Chapter 245: Bowling

Cassandra’s POV

Later that night, Dillon and I were putting on our rented bowling shoes. He’d insisted we go bowling as a mid-week date. I wasn’t too keen on the idea, since I wasn’t much of a bowler and the thought of wearing shoes that someone else had worn was gross to me.

But he was excited, so I did it for him.

My meeting with Stella was weighing heavily on me though. She’d been so blunt, so formal. It was her way of hiding her disappointment in me, which I totally deserved! I’d just wished that she had yelled, or cried – anything other than the silent detachment she’d shown.

Dillon knew something was wrong, but I waved off his questions. He was really looking forward to this date and I didn’t want to dampen the mood.

“Okay, Cass,” he said, his eyes twinkling. The sound of bowling balls travelling down the lane and pills falling over reverberated throughout the bowling hall. “You’re up. Show me what you got!”

Cassandra’s POV A jack hammer. I was pretty sure there was a jack hammer inside my head, pounding away from the inside of my skull. I opened my eyes but then shut them immediately. It was too bright. Where the hell was I? My head was throbbing and my stomach felt sick. My mouth was pasty, my tongue thick. I opened my eyes again, more slowly this time. The Venetian bedroom came into view. Right. I was in Las Vegas. At Stella’s Bachelorette party. But I was in bed, in my pajamas, a baseball cap beside me. What the? How had I gotten here? I struggled to piece together what had happened. We’d been at the strip club. All of us. We were having dinner and then the strippers came out. Stella was called out on stage and then… It was blank after that. I tried to sit up but my head hurt so bad I couldn’t even lift it from the pillow. Where was everyone?

Cassandra’s POV Two hours later and we were at the male strip club, sitting in the VIP section, our dinners finished, watching the opening acts for the strippers. Stella’s words had cut like a knife. They’d literally knocked the breath right out of me. A bridesmaid? Stella and Laura had been friends for like, a hot minute. Why would Stella ask her to be a bridesmaid? I didn’t understand. Were they really that good of friends? When had this happened? And why hadn’t Stella told me? That didn’t seem like something you just forget to tell your best friend. I hadn’t really said anything. I’d just sort of stood there, like an idiot. I mean, what could I say? Please don’t? She’s crazy! I don’t like her? It wasn’t my choice. It was Stella’s. It was her wedding, her bridal party. It wasn’t my place to tell her who she could or could not have in her own bridal party. Besides, as far as everyone else was con

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 261: Pop Off

Cassandra’s POV There wasn’t much I could do. I mean, I couldn’t exactly scream ‘you stupid bitch! You burnt off my hair on purpose.’ No one would believe me. Laura was a great actress, and she seemed so authentically apologetic. I’d seen her sly smile though. She’d done this on purpose. Hadn’t she? I mean, it was a pretty sly act of sabotage with a pretty solid cover up. Girls burned their hair all the time. How could I accuse her of something that was such a common accident? No one would believe me. They were all convinced it hadn’t been intentional. And why shouldn’t they think that? I mean who BURNS off someone else’s hair? A sociopath, that’s who. But I couldn’t say it out loud. I was pretty convinced though by this point that Laura was, in fact, out to get to me. Between stealing Stella, taking over the Vegas trip, telling me she missed Dillon, and now BURNING OFF MY FUCKING HAIR

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 260: Laura, The Hair Dresser

Cassandra’s POV It wasn’t just Stella’s hair that Laura insisted on doing – it was everyone’s. Apparently, Laura had salon quality hair straighteners and curling irons, and she’d taken a couple hair styling classes one summer when she was bored. Maddy, Maureen, Kyla and Stacey all embraced the idea of having their hair done before our big night out. Me? Not so much. She’d done a good job with Stella’s hair, I had to admit that. Stella’s tiara was firmly fixed on the top of her head, the bands covered in cascading curls. I’d had a special shirt made that said “BRIDE TO BE” in big, block letters. I’d also had one made for all us girls. Mine said “MAID OF HONOR” (of course). Stacey and Kyla’s shirts said “BRIDESMAID” because they both were. And Maureen, Maddy, and Laura’s (which I’d had to rush order once I found out she was coming) all said “FRIENDS OF THE BRIDE”. I knew it was cheesy, but that was exactly the point. I w

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 259: An Unsettling Conversation

Cassandra’s POV Sharing a bed with Laura wasn’t exactly high on my list of ‘things I wanted to do’. But this whole Vegas trip was about Stella, so I decided to just go with it. “Sure,” I said, flashing Laura a smile. “Sounds good to me.” We all set about unpacking for a bit while Laura ordered us room service, champagne and some appetizers. I’d planned a big night out for us, but before our night out, we were going to hit up the pool for a bit. An hour later, we were all lounging by one of the resort’s many pools. It was hot as hell though, and there wasn’t much shade. So most of the women were standing waist deep in the water. I was alone on one of the loungers, lathering myself with sunscreen when Laura sidled up to me. I couldn’t help but notice her tanned, glowing skin; I was pale in comparison. “Mind if I sit?” she asked, dragging a lounger over to me before I could answer. “Aren’t you hot?” she said, splaying her

We walked out of the airport terminal, all seven of us, suitcases in tow. The heat hit us and I instantly started sweating. “Jesus, it’s really hot,” I commented, making my way over to the line of taxis. “Where are you going, Cass?” Laura asked. “To get us a cab? They have vans, see?” I pointed. “I ordered us a limo,” Laura said, pointing in a different direction. “Fuck the taxi. We’re arriving in style.” “Oooh,” the girls squealed happily as they headed towards the waiting limo with a man holding Stella’s name. “Right,” I said. Stupid Laura with her stupid limo. Why hadn’t I thought of that? But I pushed my thoughts aside. We were here. In Las Vegas! Nothing was going to stop us from having the most fabulous time. Not even Laura and her stupid limo. We all climbed in, thankful for the air conditioning. “Are we crazy?” Stella asked. “Coming to the desert in the midd
