Mag-log inEmma’s POV
“You should go” Marie said, her brows were shot up as if she were asking me the question rather than giving me the go ahead. The screen sat open on the table in front of me, my mind racing with several ideas. Maybe he wanted to fix things. He could have seen the media’s reactions and I wanted to fix them as well. “I want to” I finally said the words out loud. She nodded slowly, “Then you should” she stood up, walking to the tray that held keys in the kitchen. She came up to me and handed it to me, “There you can use my car” I stared down at it, my mouth open in surprise, “Are you serious?” She raised a brow, “Why are you acting like this sis anything really? We’re basically sisters, of course you could use my car and maybe if y’all make it up to each other then this means I can get some elite dinner in repayment” My eyes were sparkling in gratefulness, “Thank you so much Marie.” I stood up, wearing my jacket and then walked away. There was a slight spring in my steps as I got into the car. Yesterday my world had been tumbling down and now that he realized his mistake, he wanted me back. There should have been a little pride but I felt none. All I felt was love. “Welcome ma’am” the security guard told me as he led me to Alex’s office. It was James, one of the nicer guards. He was my favorite. “Thank you” I smiled back politely. Inside the office, Alex sat on his chair, not even lifting his head as James announced my presence. I decided to ignore it, maybe he was occupied and this was how he usually acted anyway. “Thank you James, you may leave now” The door closed behind the huge man and we were alone in the room. The only sounds were that of my heart pounding and air conditioner whirring. He spun the pen in his hand, still not looking up and now it felt like an insult rather than habit. I stewed silently, watching as time ticked by behind him. Already ten minutes had gone by. I couldn’t hold myself back any more, “You called me” He released a sigh as if just realizing, “I almost forgot you were here for a minute” and I knew there were no plans of reconciliation. My jaw tightened with the realization, “Now that you remember, may I know why you called me here? I thought you made everything clear last night” He pushed the chair back slowly, “And I thought I did as well but clearly the media didn’t get the memo” I raised a brow, surprised he was acting all high and mighty, “They got the memo alright, you are a cheater and betrayer. I’m not sure what the issue here is?” He smirked, an evil one, there was a shine in his eyes I had never seen before. “You would believe that, sitting on that high horse simply because I havent exposed the full length of your lies to the media. They don’t know how much you worked to sabotage this company” “I never did-” He cut in quickly, “I want only two things from you Emma” he stood up and walked towards me, carefully as if he had all the time in the world, “Tell the media the truth, tell them you’ve been the only liar and cheater in this relationship, stop hiding from there” I already knew my answer but entertaining him was fun, “And what is the second thing” The gleam suddenly brightened and I knew it was going to be worse. “Hand that almost dead company of yours to me. Transfer ownership, everything to me and let me redeem it’s glory” His words felt like a dagger through my chest, there was a sharp pain and I heard the gasp leave my lips before I knew they did. “What?” I managed to let out. He grinned, his teeth sparkled under the light, “You heard me right. Tell the media that you have sabotaged this company for the past three years, leaking secrets and telling lies, manipulating me and hand that dead company of yours to me, for no money. I deserve it” I shook my head, unable to comprehend the disbelief, “You can not be serious” “I’ve never been more serious” “You’re never going to get anything of that sort from me. I wont lie to the media just to save you and I wont hand over the company I have built years before you to you on a platter of gold” He sneered, “Don’t make this any harder than it needs to be Emma, you know I have my ways” I leaned closer, smelling the sweetness of his cologne, the familiar pull remained there, “Oh, trust me I do. I was there and I did a lot of the job or have you forgotten?” He looked at me from beneath his nose like I was nobody, “You only did what any good girlfriend and wife would have done. Something that Isabella will now do” The mention of her name caused the images of their kiss to flash again. It hadnt been a dream and suddenly I felt anger I couldn’t explain. “Don’t you dare. You are the one who left me for her. You should be the one compensating me” He rolled his eyes, “Aren’t you yet tired of this talk? All I ask is those two things and you will be free of me” “Or else what?” He stepped back from me, sliding his hands into his coat pockets carefully like he had all day. “You know the things I’m capable of” I sighed, shaking my head, “I wasted my time coming here” I turned around, starting to walk away. “I hope we never cross paths again” Just as my hand fell on the cold steel of the door handle, his voice reached, it’s coldness sending chills down my spine. “You’re going to regret this Emma. I promise you”Emma’s POV When morning the next day came, I was expecting to wake up to news that a few more investors had reached out, not to Marie shaking me repeatedly. “You need to see this. Wake up”My eyes opened, slowly, I had all the time in the world. “What is it? So urgent that you had to wake me up. What even is the time”“This is serious” Marie’s voice gave me chills. It held the depth of a seriousness she hardly ever portrayed. “You need to see this now!”I sat up straight, cleaning the sleep from my eyes. “What happened?” I asked. She handed the phone over to me, “I really don’t want you to see this but you will anyway” she turned the screen on and the video began to play.My familiar face and body displayed on the screen and I felt the breath leave my lungs. The video continued to play but it felt like I wasn’t seeing it. The sounds continued but my mind was somewhere else.I remembered very clearly what I was looking at. Our sixth year anniversary and I had made the stupid initiati
Emma’s POV His words rang in my mind repeatedly while I drove. I knew exactly what the man was capable of but I didn’t want to believe he would turn his methods on me. “He said what?” Marie asked, her mouth had basically fallen open, voice pitched with shock. She was in as much disbelief as I was.I nodded, “I’m not sure exactly what he meant but he said it with confidence” my voice dropped. “But what could he possibly do?” I had scanned all the methods I knew about and none of them could apply for me.She looked away in the distance out her window with the bubbling world beneath us, mind racing like mine. “I cant think of anything either. Maybe he was making empty threats” she stood up. “Come on, we cant think about this all day. You have a company you must run” “You’re right” and I knew she was.“While you were gone, he returned most of your essentials, laptop included. There is it” she pointed to where the bag sat.”And I have prepared your favorite snacks for you while you work”

Emma’s POVMy heart sank to the bottom of my chest, suddenly breathing had become difficult to do. “You cant do this to me Alex” I had nowhere else to go, no business to fall back on. I had made the man the center of my world and now it was turning back on me.“Sign it now Emma or else you will regret the day we ever crossed paths” his voice was cold and so were his eyes. He meant the words and something told me I didn’t want to find out what would happen if I defied him. There was nothing else to say, I signed the papers and handed them over to him, the tears were close to falling but I blinked it back enough so he didn’t see. “You can now leave” Isabella said, bringing me out of my thoughts.I turned around and walked away,my cheeks burning red with embarrassment as I did so. Everyone was watching as I was humiliated, tomorrow, the press would have a field day with this divorce and somehow it still hadn't clicked well. Just as I reached the door, Alex’s voice reached out to me, “
Emma’s POV“Is the gift ready?” I asked Jane, my assistant. The wind blew, causing goosebumps to grow on my skin. Maybe the skimpy dress I had chosen wasn’t worth it.“Yes ma’am, it’s already packed in the bag” she smiled, opening the door to let me into the car.I nodded, my mind was full of too much to do. There were too many things on my mind. “Good, prepare the documents for tomorrow's meeting by eleven but until then, you’re free” I smiled, knowing she would be happy for the break.“Thank you ma’am” and I was on my way. I couldn’t help the smile on my face from widening even further. The thought of seeing Alexander, didn’t matter how many times I had before sent butterflies moving in my stomach. Soon we arrived at the already packed venue and as anticipated, the media stormed towards me, questions on their lips, all of which I ignored.“Take the gift to the stage” I told the maid that had come to get my jacket. She bowed, “Immediately Mrs. Cross.”I felt my cheeks heat up, eve
