Chapter 252

Author: Little Happiness
Isaac looked at me momentarily and then spoke to the police officer beside him. "Mr. Foley, thank you."

Toby Foley immediately put on a friendly smile and politely said, "Ms. York, Mr. Shore has already taken care of your bail. You can leave now. There was a misunderstanding, and I'm sorry for the trouble you've been through."

I pressed my fingertips against the cracks in the wall, trying to stand. My legs had gone completely numb, and even the slightest movement made my whole body wobble. I sank back into the chair as embarrassment washed over me. My cheeks burned as I tried to stand again.

Just then, a strong, defined hand reached out toward me. Isaac crouched slightly, his lowered lashes hiding the emotion in his eyes. He said softly, "Give me your hand."

Toby, sensing the moment, turned his head and pretended to adjust his sleeves. I hesitated, then reached out. The moment I touched his palm, he held my hand firmly.

With a gentle pull, he helped me to my feet. With my legs sti

Isaac's question caught me off guard, and for a moment, I didn't know how to respond. Then I said firmly, "Yes. I want to divorce Timothy."Isaac laughed softly. "If you're divorcing him, then who am I to you? Some kind of uncle?"My cheeks flushed. I had no idea what he meant, so I tried to find a safe answer. "Benedict just prefers younger relatives who are polite," I said."Then just be polite in front of him. I don't need a troublesome niece your age," he said, his dark eyes sweeping over me.I paused and asked cautiously, "So, should I call you… Mr. Shore?""Whatever. Just don't call me 'Uncle Isaac'. It makes my skin crawl," he said lightly.I lowered my gaze. Rendered speechless, I simply nodded.Half an hour later, the car stopped in front of the Green residence. Warm yellow light spilled from behind the carved gates. The chill from the detention center lingered, seeping through me, and I sneezed as I got out. Isaac's eyes briefly scanned me before he walked straight in

My chest tightened. Timothy frowned as he turned to look at Yasmin. She immediately put on a pitiful expression and said, "Tim, I was just too worried about Daphne. I was afraid Ms. York might try to run off out of guilt, so I made another call to urge the police."Benedict quickly stepped forward and said to the police, "Officer, this is all a misunderstanding. We withdraw our report. Everything is fine now."But Yasmin said, "Benedict, I am Daphne's legal guardian now. I have to ensure my daughter's safety. Ms. York should still go to the police station to explain the situation. I cannot withdraw the report."Timothy's face darkened, but he didn't stop her. The police led me away. I glanced at his cold profile and finally understood why things had come to this between us.…The light in the detention room was harsh and blinding. I sat on the cold chair, listening as the police questioned me. "Ms. York, the lab results show that the food you delivered contained substances that ca

I thought it might be better to go to the police station and explain everything in person. At least then I wouldn't have to endure this false accusation. But Benedict's eyes blazed with anger. "You little brat. You called the police? Josie is your wife! How could you call the police?"Timothy's icy gaze cut through me. "Yes. Anyone who harms my daughter will face the consequences. Josie, you're coming with me to the station to explain everything to the police."He started dragging me out, and no one could stop him. His grip on my wrist was so tight that it hurt, and I couldn't break free.Suddenly, a deep, commanding voice came from behind. "Stop!"Timothy froze, disbelief written all over his face. Isaac descended the stairs, calm and composed, and walked straight up to us.Timothy narrowed his eyes. "Mr. Shore, don't think that just because you show up at my grandfather's house and claim to be an elder, you can interfere in my family's business. My family matters are none of yo

I changed the topic and asked, "Diana, how are you feeling? Are you feeling any better?"Diana coughed lightly, clutching her chest. "Same as before."Isaac saw this and said, "Mom, let me help you upstairs to rest.""Alright," she replied, her face pale. Before leaving, she turned to me and said, "Josie, go ahead and continue with dinner. I'll rest for a while."Benedict's face was full of worry and sadness as he watched them leave. I tried to comfort him. "Benedict, medical technology is so advanced now. Diana will be fine."He sighed. "We only found out when it was already in the late stage."He sighed a few more times. "Isaac may seem cold, but he has a warm heart. He has been visiting Diana regularly over the last few days. Otherwise, this would have been a lifetime regret for her."As we were talking, a maid rushed in, clearly panicked. "Benedict, Timothy is here. He brought a woman with him. It looks like Yasmin. They both seem very aggressive."No sooner had the words l

To apologize to Isaac in person, I accepted Benedict's invitation and went to the Green residence that evening. After changing my shoes at the entrance, I looked up and saw Isaac sitting on the living room couch. He had one arm casually resting on the armrest as he flipped through a magazine. His black shirt sleeves were rolled up to his elbows, revealing his sharp, defined forearms. As I approached, he looked up from behind his glasses. His gaze was cool and unreadable. He looked so relaxed that it was hard to believe that he had been the one to message me that day, asking me to attend the dinner. He didn't seem like he was going to say anything, so I awkwardly broke the silence. "Where are Benedict and Diana?""In the kitchen," he said, keeping his words short. The conversation stalled again. He shifted slightly on the couch, as if signaling for me to sit.I braced myself and sat next to him, my fingers fidgeting with the strap of my bag. Finally, I said, "Issac, I didn't skip t
