ALORA

"Caden!" Someone shouted my name as I made my way towards the field with Noah. I turned back to see the archery coach walking towards us in hurried strides. What could be the problem now?

"Did you do something again?" Noah leaned in and whispered to my ears but I shook my head.

"None that I could think of." I muttered a response as we waited for him to get closer to where we stood. He did so in seconds.

"Good day, coach." I greeted calmly, hoping that he wasn't here to punish me or something. "Is everything okay?"

"I didn't see you on the archery field." It was more of a statement that a question and it made me wonder why he thought I'd be there of all places. Especially after the fight that almost ensured between me and Kalix.

"Because I don't do archery anymore." I blurted out. "I thought that I made it clear last time Kalix and I—"

"Kalix has agreed to it." He cut me short. I glanced at Noah and back at the coach. Is this some kind of joke because if it was then it wasn't fun

ALORA"They're here." Coach alerted us and I sucked in a deep breath before walking back to the field. I tried to put my emotions on check so that nobody will figured out the fact that I just cried. My mother told me not to cry or show any kind of emotions that will get me into trouble but here I am, doing the complete opposite of her words. If she had seen me now, I probably would've gotten an earful about my actions. Thank goodness she wasn't here to see that."Try to make it a friendly game." Coach advised us. "We usually don't do this but we're trying to foster a good friendly relationship with both schools before the competition, hence the practice game.""You might not like them but be a good sport regardless so we can finish and call it a day." He added and we both nodded.Luckily, staying out of trouble is a place where I shine at the moment so I know that I'll be okay. I can't say the same for Kalix though."Welcome." I heard coach greeting the others to welcome them while I

ALORA"Again!" Coach yelled from behind as Kalix and I took another shot at our target. We were practicing before one last time before today's game began.I glanced at Kalix briefly but he was hyper focused to give a flying fuck about me or my peering stare. I still don't understand how and why he's engaged. Not that I'm bothered but I am."Caden, you're distracted." Coach called out my name, jerking me from my thoughts. I zoned out on the field. Hopefully It doesn't happen during practice."If you zone out like this on the field, it'll cost us problems and give our opponents a higher hand. We can't afford you getting distracted Caden so stay focused." He advised and I nodded.Kalix sighed and continued. He had told me not to mess it up for him and I know he feels like I'm about to do such but I won't.I don't like losing any more than he does so I'll try my best to keep up with him even though he's literally the last person that I want to be working with at the moment. "Alright coac

ALORAThe next morning, I am awake even before my alarm goes off. I couldn't sleep well last night. Too many thoughts were running through my mind and I found it difficult to sleep. And one of those thoughts involved the girl who came yesterday night. Princess Ava. I wanted to find out how they got engaged even though it wasn't my business.I just couldn't shake off the feeling that Kalix was engaged. And from the look of things, she comes from an influential pack like mine too so how come I didn't hear anything about the engagement.Surely, it would be buzzing around if it truly happened or did both families do it in secret?"Kalix you sly dog." I muttered to myself. He didn't even waste any time to jump ships. He immediately got engaged after he found out that I was dead? How convenient! And why am I so pissed? I hate Kalix and if he's found himself someone good to condone his evil plots then fine. I'm happy as long as it's not me. I dodged a bullet after all.Forcing myself out of

KALIX"So you're sure that you want Caden on your team?" Coach asked for the umpteenth time that morning when I had decided to choose Caden as my partner for the competition. He couldn't believe his ears."You asked me to choose a partner, right?" I reminded him. "So this is me, choosing and I want him as my partner.""I know that I asked you to choose before but I also recall you telling me that you would never do such a preposterous thing. You even threatened to quit the team if I forced you so why the change of heart all of a sudden?" He asked and I looked away."Because I gave it some thought." I answered after a while. "And you were right. If I need to win then I have to choose someone to help me and so far, Caden is the best candidate for the position.""Listen, I know that you two don't get along so you honestly don't have to do this if you don't want to Kalix." He advised me sincerely."Being partners means that you'll have to work together, rely on each other's strengths and

ALORA"Nice work, you two." Coach complimented our efforts when we were done with practice for the day."With you two representing the team, I have nothing to fear. Keep this up Caden and you might be running for States with Kalix." He meant it as a joke but I didn't think Kalix was pleased with that kind of joke cause his face twisted into a deep frown."Help each other clean up when you're done and get rested for tomorrow's game. I'll see you on the field and don't be late." He stressed, eyes pinned on me when he said that before leaving."You're not going to say anything?" I asked but he doesn't respond just like he has been doing all morning. He was really good at the ignoring game, I'll give him that.He reached out to grab the equipment but when I did, he intentionally left me for me to do it alone and shifted his focus to another item.He was really serious about the silent treatment. I don't know why it's bothering me so much and I don't like it.Kalix ignoring me is supposed
