Killian.

“I didn't expect you'd come. You've been distant.” Damon blurted out as I plopped down beside him.

Meanwhile Sebastian is oddly quiet, just sipping his drink.

I sigh. “I have been busy,”

“I see,” he mutters, gulping down the content in his glass. “And that's got your mom pissed. She called.”

My face falls. “My mom? Why?”

There's a beat of silence.

I can already feel my anger brewing.

“Apparently she wants me, us—,” he points to Seb, whose disinterest in this topic clearly shows. “She wants us to talk some sense into you,”

My jaw ticked.

Anger pricks my spine.

I can't believe she's been calling everyone.

But I will.

I've had enough of her trying to run my life.

“So what are you both going to do? Lecture me?”

Seb finally speaks. “You need to direct that anger to the right source. Get your mom off your back and live your life.”

Killian. It's approximately ten minutes before the sleuth arrives. I'm in Damon's house and Seb just walked in.“Sorry I'm late. Got caught up with something,” Seb says as he plopped down into the couch.“It's fine. You're still in time before he gets here,”It's been a whole week and Tamara is shuffling between work and the hospital.Catherine's still unconscious. And I think my mom's back. I got her text a day before.Jayna says she's fine, giving telltale about her trips nonstop. That's all I need to know.At least she's not in my hair, just yet.I can fully concentrate on this investigation. My only concern right now is the rate of stress on Tamara at the moment. She won't stop work and I can't stop her. I know this. She jungles it well but most times she comes home tired.I'm worried. We've been — cordial, yeah that's what I'll call it.I see the boundaries she's been setting but I'll take what I can get right now as long as we're not leaving past one another.“It's that a joke,

Tamara.“What's he doing here?” Hazel blurts out, eyeing Killian from across the room. Her face is tight, her brows knitting together in a way that I know all too well.I glance at Killian and shrug. “He just came and he's insisting on staying,”Hazel lifts her brows. “And you're just going to let him?” she gives me a sharp, judgemental look or rather concerned look.I exhale. “I don't know. What do you expect that I do, throw him out?” I breathed out tiredly.Hazel senses my discomfort and her eyes softens, voice low.“I'm just —- it's fine.” She says and trail off but her eyes stays on me. “I just don't want you getting hurt, that's all,”I— I know Hazel's worried. I am too. Being this close to Killian just complicates things.I've tried to stay away from him but it's not working…I find myself getting close to him, wanting to be close to him. It's insane. And looking at Killian now, I can't seem to ignore how his eyes softens when it meets mine, or how his blonde hair looks perfectl

Killian.I dial Tamara's number again.Switched off.My nerves keeps growing. She was meant to be home this morning but it's 6PM yet nothing.Caroline's number is unreachable, same goes to Hilda.I can feel it in my bones.Something's off.My fingers twitch on the steering wheel. I brake a little too hard at a red light.“Slow down, Killian. You'll get us killed,” Jayna groaned.I do.I don't respond to that but I ease off the gas and slow down a little, trying to rest my mind. But it isn't working.“You know she's trouble, right?” Jayna's voice pulls me back to earth.“Who?”She rolls her eyes at me. “Chloe,”“No, she's not.”She stares, harder. “Everyone knows that except you,”“That's because she hasn't given me any reason to,”“How about showing up at your house uninvited?”I give her a look. “She's a friend, always been, you know this,”“A friend who's not a friend to your wife,”I want to reply but the words are stuck in my mouth.I blink slowly and turn to look at Jayna. “You t

Chloe.I glance down at the photos before me, a sliver of confusion marring my forehead. These are photos of Tamara in and out of a clinic.Same one he was seen with Killian twice.I look at Jacob, the shamus I had hired to secretly trail her.The tracker in Killian's car shows he's been at the same hospital too.I don't get it.Why's he in and out of a hospital with her?I try to lurk around a few nurses there but got nothing.Patient's confidentiality or whatever bullshit they called it.But I'll find out.I swear, I will.Right now, I've been able to get a mole in her workplace. It hasn't helped, she rarely talks to anyone but it's something.“I need you to still keep an eye on her. I want details of what she's up, do you understand me?”He nods, picks up his things and left.I lean back into the chair, my frustration growing with each passing second.I hate to be uncertain, unsure.Killian hasn't even stopped by to check on me, my cast is due to be removed but I guess I still need

Killian.“I'll let him know you're here, sir.” The petite lady at the front desk says.A new face. I'm not surprised. Seb changes secretaries like he changes his cars.“No need. He knows I'm here,”Her phone dings and when she looks up she nods at me with a polite smile.I head down the hall to Seb's office. He's on phone when I get to the door.I wait.Somehow that's my bypass.A deal he's been trying to secure for a while now.He keeps turning down my request to help but I know I need to if we're letting bygones.“Alright Mr. Jackson. I'll have my legal team prepare the contract.”I pull the doorknob and walk in, a bottle of wine in hand.He eyes me, carefully.I raise it.“I'm sorry. I seek peace,”He's silent and then slowly a smirk forms.“To hell with peace, Killian. Get your ass down but you're not forgiven,” he breathed out. “I'm still pissed, still bitter. You threw that in my face, unfiltered.”I go silent for a moment. Then I ease myself into the chair opposite from him.I

Tamara. The words stop me cold.I take a quick glance at Hilda and she's stiff. And a little stunned. She tries to hide it, of course, quickly repairing her expression. But I catch it.She didn't expect mom to spill, perhaps not yet, and definitely not now.I turn to mom and she's all tears, hiccups and snotty. This gets me.I try not to think of worse case scenario but my mom, her tears, her expression. She looks broken. She did something.I can feel it.I've never seen her cry this much, not even when Dad died.A lump lunges itself in my throat. I swallow.“She— she was what…?”Tears. They're pouring down her face.Heavy.Uncontrollably.“Mom?” I call out, my voice tight. But her sobs fills the room. Her tears tugs at my heart.I reach out to her. “Fine. You don't have to say it. I won't speak of it—,”“I hurt Katrina, deeply.”I pause, chest heaving. She wipes her face and lowers her head. “It was never my intention. But it happened and I couldn't erase that.”“Greg was there. I wa
