked with a laugh.
"I can handle this, thank you," he said confidently, even though he actually wanted to scratch his head. He had never done this before!
Before Noah could stand up, he saw the woman stand up and walk towards the bar counter, as if she was guiding him there. He adjusted the collar of his maroon long-sleeved polo before approaching her.
They nearly said "hi" to each other at the same time, and then they both laughed afterwards. Noah immediately felt relaxed and offered the woman a drink. See? That's easy.
Yohan smirked in their direction as they talked to Lara. The woman was twenty-eight years old, an accountant for a US-based company that had outsourced some of its office staff to the Philippines.
And based on their information about each other, they both had the same goal tonight. According to Lara, after breaking up with her boyfriend, she wanted to try to find some fun without a relationship. She wanted to be bold and experimental in s*x. He was honest in telling her that this would be his first time having a one-night stand.
Until his smartphone buzzed. Yohan texted him.
Hey, I have to go. Cade's missing in action. Good luck with the hot babe! Don't forget to use protection. Raise the flag of the Alfonsos! Remember, #C*ckLivesMatter!
He invited Lara to leave the club.
Noah’s brother’s wedding was deeply emotional. At the church, the two of them were crying while waiting for Cassy at the altar. And during the pictorial, Noah didn’t expect that even the guests would get emotional. When he and Nate were being photographed with their father, they refused to take the picture without their half-brother Josiah. Josiah was in tears. And when it was time for the two families of the bride and groom to take a photo, Ara signaled him to fetch Yna from her seat. The woman cried happy tears as he walked her to the altar to stand beside their father. His heart overflowed with joy when he saw his mother smile at her.Even Cade, who was the photographer at the wedding, didn’t bother to hide how emotional he felt.“Do we really have to cry at weddings? Please don’t make this an Alfonso tradition,” he said, pretending to be annoyed as he wiped tears from his eyes.As the camera clicked several times, Noah looked at Ingrid, who was lovingly smiling at him with tearful
“Where’s your goon-looking boyfriend?” Cade asked while a makeup artist was getting him ready for the photo shoot.Ingrid would be wearing a two-piece black bikini and a white boyfriend-style long-sleeved shirt with the buttons undone. Cade had asked her if she wanted to be more daring. She said she was willing to remove the bikini top as long as the shirt covered her chest. It felt liberating, and she felt confident, sexy, and beautiful. She couldn’t wait for the actual photos.“He’s not my boyfriend,” Ingrid replied with a grimace.“Good. I was actually wondering about that. But why did he say he was?”She laughed softly. “It’s a long story, Sir Cade. But later, I’ll send you a video link.”It had only been an hour since Themarie posted the video with Eric on Facebook, and it was already getting a lot of views and shares. Her mom and Pat had called her earlier, shocked. They said they were keeping the news from Uncle Saulo for now, fearing he might go after Eric. She knew Saulo was
Noah, Ingrid, and Pat made a stopover at a restaurant. Ingrid was the first to return to the car, followed by Noah. Pat stayed inside after excusing himself to use the restroom.Ingrid stood with her arms crossed, leaning against the passenger door, when Noah approached her. He sighed when she didn’t speak or even glance at him.“Just let me handle this, okay?” he said. “I’ll talk to them. Maybe I’ll set up a video conference call tomorrow.”“Whatever. You’re the boss,” she said sarcastically.“Ingrid…” He touched her arm. “I know how important your job at RTA is to you. I just want you to be happy.”That’s when she looked at him. “You can’t make me happy, Noah.”She saw the pain and the disappointment in his face. It confirmed what she’d suspected all along—that Noah only ever wanted her to be happy, to protect her at all costs. Because he knew her first relationship had been a disaster, he had made it his mission to make sure she was okay.“You’re not obligated to make me happy,” In
"Hey," Noah said gently when Ingrid sighed after letting him know she was going to lunch with Cade. She couldn't help but pout. Ingrid had been feeling needy and clingy these past few days, and she hated it. But all she really wanted was to spend more time with Noah—time that didn’t feel like it was stolen. Most importantly, she wanted time that wasn’t spent hiding and being careful."Can’t we even eat lunch or have a snack together at the cafeteria? I mean, I’m your EA. I don’t think people will get the wrong idea if they see us."Noah sighed as he gently pulled her closer. "We can’t," he said, pinching her chin. "It’s better to be cautious. I think people would suspect something... about you."Ingrid frowned. "You think something about me?"Noah let out a soft laugh. "You must have noticed how hard I try not to look at you whenever we’re not alone because my look will give it all away. You see, it’s not going to take a rocket scientist to figure it out."Something warm bloomed insid
The following weekend, Ingrid canceled her plans at the last minute. She was supposed to meet Noah at a restaurant that evening but changed her mind. She just didn’t feel like going out—her period had started, and she was feeling sluggish. It was past nine in the evening when she got a call from Noah checking in on her."I'm good. As I said, I’m just on my period. Sometimes I just don’t have the energy to do anything when it’s like this.""Okay. I’m just checking on you.""Checking on me… Or are you upset?""What the hell, Ingrid?" Noah said. "What made you think that?""I don’t know. I was just wondering. We didn’t see each other last weekend either."She had spent Saturday afternoon with Pat and Maki. They made spontaneous plans for the next day—hopping around the city, trying street food, and catching a movie that evening. They made the most of the rare time they were all free."I told you I was fine with it."Ingrid picked up the hint of irritation in Noah’s voice."Not even a lit
"Why are you watching me?" Ingrid laughed after drying her hair with a blow-dryer. It was Saturday afternoon, and she was getting ready to leave Noah's house. She had been there since Friday night.Noah shrugged. "I'm just going to miss you, that's all.""You're exaggerating." She pinched his cheek when she faced him. "I'll just come back here tomorrow. How's that? I already said yes to Pat tonight. It's been a week since my birthday, and we haven't seen each other yet.""That's fine. Don't overwork yourself. Take a rest tomorrow, and we'll see each other on Monday."Ingrid walked out of the bathroom, followed by Noah. The longer she stayed, the more at home she felt in Noah's house. She loved everything about it, especially his bedroom. She faced him when they were standing by the bed where her clothes were piled for her to wear when she went home."So, what will my boyfriend do while I'm gone?" She asked sweetly, then wrapped her arms around his neck.Boyfriend, really? It still fel
