Kaitlyn called.

Said there was a potluck dinner with the rest of the familyㅡBraxton and Bianca. And we were expected to be there too.

Couldn't we just stay home? I had tried to convince Slade as we lay on the bed a few hours ago, just inhaling our scents but he said we needed to go as it was a yearly tradition that he didn't want to miss.

Now, we were in his car with me resting my head on the cold pane of glass. We had been driving for what seemed to be hours but was only 10 minutes.

“Do we really have to?” I groaned.

His gaze flickered to mine. “You wanna turn back around? You okay?” He sounded worried.

A smirk pulled at my lips and I turned to him, using my hand to relax my head. “No, I'm just pulling your leg.”

He visibly relaxed, tension rolling off his shoulders. “Great.”

The rest of the ride was silent and I just gripped the armrest, biting hard on my lip.
