Cassandra’s POV

“Hi, Cass,” Laura smiled brightly at me. “I’m just stopping by to see Lisa. She’s been gushing over your company and her job so I thought I’d come check it out.”

The elevator began travelling up. My stomach lurched. I still disliked being in elevators, ever since I was trapped in the elevator a few months ago. My hands were clenched.

“You okay?” Laura asked. “You seem tense.”

“I just don’t like elevators,” I smiled politely at her. My recent coffee date with Lisa flashed into my mind.

‘Laura is a sociopath. Keep her at arms’ length.’

I had to admit, Laura didn’t seem like a sociopath. She stood beside me, smiling brightly, her shiny black hair perfectly brushed, in a cute, purple A-line dress.

“I hear that,” Laura said. “I’m not a big either of them either. I used to have nightmares where I was stuck in an elevator. And then it dropped. I always woke up right before it hit the ground. It was awful.”

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 518: Saturday Morning Breakfast

Cassandra’s POV The next morning, I woke up with the trip on my mind. Dillon was already up, probably making the kids his famous Saturday morning French toast. I wrapped myself in my robe and padded down to the kitchen. It was a bright, sunny morning, with the sunlight so bright on the snow, it made me squint. Without any clouds in the sky, it was chillier than usual. There was frost on the outside of the windows. Tulia and Jordie were seated at the kitchen island, kicking their feet, giggling as Dillon made a show of flipping the French toast. It was a sight that always warmed my heart. Dillon donned his ‘father of the year’ apron, a father’s day gift picked out by Jordie himself. He had French toast batter smudged on his left cheek. But he was in his element. There were few things that Dillon loved more than cooking his family a big breakfast on a lazy Saturday morning. “Where are the twins?” I asked, stifling a ya

Cassandra’s POV We all stared at one another. For a moment, no one said anything. It was Dillon who broke the silence. “I assumed you responded,” Dillon told me. “I assumed you did. She’s your sister,” I defended myself. “She’s your friend. And so is Jordyn,” Dillon replied. “You didn’t reply to the email, Stella?” Cameron said accusatorily. “No, I was working,” Stella quipped back. “So was I,” Cameron said. “Looking after our kids is work, Stell.” “Okay, everyone just…stop,” I said, holding up my hand. I couldn’t believe that NONE of us had replied. I glanced at my watch. It was almost midnight. The email had actually been sent that morning, our time, very early in the morning. I just hadn’t seen it until later. Which meant that it had been well over twelve hours since they’d sent it. “Dakota must be out of her mind by now,” Dillon said, shaking his head. “She probably think

Cassandra’s POV “Go, Jordie! Come on! You got this!” I was yelling at the indoor field, jumping up and down. Dillon gently placed his hand on my arm and shook his head. Sheepishly, I stopped shouting. Dillon and I had talked about this. It was so easy to get caught up in the soccer game, but we didn’t want to be ‘those parents’. I gave him a knowing nod. “Kill him. Get the ball. Run, Matthew. Faster! Use your head. Look around. Pass!” A parent beside us hollered at her son. ‘Kill him?’ I mouthed to Dillon. Good god. Some of the parents were really cut throat. These kids were only seven!Dillon chuckled. She was clearly one of ‘those parents’. I made a silent vow to never holler from the sidelines again. “Sorry. Sorry. We had a bit of an accident. Nothing serious. Just a, um, potty training issue.” We turned to see Stella and Cameron. Stella had Rose on her hip and Cameron had a disgruntl

Jordyn’s POVI could hear Dakota getting Stanley up from his room. He was too big for a crib, but we couldn’t bring ourselves to move him into a big boy bed yet. He was growing up so fast, and we both wanted to cling onto every stage for as long as we could.“There’s my sleep man,” Dakota cooed from his bedroom. “Come on, love. Let’s go see Daddy. Then maybe we can get bundled up and go for a walk in the snow.”I glanced at my phone. No response yet.I wasn’t worried though. Short notice, yes.But they would come.Dakota and I had decided on a tropical wedding, to escape the cold chill of February. Dakota and I had been on a trip to Cancun right before Stanley was born, and we’d fallen in love with the Mexican paradise. We just wanted something small and intimate. No muss, no fuss. Just us and our closest friends on a beach, professing our vows to each other.I’d booked us all into a resort for a full week. We all had suites and a dedicated butler, as well as private plunge pools, and

Jordyn’s POV“Have they responded?” I glanced at Dakota. She was pacing around the living room, a veritable goddess with her dark wavy hair cascading over her shoulders. Her face was fraught with worry though as she wrung her hands in front of her. “I just sent the email,” I said softly. “Give them a few minutes at least.” “What if they can’t come?” she asked me. “It’s such short notice, Jordyn. I need them all there. I… “They’ll come,” I assured her. “Here, let me get you some herbal tea. Lemongrass?” She nodded and bit her lip. I went off to the kitchen to prepare the tea for her. Outside, the snow was falling so hard, it came streaking past the window in horizontal lines. It was one of the things that had taken me some time to get used to when I’d moved to Sweden. The winters were long and cold, much longer and colder than back home. But I’d suffer a thousand cold winters to be with Dakota. The

  • Divorce and Regret, His Ex-wife is a Billionaire   Chapter 513: The Best of Both Worlds

Dillon’s POV I stared in utter disbelief at the email in front of me. When I’d seen the tagline, URGENT – I’d feared the worst. I could see that the email had also been sent to Cass, Cam, and Stella. It couldn’t be good, right? Why would Jordyn send an email marked URGENT to all of us unless something bad had happened. Was it Stanley? My sister? Jordyn himself? With panicky hands, I’d opened the email. Upon opening the email though, a completely different sense of panic washed over me. One of my waiters, a new hire, approached me with a random question about the wine menu. But I waved him off and wandered into my office. It had been a long day, as the opening of B & B drew near. We were having a dry run tomorrow night, and it was going to be a veritable shit show. But I expected nothing less. This was the fifth restaurant I’d opened in the past six years, and I knew enough by now to know that, no matter how much planning
