NOAH’S POV

She was different, the second Emma walked in, her smile had shrunk, the jovial look in her eyes replaced with something dark— like a void.

“President Beck, the…”

I knew what she wanted to say, I could see the shock in her eyes, we were a couple to her knowledge but she hadn’t seen us spend the night in the same room, other than the first time.

“I will excuse you both,” Sasha said in a monotone voice as she moved off the bed.

She was distancing herself again, hiding behind that big brick wall she uses to shield herself.

The door closed behind her, and she didn’t wait to hear what I had to say.

“Did I interrupt?” Emma asked, looking at me with a guilty look on her face.

“No, what is the problem,” I asked, I can only handle one problem at a time.

“The building manager, he has some issues with the electrical…”

Did she just barge into my room because of this?

“Where is Matt?” I hissed, interrupting her, my tone in a low growl.

She looked unsure, “He wasn’t picking his calls and

  • Divorced By My Ex, Accepted By His Step-Brother    Is it too late to run?

SASHA’S POVWhen I finally found the courage to return home, it was dark, and way past dinner. Rose was the first to welcome me, arms wrapped around me like we had always been this close.“Took you long enough,” she chuckled, slapping me gently on my shoulder. When I was younger, I had wanted this, hoped for a moment like this with her. But instead, all I got were mean stares and snarky comments.“What are you doing here Rose?” I growled, pulling away from her hug. I had only allowed her to stay because a part of me still felt like she was the only family that I had.Buti was wary of her presence. Rose was a wild card. Impulsive and very very explosive. Her smile dropped, her shoulders sagged as she moved deeper into the house. This wasn’t the flamboyant rose that I knew. The one that wasn’t the loudest but knew exactly how to draw attention. This person before me felt hollow, a shell of the truth.“What happened?” I asked, instantly kicking myself for sounding like I care. But this w

AUTHOR’S POV“Isn’t Maya enough for you?” Anastasia hissed into the phone.Roman smirked, a soft chuckle echoing through the phone. “Is that jealousy I hear?”“No, just facts. Let me guess, you need more money? Maya isn’t that careless with money is she?” she growled.“Have you checked the news today?” he asked. Her face twisted, her brows raised, “Like I haven’t seen the countless news channels talking about the fashion disaster that had happened. Didn’t Maya tell you?”Roman chuckled, “Yes she did. Spent the night comforting her,”Her fist tightened, he was pushing her buttons, taunting her, “I ask again, what do you want from me, Roman?”“Indulge me, turn on the TV,”She released a tired sigh, picking up the remote as she turned on the TV. Her fingers trembled, breath shaky as she watched the men drag out Carla, the young data analyst in the sah fashion house.“What is going on?” she whispered.“Helped Maya find the person who has been stealing from the company,” he replied in a so

AUTHOR’S POVThe press were relentless, standing on the edge of the property, screaming, waiting for someone to walk out of the Conrad building and give them something.Just last night, they had witnessed the Conrads dressed in aprons assembled by their rival, Sasha Becks. The question on everyone’s mind was, Is the war over?Amelia walked around the house, looking for a Conrad that would run with the story she had typed. Rather than step out and face the battle, they all cowered in their rooms, in hopes that they would ride the tide.“They aren’t paying me enough for this,” she muttered, walking towards the matriarch’s private library.Last night has been a disaster; the press had witnessed it in real time, and now, they were all reliving the moment they wished to forget.“Amelia, why are you pacing the grounds, you are going to dig a hole with those feet of yours,” Petal commented, sipping on her favourite tea.“The silence isn’t what we need now. We have to put out a statement, som

NOAH’S POVWhen the sun finally rose, I was already in my suit and tie, ready to face the day. Well, more like trying to run from a certain someone.“You are not Sasha,” I muttered, shocked to find a figure sitting with a soft smile on her face. “Hi, I am Rose, Sasha’s little sister,” she responded, hands stretched out, waiting for me to shake. She had made her choice then. My heart sank at the realisation. She didn’t wait for me or tell me about the new guest. I wanted to be angry at her, but I couldn’t, she had been on my bed, waiting patiently for me to say something and I didn’t.This wasn’t on her; it was on me.“Pleasure to meet you,” I said in the best polite tone I could muster. “But I do have to run along now, do have a pleasant stay,”With that, I nodded at Matt, signalling for him to open the door. I was going to make it easy for Sasha. I would come around whenever we had events or invitations. But other than that, she wasn’t going to see much of me anymore.I had to do th

SASHA’S POVI felt stupid.I should have gone to my room, but for a second, I had been stupid, let Nina’s words ring through my head.He hadn’t looked at me, didn’t say a word, walked into the bathroom like I was a memory he wished he never had.I couldn’t sit on the bed, and act like nothing had happened. I was the one, the one who was sprawled out on his bed, screaming his name like a prayer.I picked up my phone, “Hey, do you mind if I come over?”“Come over Sasha,” Nina said over the phone.I did want ii always do. Packed a few bags and ran.If I don’t stay around it, he wouldn’t be a problem, and maybe just maybe he can stare at me with something other than regret in his eyes.Nina was waiting by her door, a thin blanket wrapped around her body. He hadn’t called, and the guards didn’t even blink when they noticed me drive out. All they did was have a team follow me.Was that his twisted way of telling me that he wants me? Owns me?“Is everything fine?” she asked, I could hear the

NOAH’S POVShe was a Beck by name only. But the lines had blurred the minute my lips touched hers. Her body melted into mine, like she had been waiting for this moment. Her lips followed my lead, as she deepened the kiss.I had given her a chance to walk away, to leave with her dignity intact. But she had chosen this and sought the ruin that I was about to give.I pulled away slowly, my eyes taking in her swollen lips, her uneven breath and the way she could barely stand. She looked surreal like a woman who has just been given what she had lost.I needed to have her, to claim her.The thought slammed through me like a train, her eyes were hooded, matching the hungry look in my eyes. She had said nothing when I pulled the dress down, my hand lingering on her lower back, enjoying the way her muscles became taut as I moved. Her perfume was an aphrodisiac, clouding my mind, trapping me in the suffocating temptation that I didn't want to break out from.“Sasha…” her name felt like smoke in
