Chapter 216Patrick Banks ~•~“Why didn’t anybody tell me she was sick?” I yelled as I walked up the stairs. The housekeeper trailed behind me. “She specifically told us to keep it away from you.” She replied, her voice low. Wow. I couldn’t believe what was happening. Did she hate me that much? Apparently, my mother had been seriously sick for a few weeks. And she didn’t care to tell me about it. Nobody cared to tell me about it. Chapter 215Valerie Will ~•~“I’ve been trying to reach you. You’ve been ignoring my calls. I asked you out to lunch and you declined—.” I zoned out of the conversation after Damien kept on whining about my communication skills on the other end of the phone. “Valerie! Are you even listening to me?” He snapped, his voice rising in anger. “Damien, I’ve had a long day and I’m not in the mood for your tantrums.” My grip tightened on the steering wheel as I guided the car to another street. “Tantrums? I’m just trying to let you know that what you’re doing isn’t fair. I’ve been really patient with you but you’ve been treating me like I’m nothing.” “I’m sorry about that but I’m not in the mood for this,” I replied, my voice cold. I honestly didn’t want to pick up his call at first, but he kept pestering me and I just wanted to get it over with. It wasn’t like I was mad at him or anything. I just had other important things to focus on in my personal life. My kids were still missing.

Letting out a low groan, I opened my eyes and sat upright on the bed. I didn’t even look at the caller ID properly before answering the call.
