Cassandra’s POV

I chuckled at Jordyn’s question. Honestly, I didn’t really know how it felt to be a billionaire because it was all still so new.

“You tell me,” I replied with a shrug.

He sighed deeply and leaned back in his chair. Crickets were starting to chirp, and a nice, cool evening breeze blew over us.

“I haven’t processed it yet,” he said. “I think I’m still in shock.”

I nodded. “You’re okay though? I mean, it couldn’t have been easy watching your mother get hauled away in handcuffs. Even though it was you who initially reported her to the police.

“Larry and I had a good talk just before dinner,” Jordyn said. “I didn’t realize that he was so close to my grandfather. It’s crazy to think about, really. Larry knew this entire time that Vivienne wasn’t getting a dime and that she was going to be arrested. But he had to bide his time and wait until we read the will. He’s a good man. A really good man.”

Jordyn’s POV Laura kept scrunching her hair and chuckled. “Going through my things?” she asked, but her tone was playful. I was pretty upset and in no mood for playful banter. I wanted an explanation. I honestly couldn’t believe what I’d read in the contract. “Why did you do this?” I demanded, still brandishing the contract. Laura sighed. “Jordyn,” she said, coming into the office. “It’s just business. You of all people should know that. I haven’t done anything wrong.” “Do you honestly think Cassandra and Stella would have signed this if they’d taken the time to read it?” I asked her. “I don’t know,” Laura replied. “It sounds like you’re accusing me of something. But I think you’re forgetting that I helped them out of a tight spot. I loaned them a lot of money, Jordyn.” “Don’t act innocent,” I snapped at her. “You knew damn well what you were doing when you drew up this contract. Yes, y

Jordyn’s POV Laura was in the shower. We’d both slept until noon after the wild party last night. I had no idea what time we’d gotten home, but I had a vague recollection of tossing off my clothes and stumbling into Laura’s bed.My head was throbbing. I clearly overdid with the tequila shots. But it had been worth it.I couldn’t remember the last time I had such a fun night. My father had enjoyed himself too. At one point, he’d pulled me aside, his cheeks rosy, his eyes sparkling.“You’ve got some really good friends here, Jordyn,” he’d said, patting me on the back. I’d glanced over at the group, all pitching in to set the table for our outdoor feast.Stella and Cameron had been bickering, as per usual, in their playful way. Laura had been arranging the cutlery, looking like a Goddess in a low cut, backless dress, her hair still wet from the pool. Larry and Dillon were chatting away while filling up the wine glasses. The ambience was light and comfortable. They’d welcomed

Dillon’s POV I didn’t have the heart to tell Cassandra that I didn’t want to live at Stanley’s estate. I wanted to live here, in the home that I’d built. THIS was my home. Not some enormous estate built by a billionaire. I don’t know how to describe it, but as I listened to Cassandra talk about Stanley’s estate, which was actually HER estate now, something inside of me shifted. I felt uncomfortable, uneasy, in a way that I couldn’t explain. I have no idea why it bothered me, but it did, hearing her go on and on about the estate, like it was a piece of heaven come down to earth. I was happy for her, happy that she’d been given all this wealth, but deep down, I was afraid that it would somehow change things between us. Cassandra had grown up wealthy, just as I had. We’d both had country club memberships and vacationed in exclusive places. My level of wealth had always been a bit more than hers, though. And don’t get me wrong, it wasn’t that I

Dillon’s POV “Good morning, beautiful,” I said to Cass as she staggered into the kitchen. She was a hot mess, with bed hair, her fingers on her temple. Her nose was looking pretty bad too. It had taken on a greenish color, and the bruise had caused her eyes to blacken. Or was that unwashed mascara? I honestly couldn’t tell. “My head,” she whispered, steadying herself on the kitchen counter. “It feels like someone put a jack hammer right inside my skull.” I chuckled. “That’s what happens when you do eight tequila shots.” Her eyes widened. “Did I really do that many?” she asked. “That I saw, yes. Here.” I slid over an ice-cold glass of orange juice and a couple of aspirin. “What time did everyone leave?” she asked. “Around 3am,” I told her. “That was quite the party.” Cassandra glanced around the kitchen. I’d only gotten up about a half hour before her. The place was a mess, wi

Cassandra’s POV Three hours later, and we were all stuffed. We’d gorged on steaks and grilled lobster tails, gourmet stuffed potatoes, marinated roasted veggies, and fresh salads. We’d all laughed when Laura brought out the cake with a picture of handcuffs on it. She held out the knife to Jordyn. “I’ll let you do the honors,” she told him. With a wide smile, Jordyn cut into the cake. Now we were all sitting on the beautiful outdoor furniture in the summer setting sun. Howard and Larry had both excused themselves shortly after dinner. But they thanked us both.I was feeling a bit tipsy from a tad too much champagne, but other than that, I didn’t have a care in the world. At least, that’s how it felt. Jordyn and Laura really seemed to be getting closer. He had his arm wrapped around her and was gently stroking her knee. He looked at her with so much affection. I was happy for him, I really was. I just wished he’d found s
